Tuna hoagies are great!!! veggies are always fresh.. sandwiches are huge.. i can never finish them excellent customer service and delivery is fast!!
I got "the Jewish", a hoagie with four types of meat, cheese with veggies and olive oil. Within about 5 minutes it was ready; i was impressed. The taste was average for hoagies, not great, but not terrible. In retrospect I, having been a bar mitzvah boy and an attendee of plenty a seder don't really associate the taste of the hoagie with anything distinctly Jewish I've tasted. I'm sure my great grandpa, Ben from whom I bear namesake would eat it though. The friend I went with likes this place.
It seemed like an okay place to go before watching a Penn basketball game. The Philadelphia Big Five took up a large space on the cloth covered wall among the photos of insipidly displayed Penn Sororities and Fraternities. In the upper deck of the restaurant with the tables, I felt like they were tackily trying too hard to attract Penn students by trying to embellish their atmosphere with pictures of what appeared to a tennis team from the nineties cornily posing in a library with serious faces and cold fish attitudes. Privacy may have been an issue for the hundreds of names and faces posted on the falls, when what I mainly wanted was a solid hoagie. Yeah they're your business if you like bland hoagies but it seemed apropos of a my high school's graduation photo collection.
As I left, I asked the guy at the counter if he would wrap up the remainder of my sandwich, he politely did and wished us farewell.
1st Hoagie Exp beef cheesesteak. Delicious, recommend!
2nd Hoagie Exp: imperial with oil, loved it will be back
3rd Hoagie Ex:p: flounder hoagie with tarter sauce, fish was cooked well, but they forgot pickles. Overall, not impressed. 4.95 black/white shake was good, but not worth the price.
Like them on facebook, $2 off discount. I'm hoagie out....3 times in a week I'll be back next month.
This place is a heavyweight contender for king of the Philly sandwich shops. The woman who took my order over the phone was a sweetheart--I would tip her if I could. The bike dude was swift as the wind.
Onto the food. These hoagies are titanic. A half is pretty satisfying. A half of a half will cut it if you're a chick (or a wuss). Even a true beast will have trouble ripping into a giant.
I've always got the Imperial. It's so perfect that I haven't bothered branching out. The sandwiches are loaded with meat and cheese and the extra toppings are quality. The pickles are real pickles, if you know what that means. Like the other reviewer said, the oil takes this thing to the next level.
The price is decent. The value is awesome. If I'm craving a sandwich, this is the place to hit.
