One of my fave places, I like the brit-pop nights, I like the slow afternoons, I like the Sunday movies when Citizen Video brings in a Parker Posey movie...it's all good, and the staff kicks ass.

Dive Bars
Neighbourhoods: Point Loma, Ocean Beach
This is a 4 star Dive bar, which doesn't mean 4 star dining experience. It also isn't a 4 star trendy bar, it's a 4 star for Dives.
It means, internet juke box that actually works, you can search for Tom Petty and it's probably already there or…More »
In a world where the dive bar is slowly but surely vaporizing, we've got a location that is holding steady and maintaining it's dive-bar charm.
Some people think calling a bar a dive-bar is some kinda insult, I say, pish-posh my friend, pish-posh.

The coveted but rarely experienced 'Fuckin' A' jukebox....
Noooooooooooooooooo not the jewel box! Please will someone save the dive bars!?

This is a favorite of mine, they always play the deeper cuts from an album, not the crappy pop stuff on the radio. But it's not just what is out now, sometimes they throw down some Ted Nugent just to see if you're paying attention, it's a hilarious…More »

I like the vibe here, it's one of those wear a band shirt and jeans and be accepted joints. Often they have life music, and if not their jukebox kicks indie punk butt.

ROTD (7)Here's my reviews that won Review of the Day (ROTD) |
These places make the city for me (15)This list tells you where I get my honey, tamales, what I listen to, and where I eat locally. |
You're in OB, with no wheels (38)Depending on where you are in OB, you can walk to all these places, some are over the hill if you are in OB on the ocean side, but if you really wanted to take a LONG walk go down to the bottom of the list. The top of the list is near the main hub of OB, the bottom is at the top of the hill or over the hill and could technically be in Point Loma but worthy a lengthy hike of excursion proportions in my opinion. |
Thrifty Madness! (39)This is my organized list of some selected stores that sell clothing or housewares or furniture or music stuff that might be used, resale, antique, vintage or in any way thrifty. These stores offer many ways to be creative and artistic and allow you the wearer, creator, decorator or listener to be as creative as you need to be. This is not just the good on the list, I've included some of the unsavories so if you are looking, you can consider my opinion on both sides of the fence. |
My faves (15)Sometimes you spend more on certain reviews and you are especially proud of certain ones, these are those . . . |
One bean, 2bean we all scream for ice beans! (20)If you want to define a city by it's culture, you need to look at the businesses that swirl within, local independent coffee places are abundantly present in America's Finest City. |
Things to do in L.A. for the day (1)If you don;t live in L.A. and aren't sure of what might be worth your time, here are some of my ideas, if you read some of my reviews you might get a feeling for my personality and preferences. |
Man-Tourist Places (20)If you've ever struggled with what to do with your Man-Tourist, here is a list of sure to please little venues for you.Man-Tourist could be your Dad, your friends Dad, your uncle, your step brother, who ever he is, he SAYS he's not too picky (but he has very strong OPINIONS for someone who is NOT PICKY). However fear not, I've compiled a list for you all to bring your men and to conquer San Diego in the best Man-Tourist way! I tried my best to give you all the idea's of various Man-Tourist's who've come to visit over the years. |
Veggie Mite Sandwhich! (or Vegan Choices) (38)Lots of restaurants offer vegetarian choices in San Diego, some also help the Vegans by offering those foods too. |
Non-honky goodness (27)This list is to show that yes, even if you are considered "white" you can shop and buy food here in San Diego that is tasty and exotic, maybe erotic? But certainly not boring old American food. |
"I'm easy to please, provided you're cute."
