I'm glad to live close enough to drive to this place, but not close enough to make it too convenient. You see, I'm addicted to Berkeley Bowl--for starters, where else can you find so many varieties of basil or discover produce you've never…More »
lovely grocery reminiscent of Berkeley Bowl (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), except on a smaller scale and of course, Alameda-style. for such a small store, great selection of fresh veggies, and other groceries. Appreciate all the selections like wheat…More »

I have come to The Cheese Board on and off for the past 5+ years, but only have grabbed baked goods and lined up for one of the quick check-out registers. Yesterday I experienced such fun service, taking a number in the form of a playing card to ask…More »
Wow. WOW WOW WOW. Not only amazing chocolate, but the only chocolate factory in the country that allows cameras in on tours (from what we were told). Chris and I had a total blast here, enjoying the explanations from our entertaining tour guide, and…More »
One Yelper described the Chino, CA Henry's Market as "kinda like a big Trader Joes"--I beg to differ. While Trader Joe's stores will vary in stock according to the best deals they can make, Henry's has a more consistent stock whether items are…More »
Like others have said, great mom & pop type grocery store. Their selection varies, so sometimes you can't just count on a particular product/brand. But for most of the Korean basics, I don't think you could go wrong at Manna.

Truly amazing how many cool items they pack into this tiny, tiny space! Really amazing produce, cheeses, breads, among many other items. When I came here two days ago, I picked up some milk for my cooking, as well as a beautiful portabello mushroom.…More »
Previously, I had been going to G. O. in Newark to find great deals--very nice to find the W. San Jose store to be so large!
Some of the deals I found today:
Nature Valley 3 bean chili to go cans - $0.99 each
Can smoked kipper filets - $0.99 each
14.1 oz…More »
I have friends who have nicknamed this chain of stores "Whole Paychecks." It could be this way if you are a one-stop shopper. For this Yelper, this store gives a chance to sample items that aren't available in the local Trader Joes or Safeway, or in…More »
Yum Yum Yum! My boyfriend and I came to Satura before the Yelp Elite 151 Boutique event, having stumbled upon it just walking around Main Street as we were early for the event. Chris and I shared a slice of a triple chocolate (rasp?)berry cake and a…More »
In trying to find Nijiya, I nearly missed it! I was expecting a large market like Mitsuwa or Ranch 99--not so in this case. As many of my fellow Yelpers have explained, they do pack a lot into a small space in this market, more than what you might…More »
I go to Grocery Outlet for the overruns. that's basically the good stuff they sell--one must be judicious, but there are some good deals to be had. for instance, canned goods are usually not bad, as are a few other staples. off-brand pasta sauce, no,…More »
Ok, my friends don't call this chain of stores "whole paychecks" for no reason. But it's true, they do have primo products, if you know how to pick and chose. And if you don't treat this store like a one-stop shop, you won't use your whole paycheck.…More »
It's a little pricey, but a nice nearby place where I can patronize a family-owned business. If I remember correctly, this business has been around since 1950. While there are many items at Sunnymount that I can find at my regular grocery stores,…More »
Pretty large, even overwhelming place. Prior to visiting Hankook Supermarket about a week and half ago, I had only visited rather small mom-and-pop Korean markets here in the Bay Area, and the only comparably sized Korean supermarket I had seen is…More »
Visited for the first time today, after realizing I had run out of a bunch of stuff at home. Pretty pricey, but the selection includes some locally-made products such as granolas, breads, among others, that could be missed at a bigger chain grocery…More »
Sometimes I have a not-so-kind nickname for this chain of stores. But this nickname can't apply to this location, as its new construction and well-executed organization make it a conducive place to shop in.
Some of my buys include:
12 oz pack of green…More »
Lots of yummy cheeses and spreads to sample here. The place has changed a bit over the years in that there was once some product made onsite, and on certain days could be viewed, but that is no longer, hence the expansion of the show room along with…More »
Some really cool finds here at Community Natural Foods--really like seeing they have a pretty complete line of Aubrey Organics skin care products/shampoos/etc. Some produce, raw/organic foods, kitchen accessories, and health care items. Pretty small…More »
This location of Grocery Outlet seems to mirror the stock of the Williams Road, San José store. I was able to come away with a good set of items such as frozen vegetarian meals, lunch items such as chili and soup in disposable bowls, other…More »
Normally I do go to the Whole Foods store in Los Altos, but I happened to be running errands in San José "next door" to this location, and needed a few things that only Whole Foods and possibly a few other stores in the area have. It's a smaller…More »
This Grocery Outlet always has seemed to me the holy grail of Grocery Outlet stores. Alas, I can't say it was the first G.O. I experienced after moving to the Bay Area some years ago (I think that honor goes to the Redwood City location), but still,…More »
