This is a family-owned Vespa rental business located just north of Downtown Miami. Groupon had a coupon advertised for a Vespa rental, Texas de Brazil to-go meal, and two movie tickets for just $99 - an absolute steal. My better half's favorite restaurant in all of Miami is Texas de Brazil, therefore I knew this would be a perfect pre-Valentine's surprise.
I called Grow Verde as soon as I purchased the Groupon to make an appointment and the man on the phone, Q, was extremely friendly and accommodating. I was impressed with the professionalism and friendly customer service, as that is a rarity in Miami, especially with these sort of purchases.
I had it all planned as a surprise - I told my fiance that I had something coming for him at 10:00 AM and to be ready to go downstairs. Grow Verde sent me a really cute text at 9:45, "Delivery team is on it's way" with a little thumbs-up sign. It really added to the experience, as my fiance saw the phone first and asked, "What did you get us into?" It was perfect.
The delivery came right on time with two Vespas to choose from: light blue with psychedelic flowers or a dark blue, more traditional, Vespa. We chose the psychedelic flower-power one, it was so cute. Q, the delivery man and part-owner, explained everything we needed to do to use the Vespa, how to contact him in case of an emergency/concern, and explained that he would be dropping off the meal at around 5:00 PM, and we had a choice of either Ocean Drive or South Pointe Park. We chose South Pointe Park, on Q's recommendation.
The day out on the Vespa was amazing, everything I could have hoped for. It wasn't so ostentatious like other scooter-rental companies - with the name of the company and "Rent Me" plastered all over the sides. This was nice, as if we owned it and were just out for a nice Monday ride. We drove all over the design district, up through the Grove and ended up at the beach.
The day was amazing - and we were ecstatic with the service. Then, unfortunately, we were brought down from our high just a bit after the food delivery at South Pointe. We had been promised a churrasco, mashed potatoes and salad dinner from Texas de Brazil. I had been raving about it all day to my fiance, and we were so ready for his favorite food. When the delivery arrived, I noticed the Whole Foods paper bag, however I had just assumed that it was just the bag - that the food would be the same. Q left and we headed over to a hill to eat, and much to our dismay, the bag contained chicken, brown rice and steamed vegetables. It's not that we probably should be eating something healthier, but this was my surprise day and we had been clearly promised Texas de Brazil, not to mention that it was one of the major selling points for my $99.00.
I tried not to let the food mishap ruin our otherwise perfect day, however I have to say that it did dampen the experience quite a bit. However, if you are looking for a friendly and professional Vespa rental company, that doesn't plaster their name all over the scooters, this is a wonderful company and I highly recommend them. But beware of buying packages that include meals - confirm with them at the time of the appointment and at pick-up that you will be receiving the meal you were promised.
