Sweet Revenge how I love thee. The art nouveau decor and bone china are a great throwback to the old days of chic tea houses. My favourite things are the chocolate pudding cake and the apple pie (a la mode of course).

I love the food here. Yes, I know the atmosphere is a little startling if you've never been to a real Chinese restaurant before but trust me, you'll adjust. First you will wait in a line-up where people will try to butt ahead. Hold your ground, this…More »
This is the very best place to have brunch in the city. Everything - and I mean everything - on the menu is good. The decor is quirky, they have their own way of doing things but they do it well and I have never had bad service here (and you should…More »

This is not an ordinary restaurant. Beyond the steamed up windows are dozens of candle-lit arbrite tables and an eclectic collection of vintage chairs. The kitchen is open so you can hear see and smell the cooking (if something burns sometimes this…More »

If you find yourself arriving in Vancouver after all the restaurants are closed and are even considering lining up for street meat with all the drunks you should head down Robson to this little hole in the wall. It's a steamy cozy somewhat clean…More »

These are some fine burritos and vegetarian too! The vibe is "hole in the wall, hipster hang out" with some occasionally surly service. Now that i live near really authentic Mexican food this doesn't thrill me as much as it did when I lived in…More »

Dining out in Victoria, BC (26)I've spent more than half my life here and am still a frequent visitor. Allow me to steer you away from the tourist crap and toward the best Victoria has to offer.WARNING LIST Aside from avoiding anything that faces the inner harbour, there are also a lot of chains that masquerade as restaurants which I would run from. Milestones, Cactus Club, The Keg, White Spot, Blenz, Smitty's, ABC, Earl's, Boston Pizza, Macaroni Grill |

What to eat in Marin County, California (31)Where to eat around Marin County. Mostly Fairfax, San Anselmo and San Rafael. It seems unlikely but Marin does have an amazing assortment of top notch restaurants tucked into some of the neighborhoods and villages. Probably something to do with the number of Chefs who want to call this home. Lucky us! |

Soy Lattes I have known (15)I am what you might call a soy latte connoisseur or snob. I dislike flavoured and sweetened soy in coffee. Imagine if a regular milk latte at Starbucks all of a sudden came pre-sweetened with vanilla flavouring... yes there would be blood. So why should soy drinkers be stuck with this sub-par coffee experience? This list is for the San Francisco Bay area. I also have a list for Victoria, BC. |
