I was a little disappointed with what I expected to be the best bakery around, although maybe I just didn't get the right things... the best thing I had was definitely the ricotta cannoli. I generally don't really like cannoli, especially since…More »

The only thing I love more than baked goods are MINI baked goods! Easier to sample a greater variety! So you can imagine my joy when I walked in and saw that MANY items were available in adorable mini-versions! The croissant dough was excellent and…More »
We go here every single day that we're in Eugene. Sometimes more than once per day.
Wonderful vegan options - the cakes are particularly spectacular.
I adore the day old options - all pastries (and sometimes cookies) for a dollar. The only things I've…More »

The atmosphere here was pretty nice - the employees were charming and cute, and all the patrons seemed to be having a good time - it looked like there was a book club or other group toward the back of the place. As I was waiting for my coffee,…More »
This is a nice bakery, but I'd like it a lot more if Sweetlife weren't in town. Basically I find everything at Sweetlife to be better with the possible exception of some bread (esp. the chocolate cherry?).
As expected, outstanding. I would put this with the top bakeries in the Bay Area - I personally like it more than Tartine. Luckily I got to try an awful lot of the baked goods, as I went with groups.
Highlights:
-Danish with jam and ricotta - wow. I…More »
I'm giving this place the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars. I have a hard time passing up locally-run independent bakeries, so I made sure to stop in as we were passing through Klamath Falls. In the early afternoon, the selection was pretty limited.…More »
I like how critical all these reviews are. I can appreciate that the donuts are on the sweet side, but I think they are very good. Of course, the assortment is quite impressive, both in terms of the flavors of donuts, and the vegan offerings (which…More »
My favorite traits in a bakery:
1) mini-versions of baked goods (Bonjour has many, including varieties of croissants, morning rolls, and some cookies - makes it easier to try more things)
2) free samples (oddly plentiful here)
3) day old goods (ok…More »
A smaller shop with less variety generally available. While there was a decent selection during the day, by evening a lot of flavors are consistently gone. Friendly employees - I saw them exhibit great patience with tourists coming in to take…More »
Friendly service, and fine, not great, cupcakes. I always like baked good places that have day-olds, which they do, although I don't like that you have to buy a dozen minis, I believe, or 6 regular sized cupcakes. I understand they want to get rid of…More »
I was really impressed with all the varieties of European breads. Also, I loved that they offered them in different sizes, as I often find a big loaf of bread will go stale by the time I finish it. But, I was in the mood for something sweet and…More »

Judging only by the savory side of things, I found the bread to satisfactory but nothing to get too excited about. There were nice chunks of walnut throughout the walnut bread, although it was a bit more sour than I would have liked. I wouldn't be…More »

I had a poppy seed square from here and it was amazing. I love poppy seed-centric pastries but normally only really see them in Russian bakeries. I have to add that few of their other offerings seemed appealing to me - they looked like they'd be more…More »

I had a soft pretzel - it was absolutely delicious, although even while eating it I was realizing that soft pretzels are kind of an epitome of white bread... with extra salt. And the pretzel rolls are really quite big. I felt like this would kind of…More »
I was pretty satisfied with the offerings here. I had a chocolate croissant which actually had pretty good chocolate and croissant dough, certainly better than I expected. Some of the other baked goods seemed pretty expensive, such as a mini-pie for…More »

The savory items looked amazing, diverse, and delicious. Sadly, I'd already had lunch so I stuck with the sweets. The butter cookies are pretty plain and kind of what you'd expect - not at all bad, but not so exciting. Next time I'd definitely try…More »
The blueberry danish is amazing. I never pick the blueberry option as a first choice, but it'd been recommended, and I'm awfully glad I tried it. The blueberries were small and popped with flavor, and were layered on top of a nice smear of sweet…More »
We stopped in for baked goods on a weekday morning and the cafe was pleasantly occupied but not too full. There were a number of scone flavors available, and three scones out to try - raspberry, almond buttermilk, and something with coconut. We were…More »
I like this old-fashioned bakery. We tried a frosted pumpkin cookie, a vanilla donut, and a pecan kringle. The kringle was excellent and nicely nutty. It was one of the more expensive kringles ($9.50, although this fed 5 people, some of whom had…More »
I liked this bakery. I was impressed at the wide variety of baked goods and the prices were lower than I expected. The pumpkiny items were not AS pumpkiny as we would have liked, but they were tasty. We had a pumpkin frycake (which, as far as I could…More »
You know the bakeries that seem wholesome but you wouldn't want to eat anything there? Wild Oat was not that kind of bakery. It's gorgeous and smelled delicious. There was a lot of bread and baked goods available, along with soups and other meals.…More »
There was an amazing variety of sweets here - huge platters filled with all different kinds of pastries. To my non-discerning eye, the main variants were the types of nuts contained and the shape of the dough. Some seemed to have cream. The…More »
I was disappointed by the cupcakes. We got a decadent chocolate, a peanut butter frosting/chocolate cupcake, and a cayenne. The biggest surprise was that the decadent chocolate was not very chocolatey at all. Normally I'm used to things being TOO…More »
Excellent. The cookies are a great size, as emphasized on the website. We literally cut the cookies up into quarters and eighths to sample them all, and even those tiny amounts are satisfying. The only negative aspect for me, actually, is that the…More »
So we went in right before closing and asked for a chocolate almond croissant, and then asked for it to be cut in half. The employee said it was easier for him to just give us two for the price of one, rather than cut it in half, which seemed good to…More »
Very, very sad bakery but their gingerbread was cute.
I loved the look of this bakery - cozy and homey and quite distinctive. We went in the afternoon and I only saw a fraction of the items mentioned in others' reviews, so I don't know if they sell out early or what. We tried the namesake pastry and the…More »

Bay Area BBQ (12)Over the years I've come to the conclusion I should focus my BBQ efforts in the East Bay. But then there will be some new place in SF, or I'll be really lazy, or I'll forget, and I'll eat it in SF again. But while SF has many wonderful food groups, BBQ just generally isn't one of them. |
