The espresso here is generally perfect every time. They don't really have anything else though, just a few cookies, but there are plenty of other places to find something to eat within a few blocks.
The Black Stilt has been bought by the Moka House.
Different owners, different coffee, different pastries, different ethics, no liquor license.
I had a latte here last week and didn't even bother finishing it; scalded milk, burnt beans, sad customer.More »
I'm in the Black Stilt pretty regularly (down to once a week since I've gotten my own espresso… Read more »
Discovery Coffee served me the first truly great latte I've had in Victoria. They roast their own beans and supply some of the local cafes. The croissants are good and so are the cookies, an important part of any good coffee shop!

I recently returned to Bubby Rose's for breakfast. In my previous review I mentioned that the croissants were among the best in Victoria, just a little heavy for my taste, they've improved since then, a little lighter and a little flakier.

I have only had their croissants, and I'd say they're 2nd or 3rd best in Victoria (which is no small… Read more »
I was very happy to see another Fantastico open up closer to downtown, Fantastico is one of a group of great espresso cafes in Victoria, such as Discovery and Habit. But very happy turned to thrilled when I discovered they are also serving my…More »
Habit's new location in the Atrium is a great addition to the neighbourhood. I was never a fan of their Pandora St. location, it was just too hip and uncomfortably austere for me. However, their new cafe in the Atrium is much more comfortable, not…More »

I've waited too long to review Drumroaster Coffee, so my review wont be as detailed as it could. However I wanted to review it because the important point is that they know what they are doing when it comes to espresso, and one can reliably get a…More »
This is a very comfortably welcoming cafe. The coffee and pastries are good, and the vegetable samosa is excellent.
I've been here twice and they seem to know what they're doing with their espresso. However, they need to start using the…More »
Just an update to mention that the Buzz now has free WiFi. The coffee is as good as ever, and my friend had a good fruit smoothie.

Returned for breakfast today and had the BLT with balsamic vinegar-cooked bacon, yummy. I swapped sourdough bread for the bagel it regularly comes with, and I'm glad because it was messy enough to eat on bread and wouldn't have been any easier with…More »

The Elysian Room is my favourite place for a latte in Vancouver. The latte is very good, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable, and the cookies and pastries are so good that I usually visit when I'm in or passing through Vancouver.
