According to certain guidebooks, you can either walk straight uphill towards the Chateau Frontenac (or the rest of Vieux Quebec) from the Gare du Palais or you can take a cab -this last option came highly recommended.

We opted for something…More »

We arrived to this wonderful city rather late and wandered around on foot looking for a warm place to enjoy a drink. Luckily, we stumbled upon the Pape Georges. The wonderfully cheery bartender and the equally friendly chaps at the bar made us feel…More »

After having enjoyed pleasant stays in a local auberge and a fairly trendy hotel, we were excited to score a room at the Fairmont. The Chateau Frontenac itself is impressive and quite the site. It's a very old building that clearly has survived…More »

During a nice evening stroll, we happened upon this lovely little market that had two things I longed for dearly: convenience store sandwiches (yes, a strange longing, but I can't help it) and beer. Since we'd just eaten dinner, the sandwich was out…More »

Best bang for your buck in Quebec. I ordered the cheap chicken sandwich meal and I swear I could have made it into two meals. The mains come with fries AND salad (which I appreciated since it's always sad to choose between the two).

We'd just missed…More »

Besides having the hugest carrot-shaped pepper mill that I've ever seen, they also have pretty good food.

We found ourselves in this cozy stone home for happy beer the other night. It was a nice place to hide away from the cold. It's small so it doesn't take much to make it feel crowded.

Ideal for people who like stone walls and beer.

We stopped at the closest station fully intending to take the train to Montreal... but then we saw how much it cost. A round-trip ticket aboard the Orleans Express came out to be a much better deal and the free wi-fi sweetened things up.

Lots of tvs!

We were out for a stroll and hoping to find some place casual to stop for a drink. A sports bar is generally neat place to let your hair down and La Zone des Sports was certainly that.
