First of all, this a brewpub, not just a pizza place.
Second, the pizza here is decent enough and cheap.
Third, you come here for the beer.
Not only do they brew their own, but they feature other local breweries as well, and the prices are…More »
If you are a craft brew drinker and are sweet on the IPAs, you need to get to your bevy and check out the Dogfish Head brand of brews. Once people check them out , in the words of Chaucer, "Thanne longen folk to goon on pilgrimages." Here is my…More »

I had a chicken sandwich, a sampler and then some pints on my solo drive down the coast.
I had the pleasure of sampling the beer camp beer that was recently created Ghidorah I.P.A. (as a Godzilla nut, I couldn't pass it up). I wish…More »
The "hands down" winner of my 2005 trip to San Francisco. We got wicked lost on the way (these were the days before cheap Tom-Tom navigators). I was super pissed at my traveling companions, one of whom is tied for the most annoying person with whom…More »
I have nothing but raves about the Green Flash, who wowed me on Sunday with a taster run of the most consistantly palatable brews I have ever ingested from one brewery. NIne beers and not a clunker in the bunch, an achievement made all the more…More »
Small, quiet; a great little brewery. They are super friendly there and are a quick cab ride from port if you stop in on a cruise.
We went in August of 2004, so things may have changed since, but I doubt it. The beer was spot-on, the Amber and the…More »

A great little pop-in for sampling the fine Ales of the Ballast Point Brewing Co.

Check this spot out if you're in the San Diego area. At 1st the brewmaster wasn't all that friendly, but after I started chatting brew with him, not only did he warm up, but he got downright chummy. All brews are 1st class, the IPAs aren't overly…More »
I never ate here, so I can't comment on the food, but the beer here is amazing. The decor is very industrial and cold, but the staff is very cool. The beer is very much like the Belgians brew, so it is pretty strong.
Like many places that are…More »
Friendly staff who obviously know their beer.
The brewery is tiny, but the beer is seriously on point. The Pumpkin style (called Leaf Pile?) is hands-down the best entry in this category I've ever had. The Disorient IPA (the next town over is…More »

10 Year Anniversary beer (Belgian-Style Saison) is bad-assed. Clove is the strong note, with a copper/banana finish. Known for their Watermelon Wheat which I can't bring myself to try.
Had a sandwich that was quite good.
Parking is a major PITA.
Waiter was very detached, almost like it was his schtick. But beer was good and the food was superb. The standouts of the evening were the Mussels and the Fresh Squeezed IPA.
I wish they did a full on sampler of all their beers instead of flights…More »

Had a taster flight and was pleasantly surprised with all of the selections. Some area service staff seem to deride Widmer as being too "corporate" and recommend crunchier locals that offer less consistent product.
My sampler was made up of taps only…More »
The day I visited Harpoon was a snowy day like the one just lived through and thusly, there was no one else at the Harpoon Brewery. My experience there was pleasant, albeit a bit uncomfortable. It was not Harpoon's fault, it was the situation of a…More »

Why does Piece need another review? Well it doesn't, but I went there so fuck it.

Located where Stone brewery got its start, Lost Abbey/Port Brewing is busy, unnecessarily so, with its weird "one taster at a time" (a buck a piece) system. So no flights and increased patron/bartender interaction is forced, making working your way…More »
Great beer, decent brewery stop. Don't go in the summer, as it is hot there and the flies are the size of small birds. If you want the glowing particulars on the beer, read the other reviews.
This place used to be awesome, now I've got to take it down a notch. The two bartenders that usually man (well, woman) the taps try their darndest to keep up, but the place packs out with cheapazoids who will stand there and suck down tasters…More »

Great chili.
Great beer.
No growlers. Brewery tour is self guided.
Bring a designated driver as this place is in the middle of nowhere.
The Sly Fox Royersford is about one half hour or so out of Philly, and is located in a little strip shopping center. Those "in the know" about local breweries are probably well aware of this brand, which is an up-and-coming face on the…More »
Visited this location in the Oggi's chain at 11am on a weekday in February of 2006. As you can imagine, there wasn't anyone there. I was on a beer quest, and as a NYer, it was 2:00 in my mind. I sampled everything they had and here's the run-down.…More »
I also am biased when it comes to stone, certainly among my favorite brews in the world. However, I'm not just reviewing the beer here, this is a restaurant too, and they fall flat here. The food here is a bit much, everything has something odd in…More »
A small brewery which offers about 6 microbrews, but no tours. The beer is tasty enough, I am partial to the Rainbow Red Ale, which is a tasty red with a woodsy after-taste. All beers on the menu could use a tad more carbonation, but all are well…More »
Good beer, good food.
They made me go into a storage room in order to buy a growler. The growler was brown and had a painted label.

The beer here has that grainy taste that marks many smaller breweries and home brewers. The room is cool, all old wood- the beer selection has some bright spots, especially for those who like their beers to not taste so much like beer. They had…More »

As another reviewer noted, this establishment does not look like a typical "brew pub." However, to fault it for this seems silly. Triumph has a clean modern look and exudes a more upscale feel than most brew pubs, which can sometimes look like dive…More »
The beer here gets worse and worse. With the exception of AnnMarie, the service here is balls (and it's only on her behalf that this place gets a 2nd star).
I will never return.

Chain brewery, like Gordon Biersch. Much like what you would expect. Passable food, spotty brewing. The beer breaks down like this:
Woody's- bland
Karl's Amber - o.k.
Red Trolly - good
ESB - the b stands for bitter Karl, not boring
IPA - o.k.
Much…More »
The beer:

The Blonde very much tastes like a mass produced American Pilsner.

Even though it is set up like a bar, the CBC only allows 3 beers per person per visit. At first you might call bullshit on this, but after you try the substandard brew here, you may wish they had a strict 0 beers per customer policy.
I am giving this place one star for its terrible, terrible beer. I went through the flight and none of it was any good, none of it. Everything was slightly acidic tasting, like someone had dumped the contents of some batteries into each batch. The…More »

One of my favorite brewpubs in Montreal. Centrally located, great looking room, and brilliant beer selection. If you don't like what they brew, they've got something someone else does to fit the bill. Decent menu and friendly staff.
Great music, beers that challenge the palate, and a friendly staff. Eat a meal before you arrive and then partake in the homemade brews and bar snacks.
