weeks and weeks i've been coming here for short ribs that i loved at first bite. then one day...pouff! the toothsome dish is now 3 (shrunken) pieces instead of 4, underseasoned and dry with hardly any of the winning sauce that came with. same item on…More »

i thought this would be k. oringer's chef-d'œuvre. the 10-course tasting menu certainly showed whimsy with traces of an el bulli dinner circa 2006 (tomato martini, flavors, plating). some hits: hamachi sashimi from Uni, foie gras, cod. and misses:…More »

Zócalo's definitely moved up. cool new digs and the guac is still as good. also loving the roasted pepper flavor of the newly tweaked house salsa. comes in handy as food often underseasoned (smother up). anyhoo, get the carnitas and camarones…More »

dreary everything. food, space, service. i agree with cops: move along folks, nothing here.
elegant dining room. truly excellent food and service. lots of 'mmmm' moments: from hors d'œuvre, breads, amuse and sorbet to each of the 6-course summer degustation menu. well portioned mains of lobster, cod, foie gras and beef tenderloin each…More »

was ready to round up a gang of 10 for the pig dinner but the one-a-night roast was booked till March 3! eager, came for suppa last week and found some hits: fried chicken livers, crispy trotters, cassoulet w/ garlicky sausage, beans & terrific duck…More »

gotta love the energy - brunch, cocktail hour, dinnertime and after, there's always a buzz. and a cool mix of people from the four corners. bar food is best: charcuterie, oysters and hamburgers. the rest not so much...cook has a heavy hand with salt.

as if I needed any more convincing. today's lunch: medium cup peanut butter fro-yo.
so my nutty dessert-lunch (accidental) continued on with a pb cookie at the farmer's market. moist, crumbly, sweet and salty (could be bigger for the price tho).
was on my way to dinner when i saw this so had just the ribs (3/$6). really good, meaty and flavorful. better with a bit more char but for a food truck, commendable.
italian turkey burger yum. original napkin burger meh. $2 sliders yeah!

steaks are well seasoned but certainly not primest. for the price, grill 23's delmonico and davio's filet mignon are much better eating. avoid the porcini rubbed filet...unless you're a gorgonzola freak.
