We go to the JA National Museum whenever we're in LA.
I love that it is located in the heart of "Little Tokyo"
nearby the old (and late, great) Far East Cafe where

This is the BEST museum in the world!
(Formerly the Provincial Museum)

It easily rates TEN stars.

Whenever we are in the Pacific Northwest we go to Victoria and go to this museum as a destination place.

We really wanted to LOVE this museum.  My husband grew up in NYC and often went to the Heye Foundation that had thousands of American Indian items on display. George Gustav Heye collected over 800,000 items early in the 20th century.

Fabulous museum but visiting it in April with the throngs of other tourists is insanity.  It was hard to even get close to the dinosaurs, the Hope Diamond and most of the exhibits.

This modest, low-key museum is a joy to visit.  They have an exhibit hall of historical photos,, cafe,  picnic grounds and over 50 streetcars and interurban electric train cars on display,  Train rides available too.

We really enjoyed the Maui Ocean Center.  All of the marine life in
the exhibits is from Hawaii.  
The center is very user and kid friendly.  Although it is "small"
there is plenty to see.

We spent MANY happy hours here.  The museum and animal
viewing areas are kid-friendly and fun for the adults too.  

Coyote Point Park is a wonderful park to have a large group
gathering or a picnic with your family and friends.

We went to the Aquarium on MLK Jr. Holiday weekend.  We went there after 3:30 and were able to beat the crowds.  There were swarms of people leaving as we entered.
