Best Cocktail Bars in North America

See All Lists
"Cocktail is a stimulating liquor composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water, and bitters--it is vulgarly called a bittered sling and is supposed to be an excellent electioneering potion, inasmuch as it renders the heart stout and bold, at the same time that it fuddles the head."

Okay, okay. Okay. I went to Cure awhile ago, I know, but I never reviewed it and I keep thinking about it.

About 4 miles from the French Quarters, Cure is my favorite getaway from the jaegarbombs and boobs on Bourbon Street. The bar is large and…More »

  Update - 11/30/2009

Still five stars! Don't think that will change as long as Tim and Charles are bar tending. I have to say, those two are easily the best bartenders in Chicago. Nobody can hit the spot with a cocktail better than they can.

First, they won my heart with…More »

While everyone is wasting their money on the semi-ugly time of year known as a restaurant week, it was a good time to finally indulge in the beauty of Boston known simply as Drink.

Walking in, I loved the set up. The sort of snaking bar that allows…More »

"Do you know anything about the history of this place?" we asked our server.

"If you're wondering if it was an old-time speakeasy, it wasn't." He told us, so matter of factly.

And maybe that is what I shouldn't have been told. I absolutely loved…More »

Wednesday's Pie Shop has become my new go-to-cocktail bar, and it deserves that role in my life.

It's in Larimer Square and features all the garnishes of a great prohibition bar. It's hidden away in a big city, it fronts a pie shop, inside it has…More »

Focusing more on the show than the flavor, Barchef caters to the first time crowd more than regulars. Sure, you could bring new dates here and impress them all, but personally I think I'd get tired of coming here and spending $20/drink on a cocktail…More »

Cocktails in Chicago (4)

No, this isn't for the average long island iced tea enthusiast.

Speakeasy NYC (4)

These bars don't exist.

South End Sandwiches (4)

Being around the BUMC all the time, here are the places I take my lunch break.

The New England Cocktail Menu (11)

There was a time that you could walk into almost any bar and order a Sazerac or an Old Fashioned, possibly even a Sidecar, and the bartender would know what to make you. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case at most bars.
Unless you're ordering a 2 ingredient drink (rum and coke, vodka tonic) you should probably try one of these bars for a classic cocktail, or a new concoction:

Major League Soccer (4)

I recently decided that I'm going to visit every MLS stadium for a match over the course of my life.

Top Taco - Chicago (5)

Being of Asian Indian descent, I can't say I was raised around authentic Mexican food. In fact, growing up, it was mostly taco bell. Since I've moved to Chicago, I've grown to learn and love the real tacos of the city. Here are my faves:

Chicago Avocado (7)

This is a list of places that have avocado on their menu so you can get your fix of healthy, fatty, fruit.

Cravings I have in Chicago (9)

My favorite places to eat in Chicago. All 5 stars. All delicious.
