the other day i stumbled in, a total noob to the store. 20 minutes later i stumbled out, with 5 bags of tea for $23. i was offered samples of whatever i fancied, and was given plenty of attention from the staff whenever i had questions. i've already sampled 3 of the 5 teas, and OMG. i'm in love.
also, hello, every single tea was offered as both loose leaf and in tea bags. making it easy for me to keep some at home and take some to work. YES.
i'm done with the likes of fashionably pricey tea stores- this beautiful, high quality, and service-friendly store is now my go-to for tea!
I won't be going anywhere else for loose leaf tea.
The prices are fair, and the teas are fresh and tasty!!!
The employee that helped me was very nice and helpful; made me two cups of tea to try out the tea, and really knew his tea.
Store was super clean.
I have nothing bad to say about this place!

It's been a while since I gave any place in Chicago at least four stars for anything, and Adagio is one of the nicest shops in what's become the most elegant block of shopping in Chicago this far from Oak Street. It's basically a loose-leaf tea shop where you can smell the aromas of around 50 loose-leaf teas sold by the ounce or by the 2 or 3 oz. resealable Ziploc bag. Most come in disposable paper tea bags as well, though you really do notice a difference between tea bags and loose-leaf.
It's an elegant place--the teas are laid out in one long line, color coded depending on the base tea (Oolong, green, etc.), and they claim their flavored tea blends use natural products instead of artificial sweeteners.
My only qualm about Adagio is that they have few caffeine-free teas. In fact, they only have a couple or so out of the 50 carried. Their prices are reasonable for loose-leaf tea, given that I've had friends drop some serious paycheck money for Tevana's tea and those gimmicky tins they make you purchase if you want any loose-leaf tea.
I have ordered Adagio Teas online since they practically opened the business online years ago. Am delighted to have a retail store here in Chicago. I have tried most of their fruit flavored teas, as well as many of their black, green and white teas - they are all fresh and flavorful. To open a bag of their tea is to step into a garden filled with the most glorious scents - peach, mango, blueberry, jasmine, mint - whatever you fancy. If you love tea then there is no other place to buy it from than Adagio.
