Lemme preface this by saying I'm a total Chinese food snob. I'm from Chinese food heaven (Vancouver, BC) and I haven't found any place in Seattle proper to get my fix. I can't stand that Chinese American egg foo yung, general tso bullshit. That is…More »
Not just a restaurant... an experience. I took my partner there for his bday and it was unforgettable. Ron was our server and he was just fantastic. Attentive, interested, knowledgable without being snooty, which is always a fear for me at fancy…More »

Docking 1 star -- while it's awesome they went with the compostable paper plates and bowls, now the bowls (I always get carnitas) spread out all the food and it is cold by the time you get it.
The terrible old styrofoam bowls were actually bowls so…More »

I had my doubts because I had been to the Ballard one and wasn't all that impressed. But when they moved into the neighborhood (Capitol Hill, not First Hill as listed) I had to give them a try. Oh man, I was hooked. I don't know why they're so much…More »

I hated anything that resembled sweet potatoes until I had their sweet potato fries, yum. Dinner there was excellent. But brunch, is seriously the best I've had in Seattle (yes I've been to Portage Bay, this is BETTER I swear to the gods). I once…More »
Yep, my third review of this place. Just wanted to say I'm a regular now (of Nancy's) and so is my partner. I will have to battle Jessica L. when either of us gets rich and decides to hire Nancy to be our personal hair dresser.

My boy took me out for my birthday tonight. He loves Dinette but we keep forgetting to go there. So I finally got to check it out for my bday. Birthdays are a lot less depressing when you think of it as a "spoil me" day (or week, as I decided) rather…More »

Places I love to hate (17)Never go here. |
Must sees and dos if you're visiting Seattle (11)I think I've answered the question, "what should I see/do in Seattle on my next trip" a couple dozen times, ditto for Vancouver and San Francisco where I've also lived. So here's my list of must sees, must dos, and must eats for Seattle. So far I've covered some of the eats. I will get to the must do and must sees soon. |
"I feel good. I knew that I would, now" (9)Places to go to feel good. |
Chinese restaurants in Vancouver, BC (7)Vancouver BC is the mecca of good Chinese food. My parents think it's because so many of the top chefs from Hong Kong immigrated to Vancouver when HK was handed back over to China. Whatever the reason, there's no better place for Chinese food. People (e.g. Eugene at the last Elite event at Two Beers) often ask me where to go since there are tonnes of Chinese food (and other ethnic) restaurants all over Vancouver (and Richmond) so I'm going to start a list just for you folks. I grew up in Vancouver, most of my friends are from there, and my family is still there, so I should be able to come up with a good list. |
Japanese food in Seattle (6)I'm from Vancouver BC and later San Francisco, so I'm a picky eater of Japanese food because I've been spoiled silly in other cities where it's more popular. Hence, this list is short. |
