Decent delicious happy hour servings plus the yelp check in offer make this place 4 star worthy.
Hopefully the one opening at SOMA wont be disappointing (pricewise).

I like Kama because it is a small, local restaurant in Noe, they are always very friendly and it is conveniently right off the J.
I tend to go for their Dinner Bento Box which is your choice of 2 sides and comes with miso soup, salad, rice and pickeled veggies (see my pics). They don't skimp on the meat and they give you extra wasabi without a dirty look. I recently tried their Rainbow Roll (see my pics) & found it very fresh & filling.
The cons are the servers go for the hard sell on their happy hour beverages. I'm not a huge sake drinker and would rather order more food if I still had room. Also, since they are a small restaurant, I've been asked more than a couple times to move tables to accomodate a larger party. I don't mind as much if I'm still browsing the menu, but after I've started to eat is a bit irritating.

We had dinner here last night, and it was a really, really nice experience. I'll definitely go back.
The food was good--but that's only part of why I'm giving it a good review. What I loved were the authentically Japanese touches--the shredded daikon radish in the tempura dipping sauce, which aids in digestion of fried food; the variety of pickled veg in the bento box, the fact that the menu had many different kinds of entrees and appetizers, including ramen, udon, and donburi. We saw a seafood salad at the next table that was huge and gorgeous. The prices are very reasonable as well.
The waitstaff was thoughtful and attentive, and our waiter Roku was really sweet and interesting to talk with--really friendly. He even comped us our sake, which is an excellent customer service move, in my book.
Nice decor, good music.
We used the Yelp deal, which was a total bargain.
The fish was fresh and tasty. My grilled whole squid was a tiny bit overcooked, but the sauce had really good flavor and I nommed the whole thing anyway.
Definitely destined to become a neighborhood standby for me.

Had a wonderful experience here with a small group of friends. The presentation of the sushi was classy and we took advantage of the sake deal with a Yelp check-in -- awesome! Roku, our waiter, was the perfect blend of an attentive host and very personable. I never went to the sushi restaurant in this same location before, but I'll definitely be coming back to Kama.

First time here placed a to go order very nice decor fresh and delicious I got the mango tango which was super tasty and spicy tuna roll it's a little pricey but good
