Service: Great, very hospitable.
Food: Yummy! They will also accommodate those who love food to be extra spicy (ask for fresh chilies, and prepare to be challenged!); they are also veggie-friendly, Yay!
I loved the glass-noodles w/ veggies. Pad Thai,…More »
Veg-friendly, good-tasting, and the service was lovely :)
My companion and I just had supper there, and were surprised to find a completely Veg-friendly menu! Complete with gobo/burdock root, hijiki, and inari zushi appetizers. They also have a…More »

Tasty. Quick enough. Cheap (under $8. for a b*i*g serving).
Service was ok, but I came here for the quick enough bite, and for tasty food.
I couldn't tell if there was MSG, but I was thirsty afterwards (isn't that a sign?)
As a vegetarian, I was sad…More »
This place was good if not great for picking up Ethiopian Injera bread.
I bought 5 injera for $3.00.
Problem was, what started as a craving for injera and miser wot or any other injera sauce... turned into a burden. My caped crusader and I were stuck…More »

Walking past this place, you'd think it was nothing but a fast Ethiopian food joint/cafe.
We luckily found out, that there's a nice restaurant above. Seemed to be one of Bloor Court's sweet secrets. (This restaurant is at Bloor X Christie).

Food was good. Service was lovely. I had no idea what Eritrean food was like, but by the time that I left, I had also been able to watch some... Eritrean television! My dashing companion thought his lamb was okay, a bit tough to finish eating.…More »

Order two Dosas to go last night - so tasty and well done! Mmm... My partner and I ordered the Masala Dosa ($7.99 each). Came with Sambar lentil soup, which was vegetarian/vegan (I"m veg), but pretty salty... The two chutneys that they included…More »

Banjara's a nice name. Starts with the letter B, coincidentally as does the word... Boombastic.

I liked the Yelp reviews that I read, before going.
I truly did not like the aftermath of ordering their veggie combo.
Was it the lentil curry? Or the…More »

Ah Babur... I agreed in going here with a group of colleagues, b/c I personally thought Babur was the name of a childhood elephant. Turns out, Babur isn't the name of that character, after all. http://www.fanpop.com/...

I've enjoyed munching at Hodo Kwaja for a number of years now.
One of my two favourite items to order there are the walnut cakes (6/$2).
Made fresh daily, and if you're extra lucky, served warm (from having just been made) to you.
The second thing…More »

sushi was okay.
service was VERY slow. We waited 10+ min. just to get any service. Usually customers sit down, and then the server comes by with water. Here, nothing.

The price is right, or fair at least.
I went with two others, and immediately two of us noticed the Daily Drink specials. We went there on a Thursday evening, and the crantini's were $3.99. They tasted watered down. Maybe try going on a Monday,…More »

Thanks to the other Yelpers who typed first about this place, I went there this past week. John F, you sold it to me by first mentioning that it was 25% cheaper than most Thai restaurants. Then I think I read Craaackle S's review, the words "spring…More »

Best of's :) (10)I happened upon these places, sometimes by chance, and if the memory of enjoying item X strongly lingers - then there's a chance it's made this list.Best of's, in Toronto, Ottawa, and the surrounding areas... The Host - best eggplant curry; Biryani House on Wellesley - best Indian buffet; Vivoli - best minestrone; Mexican Salsas - best veg burritos; Tiffinday - best chana masala plus fragrant basmati rice combo; Bark and Meow - best pet groomer (professional, caring, experienced, confident); Delight - best grapefruit sorbet ever; Elixir - best facials. |
My Old Stompin' Grounds: Kensington Market!!! (8)I lived and breathed 8 years of my life in this 'hood, and I love it so much that I still think of it quite fondly.I'll be adding reviews and suggestions of places you should consider checking out... Twice this week already, I'm introducing my colleagues to K-Mkt hotspots that they didn't know about! I've also included a few places w/in the Market short walking distance radius. |
5 *star* wonders (3)If this service or business got a 5 from me, it's because they were *Outstanding*.Check 'em out. 'Cos a 5, is the highest score Yelpers can give! |
Guilt-free Pleasures (Places to Detox some bad things a-ways!) (7)Somehow having a tendency to be thin, and having the "unusual" diet of a vegetarian/vegan suggests to others, that I know a thing or two more than they might, about health and nutrition. My lifestyle, and what I tend to eat, is no secret. I normally cleanse 2x/year: once in the Springtime, the other time in the Fall. 1. cut out Sugars, wheat, alcohol, chocolate spec., canned foods. 2. prioritize sleep 3. practice exercise 3x week for 30 straight minutes minimum (ex: cycling, yoga, vigourous house cleaning). ~~~ Here are a list of places that I go to, for some Me-Time or to Eat Mindfully/Guilt-free: |
