The smoked meat is better than Katz's! I didn't think it was possible. Ordered "fatty," you will never get closer to heaven. It's so soft and salty, and the bread is nice and soft too. For $6.15... wait, 6 bucks??? NY is a killer on the wallet, it's…More »
I loved this Porteugese bakery. Every item looked amazing. I bought an egg tart - which was much sweeter than I'm used to, with an amazing crust on it (everything made with dairy in Montreal has been the best). Also, a chorizo bread (won't get a 2nd…More »
We came here because M. Wells is one of my favorite restaurants. Their owner was a big chef at PDC, and we wanted to see his roots. Our meal was great, even impeccable, everything a NYT writer would love. But there is great food everywhere, and the…More »
Ma-Am-M Buldoc is the place where makeshift meets gourmet. The menu is huge, and looking through the funky thing takes forever to order. The staff was ultra-friendly and helpful, the host was seemingly up for the challenge of English speakers. That…More »
I loved being in this restaurant. I loved the open air kitchen, the big bustle of movement, 2 men operating the kitchen for about 50 people in the dining room. The decor is top notch, with dark woods and fun volume in everything. I'd come back here…More »
While headed to the biodome, after our initial breakfast option was out of business, we came to the choice between Gerry's and Roi D'Ontario. We almost fell for going to Gerry's, then we realized it was a suburban trap.
On to Roi. It's a total greasy…More »
I love the fries, and the sauce on the chicken was great. The juiciness of the chicken was very good, but couldn't match the splendidity of the sauce. I wouldn't say it's a be-all-end-all or can't miss, but it's definitely a good stop - very popular…More »
Fantastic iced espresso. I ordered it in the local language: Cold one, for here.
You're on an edgy plane here. The patrons are tres cool.
And here's some insider's knowledge: It's a sports bar.

Better than a zoo because you are pretty much with the animals, though smaller in every aspect except the gift shop. After the wonderment of the rain forest with monkeys, alligators, and some birds flying by you, walking by you, saying hello, it…More »
I can see how the live music can be a problem talking, but I totally dig the vibe. This is better than anything considered to be like "The Village" should be.
The grilled cheese was surprisingly good, and the coffee was expectedly good. I like…More »
Loblaws is a humongous supermarket. My favorite thing I saw was the "No Name" brand - Warhol would love that stuff http://www.flickr.com/...
The quality isn't necessarily great, but it's fun to see supermarkets in another country.More »
I always reject the popular, but we got the cannoli which I read about here and on chowhound. It was fantastic.
We came after they closed, and probably looked like puppy dogs in the window from the inside. They were nice enough to let us in, and pick…More »
I liked the other bagel shop marginally better. Not enough to make a difference in stars though. I won't be back, I prefer NY bagels.
This was the bagel shop I liked better than the other one. Although Schwartz's smoked meat I like better than Katz's, NY definitely is my preference in bagel.
The menu is limited, and that's fine, because I understand it's an Italian coffee shop. And the drink is good and well made, I believe the staff to be trained well. However, our one time experience took the impression that the boys behind the counter…More »

I like Jean Talon better because of the abundance of fruit stuff and the neighborhood. The inside stalls are expensive, making what should be casual elitist. Hey, it's not that bad actually. Brothers Satay are not a bad food option, better than the…More »
Pretty damn good stuff. Probably best hot food in the Atwater market. The dudes there were edgy, which was offsettling and intriguing. I don't want to encourage it, but whatever. Keep it up fellas.
You can't help but marvel at its legend. Check the old signs and jukeboxes and settle in for this greasy spoon. Montreal has some awesome greasy spoons. I always search for them in any city - you get the heartiest dose of a culture there, without a…More »
Pauley Potato is moderately famous for being the scene of a television show, but I want to talk about their Spruce Beer. The clear, non-alcoholic soda in it's own labeled bottles smells atrocious, and tastes moderately good. It's an experience, and…More »
This light show was spectacular. It was like a mushroom trip, with all the lights and narration driving us through the history of Canada. The graphics were extremely well done, the pace was great, and we were kept interested for the entire 30…More »
Look, I love Montreal, but the view is probably better of the tower from the ground than the ground from the tower. Montreal just isn't the greatest skyline, and is the bank of Montreal really that much of a landmark? Maybe I don't understand the…More »

First time I've seen these angel hair sweet treats being made anywhere. It was fine, but Chinatown overall, for someone from Queens NY, isn't even endearing. The area is a bit touristy, so I just wanted to get in and get out. I'm glad I went, I won't…More »
Great coffee shop. Does everything right, and is equipped for much more, while still being just shy of pretension. I totally dig the vibe: open and efficient. The terrace is a great place to hang out and work on your wifi, caffeinated. I'd come back…More »
Great gelatos and sorbets. I like the friendly shop, and I like the cute minimal seating. The chairs however, are not made for grown men. Everybody is happy when they come here, and still when they leave. Love the flavor.

Polished and pretty damn good ice cream. You can't sit anywhere, so try not to drip too much on the sidewalk. The flavors were ultra-satisfying. I'd walk about 2 blocks to come here, and I barely like ice cream.
Great soft serve shop. Hit the spot, baby. When I went there, a few Amish people were there. That was cool. Next time if I'm more hungry, I'll get a poutine too - that's cool to have it in NY.
