- What/Why:
- IT's HERE! Re-Fashion Vancouver (http://www.refashionva...):
Part spring cleaning, part massive clothing sale, it's the only event of its kind in Vancouver, and designed for condo-dwellers and fashionistas to be able to come together, make some cash by clearing out their closets, and buy new clothes at deep discounts.
The basic idea is:
You know how sometimes you buy clothes that you think are awesome, but then take them home and realise that you hate them? Or that they don't fit anymore? Or that you can't figure out what to wear them with? Maybe you bought them online and it cost too much to return them. We all have similar experiences of beautiful brand new clothes hidden away in the recesses of our closets and never worn. We've spent so much money on them, it's hard to kiss our hard earned dollars goodbye and just give them away. Selling online can be a lot of work, taking photos of everything and cataloguing it all. Consignment stores are great, but when you've got brand new clothes that you dropped some serious dough on, it's hard to share the earnings with a store. I don't know about you, but I have tons of clothes and shoes I've bought online that it cost too much to return, or that I haven't found an occasion to wear them.
Re-Fashion Vancouver is a fashion re-sale. Think of it as spring cleaning for your closet - you grab all the brand new or nearly-new clothes that you've never worn and are taking up space, and rent a space (for $60!) and sell them. You can also shop, re-freshing your style for cheap!
It's not a swap meet and it's not a flea market - it's not about swapping one piece for another or selling used clothes - it's about selling the stuff that you never wear that's brand new or nearly new (our guideline is that if you've worn it more than 3 times, you can't sell it at Re-Fashion). The idea is people who live in apartments don't have the ability to have a garage sale, and it's hard to reach the fashion-shoppers - so we're holding an event that brings all the fashion-lovers of Vancouver together in one place.
