One of the best coffees in Toronto. The cortado is delicious!
A friend recommended I go to Silk for the best thai food in the West end. This location was formerly called Young Thailand, but they both have the same proprietor, Wandee Young.
The decor in Silk is very traditional, dark and often with very bizarre…More »

Cheese Shops
Neighbourhood: The Junction
The Junction Fromagerie is a small, cute cheese shop with welcoming service and a good selection of Canadian cheeses. They had a good selection of Monforte and Fifth Town cheeses, Evelyn's Crackers and fresh locally made bread. We tasted several…More »

A Delight-ful shop. The selection of chocolate was not as 'experimental' as I'd like in a small shop, but the chocolates I tried were good. In comparison to some of the other shops in the city, I didn't think the taste of the chocolate was as rich.…More »

I like The Beet very much, not because the food is amazingly stellar, but because the coffee, the side patio and the concept are fantastic. The organic, local cafe has an interesting menu that will please vegans, vegetarians and carnivores (like me).…More »
Another hip coffee shop is on the scene but in a neighbourhood that could desperately use a hip-infusion. Just north of Dundas West Station, Hula Girl is a gorgeous space with fantastic coffee. I ordered an Americano and it was just about perfect.

Furniture Stores

This store renders me speechless. It's the designer, over the top, beautiful version of ikea. The art, the housewares, and the furniture make me drool. It's the kind of store where you catch yourself saying, oh wouldn't this look good in our living…More »

Smash is the kind of store you would expect movie set designers to shop at. They have an eclectic range of salvaged pieces you could presumably use in your home, if your home was awesome, and lofty and from a movie. There are a couple of stores in…More »

Hairy Tarantula West is not for the beginner dork. It's a store for trained professional dorks, and their wives (as the case may be) who know what they want, whether it be comic books, magic cards, board games, or action figures. It is…More »

Wise Daughters is a fun store, located beside the tastiest coffee, Crema. So grab a coffee and head over for a quick browse of their handmade art, clothing, accessories and jewellery. The store is average priced for local, artsy items and has tons of…More »

I want to love littlefish, it's in the Junction, across from Crema coffee, it's cute and inviting, but...I can't love littlefish. Having brunch twice at littlefish has been disappointing. The service is fine, once you get a table, but the food is…More »

Framing

Professional framing is expensive - there is no way around it. I had no idea what type of matting, frame or style I wanted but the owner was so helpful in playing with different combinations and colours. The entire process took less than 5 days.
