We got a great deal on Priceline for a stay at Hotel Place D'armes and plane tickets.

It's a cozy hotel with a great location (right by the beautiful Notre-Dame Basilica) in Old Town and 2 blocks from a metro stop. Staff was professional and friendly…More »

Nothing like breaking yourself into the French ways with a lunch at Marche de la Villette. After being delayed at O'hare, finally getting to Montreal and checking into our hotel, this was where we went next.

We were greeted jubilantly in French when…More »

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Montreal. If you like old churches and ornate decoration, be sure to add this to your agenda.

We saw an ad for Modavie and read that it's known for its jazz and lamb dishes.

We arrived without reservations to a small line at the door and no empty tables in sight. We were happy to be lead upstairs to additional available seating. Modavie is…More »

I found this museum to be inspiring, and for $8, I consider it a deal.

The permanent collection was interesting but I really enjoyed Tricia Middleton's exhibition (it's over now).  She created a little magical world for her installation--even my…More »

I recommend visiting the Underground City to tourists especially if 1) It is cold when you are visiting 2) You tend to over-eat on vacation, like I do, and need some moderate exercise.

The Underground is something like 18 square miles…More »

On vacation, we like to visit churches:)

St. Patrick's isn't Notre Dame Basilica but it's still gorgeous in its own right. We sought out St. Peter's for its mass in English.

This church is large with lots of wood. Pews are sectioned into cubbyhole…More »

A "SALE" sign lured me into Smart Set. It was my first time in a Smart Set store (live in the U.S.). Staff were friendly, definitely not pushy,  and started a dressing room for me.

I liken this store to H&M because of the prices but the clothes are…More »

Be ready to brave the parade of strollers and screaming kids when you visit the Biodome. Ok, it wasn't that bad but it was pretty crowded with many families.

For Chicagoans, it's like the Garfield Park Conservatory but with animals, and perhaps a…More »

Where the Hotties Are (18)

My mama always said, "You never stop looking til you die."

Even though I'm married, I still have a pulse and can spot a hot guy when I see one. PS - I am not open for business.

Here are some places that hotties have been spotted:

Antiquing My Way Through Michiana (11)

The Chicago Reader article "Beyond New Buffalo" inspired me to go on an antiquing trip with my mom & sister in Southwest Michigan & Northwest Indiana. Bargains and bonding made this trip memorable! I plan to go back in a month or two.

Bye Bye Buena Park (15)

I lived in BP for nearly 4 years and will always hold a special place in my heart for this great neighborhood.

THE BANNED LIST (8)

It's not you, it's me. I don't like places that suck.

Oh snap! I have to entertain a 5 year old! (14)

I do not have any children but I have 3 adorable nieces and 1 cutie-patootie nephew. Entertaining a child in Chicago is not as easy as you think but here are some ideas:

Mini-Vay-K to Michigan! Great Lakes, Great Times! (7)

You live in Chicago, right? I can tell because you look TIRED, STRESSED, and OVER-WORKED. Take a mini-vay-k! Just over an hour drive from Chicago and you can be in southwest Michigan where you can visit wineries, hit up the casino, and GET THE HELL OUT OF CHICAGO.

And be honest, don't you love those http://michigan.org commercials?

South Side + Lost + Hungry (10)

I'm lost on the South Side and hungry. Where should I eat?

I'm Hungry but I'm By Myself (11)

All my friends are working/busy and I want to go somewhere to eat/drink!

There's no shame in my game.

I need a baby gift, stat! (3)

I live in Chicago where there are unique baby stores, right?
