Hey y'all!

We're reading Katherine Dunn's quirky and classic novel "Geek Love" for this month's book club. You can easily find this book online or used at BMV, etc.

DESCRIPTION:
A wild, often horrifying, novel about freaks, geeks and other aberrations of the human condition who travel together (a whole family of them) as a circus. It's a solipsistic funhouse world that makes "normal" people seem bland and pitiful. Arturo the Aqua-Boy, who has flippers and an enormous need to be loved. A museum of sacred monsters that didn't make it. An endearing "little beetle" of a heroine. Sort of like Tod Browning's Freaks crossed with David Lynch and John Irving and perhaps George Eliot -- the latter for the power of the emotions evoked.

I am reading it - but I cannot read it while reading unfortunately.  It's a little too ..... unsettling.

So, I might have to bail this weekend altho I really look forward to our meetings (I love all y'all peeps) but my friend has invited us to her Aunt's cottage (aka mansion in Muskoka) and my SO *really* needs to get away before that pulsating blood vessel in his forehead bursts. (Thanks to his boss for the good times).
