Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler! (Let the Good times Roll!)

The 17th Annual Artvoice Mardi Gras is just around the corner. This year Mardi Gras will be on February 21st and once again all proceeds of the event will be donated to Give For Greatness. This event will kick off our 2012 Give Season and we are getting very excited about seeing all of Buffalo come out to celebrate Fat Tuesday and support our local arts community. Buffalo hosts the second largest Mardi Gras party behind New Orleans!

The parade of floats and decorated vehicles will start at 5pm and will march its way though the Elmwood neighborhood and Allentown. At 6pm doors will open at over 40 bars and clubs to welcome party-goers with drink specials from our sponsors, Labatt Blue and Southern Comfort. Not only are we are going to turn the Elmwood and Allentown neighborhoods into our own French Quarter but we have expanded to Williamsville and Hamburg, so there's fun all around! Many venues will also feature live music throughout the night. With your $5 donation to Give for Greatness you will get a bracelet that will gain you entrance to all participating bars. And don't forget to get a string of Mardi Gras beads at each location you visit!

There are still lots of ways to get involved in this year's event. Any organization, business, band, group, non-profit, etc, is encouraged to participate in the parade. Everyone is welcome and be as creative, crazy and original as you can! The winner of an online vote after the parade will win $500. We are also looking for volunteers to help sell bracelets and hand out beads at the door of our venues. There will be two shifts for our volunteers, one for those who need to get up early for work, and one for night owls!
