What/Why:: This January, Events Edmonton will transform Churchill Square into a winter wonderland of lights, sounds and visuals for METROPOLIS, Edmonton's first winter festival. Wellknown artists and architects will unveil custom designed, shrink-wrapped structures housing children's activities, informative displays and A Taste of Winter - a spinoff of one of the city's most popular food festivals, Taste of Edmonton.

METROPOLIS is a festival inspired by cold climate construction technology.

This event has the potential to have a very positive impact on the downtown. But after splurging on the pavilions, the City skimped on signage so it is impossible to know what programming is going on. The food tent is fun and features a nice mix of local independents. The children's activities are pathetic.
