'Allo Love! Care for a Spot of Tea?

See All Lists
I love the entire tea experience - from a proper British high tea to a Tajik teahouse. But most of all, I'm there for the food.

This is the perfect place for a bridal shower. I know because I was a guest at one here. The cornucopia of tea snacks was amazing and all very tasty.

Pinkies out!

When you have tea at the Empress as the picture I've uploaded shows, pinkies out is the rule. (No one was obsessed with this or seemed to even contemplate it except us though.)

I first had tea at the Empress in 1990 with my mom. At the…More »

When you come in for your tea, be sure to proceed to the very back and pick out a hat and a boa. The sillier the better. The tea and all the snacks here are superb, and much care is obviously taken in creating them.

Tea-Upon Chatsworth is lucky it's located on such an English-sounding street. Tea-Upon-Sports Arena Boulevard doesn't have the same ring to it.

This is really the perfect "treat your mom" kind of place. When my mom and I arrived we immediately headed…More »

For the last several years there's always been a conflict over restaurants whenever my parents come to town. They like "American" food. I don't. So, when I moved to the Bay Area I went crazy going out for Thai, Ethiopian, and Cambodian...…More »

This place is like a dreamy oasis tucked into 13th St. You see it and wonder, "Who put this beautiful Central Asian building in the middle of the block?" It makes a little more sense when you learn that Boulder's sister city is Dushanbe, Tajikistan.…More »

Where to Take the Parents to Eat in the Bay Area (10)

The only "ethnic" food my parents will eat is Mexican, Chinese, and Italian trilogy (I know - hard to believe those are "ethnic"). Unfortunately I hate "American" food. Here's where we go.

I Like My Pizza Down and Dirty Chicago Style (12)

Not too many places make deep dish pizza. Here's a list of places that do, and decorate it in the usual assortment of Chicago kitsch.

A Thai-Phoon of Thai (47)

I've been to 47 Thai restaurants in Bay Area, and endured some really great tom khai gai and some really crappy pad kee mao just to bring you this list.

My Reviews of the Day (22)

I'm lucky enough to have had a couple of 'em. I find it helps to get selected if the first line of your review mentions man meat or taking a dump. Or for some reason at least in my case, if your review mentions kabobs.

Oh Yes It's Mom's Night. And the Feeling's Right... (7)

Yeah, I'm a Mom and once a month I have a Night Out. Here's where we've gone to eat our tantruming child cares away.

Gallery of Closed Restaurants (70)

Why I continue to review restaurants that are closed I do not know.

V-Day in the B.A. (12)

I've had lots of Valentine's Days in the Bay Area. Here's where I ate, for better or for worse.

Pretending to Live in Los Gatos, my Favorite City (14)

I hope to one day live in "The Cats." In the meantime, I'll just stroll around town pretending I'm a local.

I'll Have a Silicon Valley Pizza, Light on the Silicon (35)

A good pizza my time was put into making this list of 30 pizzerias.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner in Palo Alto? (11)

Here are some places I've dined at in Stanford Country.
