What/Why:
It's that time again!  I'm craving Ethiopian food again, and I thought some of you might want to join in on the feast.

I hosted a UYE here back in November, and we had about a dozen people show up.  Everyone seemed to really enjoy the food.  It's $10/person + tax ... i think + tip, and there will be huge portions to sample.  If you leave this place hungry, you didn't do it right.  They do have a limited selection of beer and wine here as well.  If you've never tried Ethiopian food, don't worry.  I'll help explain the whole dining process - i.e. washing your hands, no utensils, the injera, the eyeb, etc.

So, if you haven't tried Ethiopian food, you should come to this event.
If you haven't tried the food at Altaye before, you should come to this event.
If you like the food here, you should come to this event.

If you're free on the evening of the 17th, you should come to this event.
Hint: you should come to this event.

**I will need to give Titi an accurate headcount the evening before the event, and I will need to know how many of the attendees will require the vegetarian selection**.  They typically serve lamb tibs with the "Altaye Special" For anyone who is gluten-intolerant, the injera bread here is in fact gluten-free and made fresh every day.

Since so many forget to uncheck the "I'm in" box when they can't make it, I'll only count you as "in" if you confirm via PM, Facebook, phone, email, this message thread, or whatever.  No carrier pigeon messages will be accepted.

If anyone wants an escort to or from their car, we'll be happy to oblige.  We've never had any problems in the neighborhood, but I know some people are uneasy about it.

I think that just about covers everything, so I'll shut up now.  I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Nathan: shucks!  Sounds like you two will be having fun anyway :)  I'm sure I'll be doing this again in a few months.  I don't even want to bother trying out other Ethiopian restaurants because I am confident I have found the best Seattle has to offer :)

Columbia City isn't nearly as scary as some people make it out to be, I promise.  We've been here at least half a dozen times now, and never had any issues.

Columbia City is also the home of Jones BBQ, Geraldine's Counter and many other non threatening establishments. If this wasn't the same night as my bar crawl, I'd be down to check this out.

I don't like the areas AROUND Columbia City all that much, but I lived in CC when I was 19, and really liked it. Only reason I didn't like living there then was not being old enough to hang out at Lottie's. They have some great spots!

I concur w/Corinna, Chelsea, and Inna on this one.  When I was around 11 years old, we almost got car jacked at a Houston flea market parking lot.  Houston ghettos keep it real :P  Columbia City doesn't scare me, and not just by comparison.

It was like Compton in LA with a southern flavor. The NW does not need to worry about ghettos.

Titi from Altaye called asking for RSVPs.  I gave her a total HC of 18, possibly 19 including:
Darth, me, Elise +1, Keoni + 11, 2 offline, 1 offline tentative.  

If any of this changes, let me know as soon as you can so I can update Altaye.  They're a very small business, and their regular business doesn't involve big parties like this.  So it would be the nice thing to do to let them know as accurate of a headcount as we possibly can as soon as we can.
