Super fun! On the pricey side, but the Yelp $10 for $20 deal helped a lot. Watch out though, because apparently there's a new rule that you can only use one of these deals per 2 people. Also, if it's someone's birthday, they give them a free Hana Special (as long as there's at least a party of 4.) We had a birthday girl, but the birthday special and Yelp deals couldn't work together. So we decided to forgo the birthday special.
I went with 7 other people, so we fit perfectly at the table. Our chef was nice and entertaining. Pretty good for his first day on the job!
I ordered the Hana Special, which is steak and salmon. It comes with fried rice that the chef prepares in front of you.. the part with the eggs is especially entertaining. And I love the butter! The fried rice itself tasted okay.
Both the steak and salmon were delicious, although I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had. The salmon was a little on the salty side though. My friend got calamari, which I liked a little more than my salmon.
We celebrated a birthday there, and they brought out a red sculpted mountain with two candles on top for her to blow out. Not sure exactly if it was a mountain, but it was large and impressive. They also gave us some pineapple slices with toothpicks in it as dessert.
4 stars for the entertainment, 3.5 for the food itself.

Walking in, it's hard not to be charmed by the ambiance.
There are kimono-clad waitresses! Clanging knives! Waterfront property! Onion volcano! Ooh and fire! Nothing quite excites people into a puddle of giddiness like making fire into front of their faces.
And indeed, I was absolutely sold by the whole experience up until I looked down at my plate of scattered, well-done steak cubes and haphazardly placed side of buttery veggies and realized, 'I paid $20 for this?' The fried rice was delicious, but the molehill of butter ensured that.
Having dinner at Hana Japan is like buying a trinket swathed in mounds of ribbon and frills and bells. You pay for the packaging. A great place to impress that special someone/ fun group occasion, but not for donning that big-boy bib and chowing down.
Quick tip: I'd skip the the filet mignon and just stick with the New York steak. I didn't taste any difference between the two and to be honest, the chef chops everything in such a flurry that meats probably get mixed in the process.
ALSO, if you want your meat on the raw side, I'd make that VERY CLEAR to the chef. I got medium rare and the meat was so cooked, it was barely even pink!

I really like Hana Japan. I like the show, I like the food, I like the drinks, I want it all.
The first time we came here, we did the Happy Hour thing at the bar, appetizers and drinks. The bartender was great. The second time we came here, we came for the full on dinner with show.
Our waitress took our order, it took awhile to decide, but we picked the Lobster ($34) and the NY Strip Dinner ($20). That comes with soup, salad, prawn app, fried or white rice and vegetables. The whole thing is worth every penny and you leave full.

We really don't need a special occasion to come to Hana Japan, but I always see it as one. We love to share and love our surf and turf dinners. Also by using our $25 off http://Restaurant.com gift certificate, the meal was like a buy one get one free. SCORE!

I love GROUPON! You can try new places without paying full price if it sucks. Well this wasn't the case at Hana. I made a reservation for 2 as stated on the Groupon. I thought a lot of people bought it but I guess not... When you are seated and the waitress comes to order she'll ask if there are any "groupons." I simply showed her the phone and ordered.
The bf and I both got the scallop and steak, two volcano drinks, and ordered the fried rice for extra. The waitress, servers and chefs were great throughout our whole meal. I always get paranoid that having a Groupon will equal subpar service, but this was definitely not the case! The waters and plates were cleared promptly. The chef cooking was super interactive with us and even popped a few pieces of shrimp in our mouth!
Now for the food!
Soup: this was salty water with dehydrated pieces of mushrooms. I took one sip and said "no MSG water for me thanks!" well I didn't say it directly...
Salad: this was okay, I didn't like the gingery salad dressing. I did eat my salad slowly because I didn't want to just have steak and scallops later on.
Steak: this was good steak, I am used to prime cuts, so compared to that these are decent, more on the lean side (healthy I guess). I have one recommendation tho! If you like it Medium, order it Medium Rare, if you like it Medium Rare order it Rare! Well if you like it Rare then just eat the damn cow itself. I'm suggest people to order one level less-cooked because the chef will dice the steak and cook it to order. So by the time the chef finishes cooking everything, shrimp, scallops, vegetables, etc your steak is cooking itself and may not be the wellness you ordered. I ordered mine medium rare hoping to get that, but within 10 minutes or so, my steak was becoming medium because it was cooking itself.
Scallops: this was my favorite. I'm sure the massive amounts of BUTTER they use make it extra delicious.
Fried Rice: I would order steamed rice next time. I think anyone can make better fried rice. The eggs get overcooked and maybe burnt/browned too much on the grill. The chef also added TONS of butter. I was not very fond of my fried rice. Especially since the scallops and steak were so salty I wish I ordered just steamed rice.
Volcano Drinks: Omg don't order the strongest drink! The bf ordered the Scorpion or something... it had 151, vodka, whiskey, just everything and he couldn't even finish it because it was so strong. I suggest ordering something you can enjoy with the meal.

I would come back, there's a parking lot so I don't have to worry about parking. Prices are decent for a Benihana type of restaurant. And the waitress are all dressed in kimonos :)

I really enjoyed it! I'm not a fan of their group policy (not splitting checks for parties over 6 people), but everything else was great.
The place has a great atmosphere and the servers and chefs there are very friendly! We had a chef whose name is pronounced like "Sure" (I'm so sorry I don't know the spelling), but he was awesome! It was his first day on the job and he did wonderfully. I was fully entertained and had a fun time.
The food itself is very yummy. I had the calimari entree, which was very satisfying. It wasn't the most gourmet meal that I have had, but it was filling, tasty, and fun.
I'd like to go again!
