this place is a gem hidden on the "other" hill top.
I have heard that La Luna is the place to go for great Mexican cuisine and super atmosphere in Seattle. I was not disappointed!
I slipped in after a long day at work and was extremely surprised.
The food was to die for. The green steak enchiladas were super! The mole is made in house daily. And the salsa that comes with the chips is spicy with a dash of citrus.
Coming from a south west state it was nice to eat some quality Mexican food.
The restaurant has a great location, with candle-lit table tops and a nice professional staff. And the bar is fully stocked with Tequila, Rum, and Bourbon. I had a nice Manana reposado neat as recommended from the bar girl. Nice and smooth.....
A great place for a nice date and a good meal. I look forward to coming back.

After reading a review in the Seattle Times describing a caramelized banana Napoleon "Chocolate and peanut butter layer flaky pastry with bananas on top and drizzled with a rum-reduction sauce" we were hooked. We also are huge guacamole fans and we had read reviews recommending La Luna's.
We planned to go this past Friday night. We were also planning on attending a play at Seattle Center and got in our car to head to La Luna's first. Turns out, our car battery was dead, so we had to catch the bus which didn't give us time to get dinner before the show. So by the time we left the theatre it was 10:15 and we were starving.
We had been so looking forward to that delicious sounding dessert that instead of eating at a restaurant close by, we caught another bus to Upper Queen Ann. We received the menus only to discover that they had neither guacamole nor the Napoleon anymore. Obviously, we were disappointed, but considering that we love Mexican food and were starving, we decided to stay and give the place a try.
We ordered Nachos and the sopes al pastor with crema. Neither were that great. They weren't bad, they were just average. Definitely not worth waiting at bus stops in the cold to try and get to and from Queen Ann late on a Friday night. Honestly, I would say, not worth really going to at all.

Stopped in on Friday January 13th, 2012 - for a late night cocktail and the bar was hopping but rest of the place was empty. Bar is small - holds roughly 10 people give or take.
Service was a tad slow but being at the bar - and drinks were about average. However, there tequila selection did look to be quite impressive. I prefer Paragon over this spot any day.
Great salsa. Outdoor seating. The Mahi tacos are better than they look. AND, the bathrooms are so worth a $5 happy hour to get into. :)
Almost did not go in due to the Yelp reviews, but decided to give it a chance. I thought it was great. quick service, great bartender! I ordered some tacos and they were excellent. Will be going back! I asked the bartender about the yelp reviews and he explained that new management is in and an entire new front facing staff is there now. Check it out again if you went in before!
