Eating at an English pub in the utopian, San Francisco-esque Thomas Street neighborhood always struck me as off-turning. Upon eating at this very unassuming eatery, my heart was changed. I actually want to return and either grab drinks here or go next door and bar hop via Nodding Donkey and TABC.
This Uptown-centric joint cranks out some solid English fare, I will confess. I have had my fair share of all the offerings you can imagine: Scotch eggs, Sheppard's Pie, heck, I know what "Bangers and Mash" is. But, I want to go with some hardcore grubbing here.
As I went into the menu, I saw that the chips and curry and cheesy Hampton fries were both quite attractive "munching" options, providing me extended eating pleasure so as to allow my lunch pal and I to eat to our heart's content... I don't think we put down anymore than 66% of the platters.
The cheesy Hampton fries were unending, sort of like that never-empty cup you hear about in fairy tales... except in this case, at the bottom, I found an entire inch of their aged White Cheddar. I love gooey cheese alongside my crispy cheese exteriors. The curry and chips (fries--for gringos) were served with some sort of curry mustard and a warm red curry coconut dip? Both were phenomenal. So, at $9 and $6 respectively, both boasting a size that is comparable to a meal fit for a small village and Africa, you can get out of here here, stuffed, for a steal.
The Londoner has my vote, for sure. I don't always eat English (in Dallas), but when I do, I will make it the Londoner. I am an Asian guy promoting an English-style novelty pub with some quality grub... in the uppity district known as Uptown.

The Londoner is truly a slice of London right smack in the middle of State Thomas/Uptown. When I really want great drinks, great pub fare, and a great patio, the Londoner always comes to mind. We recently returned from a trip to the UK and after falling in love with the pubs over there, the Londoner is a nice transplant of pub culture right here in the Big D.
They've got a fantastic bar food menu with lots of British classics as well as your standard bar favorites. They also have daily drink specials and a rotating menu of specialty beers on tap. I definitely enjoyed the $1 mimosas this past Sunday (Yea, I know.....not your typical pub drink. But I feel like mimosas are a universal Sunday pleasure) Both the Fish & Chips as well as the Chicken & Chips are great choices.
It's a great non-pretentious spot with friendly staff. Everyone here has always been very friendly and attentive. The crowd here seems to always be low key and casual. The inside bar is a tad dark so I much prefer the massive patio. Also, if you enjoy watching soccer/football, they've always have all the matches on here. I highly recommend the Londoner whether it be a night out or a lazy Sunday brunch to nurse the previous night's hangover!
Awesome place, located on the wrong side of town...No you don't need to bring your shiv here, but since it's in uptown its unfortunately packed with pretentious pricks.
However, it a nice cozy pub at night or in the winter that also has a great outdoor patio dining area in warmer months. Theyre food is really solid, def some of the better fish and chips around dfw. If your dining for brunch or anytime for that matter give the hp bloody mary a try! Bad ass!!

Best damn curry menu I have seen for a British Pub in America! Don't be fooled by the over-excessive Great Britain design - the menu is not your average 'bar food.' With the impressive beer inventory, this place is a guaranteed set-up to have fun.
Among their somewhat obnoxious neighbors, The Londoner holds true to the British Pub appeal: dark wood, beer schtiens hanging from the ceiling, old-school family crests, and most importantly the chill, down-to-earth crowd just meeting up to have a genuine good time.
Great bar with a casual atmosphere, that is comforting in the heart of uptown. I want to go back for the trivia night or happy hour, which I imagine draw an interesting crowd ready for a good time. Good for watching soccer games.
Brunch drinks are great, as well as the Fish and chips.
