If you're looking for a place to stay near Antigonish, you can't go wrong with Ocean Front Shanties. The cottages are sweet and well equipped. The view is AMAZING and the location is just about perfect.

What a sweet little place to visit with kids!
They were just gearing up after their winter season when we visited - but the spring arrival of animals made it all worthwhile.

A super-classic dive. Great dark grubby pubby ambience. Not a huge beer selection. Dead in the middle of the afternoon. You know. It was there. It is, as I say, classic. Not to miss if you're in St. John's but just because of the classicness.
This huge pub had live music both nights we dropped in - the second time Con O'Brien from the Irish Descendants. The beer selection is decent, with a handful of beers from both Yellowbelly and Quidividi Breweries.
A nice alternative to some of the…More »
Very friendly yellow space and some of the best coffee we had in Newfoundland.
The Tide and Boar has a great selection of beer and wine at reasonable prices. Everything from the local Pickaroons to Quebec Unibroue to more exotic offerings mean you're sure to find a pint to suit your fancy.

Wish we'd had more time in St. Johns in order to eat at the Rocket Bakery. It's just adorable!
All we managed was a couple of pastries for the plane and there were certainly no complaints about my fruit-and-custard-studded brioche, nor the boy's pain…More »
Staying at the Point is like staying in the best guestroom of your very favourite great aunt. And her sister stays in the room six months of the year, so even if she's cleaned it up for your visit, it doesn't quite reach that point of impersonal.

This place was great! A welcoming, classic pub with a decent selection of beers. The gang was pretty friendly and people were coming and going the whole time we were there.
I hear the food is also great, but can't comment.
Who wouldn't like to sit on the scraggly grass on a seaside cliff under a lighthouse and eat made-to-order high end sandwiches, fresh fresh salads, the best lemonade you've ever tasted, and hand-made desserts, all made right there under the lamp?

The Duckworth B&B is a cozy place to stay in downtown St. John's. You're just steps away from the action, but not so close the action will disturb your beauty rest. Steps away from classic pub, the Duke of Duckworth.
The rates are really reasonable,…More »
Gosh the space is gorgeous. The decor is a little schizophrenic, but nothing a bit of curation wouldn't cure. There are a lot of really great pieces that could stand a bit more space to breathe.
The food selection was interesting and overall very…More »
All the beer selections here are super! The food is not too bad, though less creative than they purport it to be.
The pulled pork nachos were tasty, and the sweet and salty pizza too. The wings were just wings, yanno?
The room is gorgeous, and the…More »
