2/13/2012This place is a diamond in the rough.....basically the only reason I visit 17th at all. If you are original and creative this is the place for you. Their only flaw is there isn't more locations! The staff is always very friendly and always happy to help! Love this place!

2/13/2012Great place to eat, great place to drink, great place to work. Used to just drink and hang out at the Wild Rose but i figured why not work there too. Great place to be in every way!

2/13/2012Please for the love of god if you are considering going here, Dont! These so called spiritual workers, prayed on dear friends of mine when they were weak and in need of some real guidance. They filled their heads with nonsense and the minute they started to feel better resorted to cruel comments. It is shameful how these people conduct business, please please if you are going to see a spiritual worker ask for their credentials, get references from other people. Dont give your money to charlatans like these.

2/13/2012 1 photoI was actually trying to find the dog park in Albert Park but we never managed it, so this was one of the next closest according to the City of Calgary website.
Parking is a little tough to find but we finally parked on on New St (Ave?) and that worked out fine. We saw 2 dogs when first arriving and that was it for our entire visit.
There are some pluses to this park... it's near the river, so if you're not nervous about your dog and the current, would be a nice place to swim them (unfortunately, mine is 17 lbs and thinks she's stronger than she is, so if I let her to her own devices she'd be floating down the Bow in no time).
It's also a little hilly and has some nice trees - I bet it's a pretty place in the summer.
However, it seems that you're always too close to some sort of "danger" zone... either the street, the river or the pathway. I'm a little confused about the pathway going right through an off leash park. If a cyclist were to hit my dog, who would be the party at fault: me (and my dog) or the cyclist?
All in all, I can't see this being a park I visit often. Maybe I'll try again in the summer and be a little more impressed.

2/13/2012 1 photoI really liked this off leash park, despite the fact that my dog decided today she was going to exercise her voice and, man, does it ECHO!
Finding parking is a little difficult. We finally parked at the end of 9th Ave NW, at the west end of the park. It's a massive park and, the unique part, situated on a hill. Great exercise for both the human and the dog!
I like that you're not always near a road and that all the houses are fenced off so you don't have to worry about a curious dog sniffing around someone's yard. Also, if you've got two people, having one at the top of the hill (especially the one at the NE corner of the park) and one at the bottom, you can tire the dog out calling her back and forth.
The park was well-used and everyone was very friendly. There's also a gorgeous view of downtown and I'd love to see this park in the summer.

2/13/2012Okay woah. Want to know where bulk heaven is? It's on 32nd Avenue in the NE!!! Bulk barn shares a large parking lot in a strip mall area so you are sure to find a spot.
If you need typical baking supplies, spices, candy, chocolate, peanuts, raisins, cranberries, rice, cereal, instant stuff (mash potatoes), chips, did I mention candy or typical baking supplies?? Okay..okay you get the idea...pretty much anything, Bulk Barn is the place to be!! They've packed a small place with loads of supplies!! It's bulk heaven!
I recently visited Bulk Barn for some baking needs..I wanted to make some chocolate molds so I needed chocolate wafers! They have many different colors and different brands of chocolate! They're the good brand too!! They also have pans, molds, lollipop sticks...a ton!! I grabbed an assortment of wafers and chocolates, some raisins, and I had to get some candy cokes too. There were some chocolate covered almonds on sale and I couldn't resist.... I did noticed there were gluten free items as well as organic.
It's fun to walk around and look at all the different items, you just don't know where to start!!! I, of course spent more than I thought I was going to.. you just want everything.
I highly recommend Bulk Barn, you just have to see for yourself!! Plus, its the only one in Calgary thus far! I will be back very soon.

2/12/2012Great sandwiches, vermicelli bowls and soup. Great for a quick lunch stop that is a healthy alternative to the fast food of burgers, hot dogs, etc.

2/12/2012What a delicious breakfast. Ordered a panini-crepe....yum! Gotta mention the abundant fresh, fruit on the side fabulously presented! Highly recommend! If going on a weekend, must make reservations, otherwise during the week, not so bad. Waitstaff was wonderful and attentive. Willing to go back again and again to try the various breakfast items!

2/12/2012Surprise! We're eating here! I thought we were just stopping here to pick up some sweets, but I'm glad to finally check this place off of my bookmarks.
Bikaner isn't exactly close to where I live and it's pretty safe to say that it's worth the trip. The Pindi Chana was delicious, as was the Afghani Pulao (even though I really dislike dried fruits in my food).
Minus one star because the server kept forgetting our drinks. Nice guy, but very forgetful. Then, when we were paying for our food, it took him forever to get to the till. Then, when picking up sweets, it took someone five minutes to show up at the counter. We were the only people in the restaurant, so I worry how service would be if it was a busy night.
Vegetarians be wary; chicken is listed among the "vegetarian" dishes. I wasn't completely worried about this, because my friend Vishnu considers himself a vegetarian, even though he eats fish; chicken and lamb. Lots of ethnic restaurants assume that when you say you don't eat meat, you mean you don't eat beef and/or pork. The servers are careful though, so don't be afraid to ask questions. Be assured that what you will get will be delicious :).

2/12/2012We ordered take out from here and were pleased with the food. It is reasonably priced and the portions were huge. We ordered Pad Thai and a Currry chicken dish, Between my wife and myself we had a lot left over. Enough for my lunch the next day. It was not the best Thai food I have ever had, but was tasty and not oily. Overall we liked the food and giant portions and will order from here again.

2/12/2012I have tried many places around town to find a good dosa/sambar and I have found that India Palace has the best dosa/sambar in Calgary. The dining room is a small and plain room, but the service and food is what I am into here, and India Palace delivers. They have several types of dosas, but my favorite is still the masala, it is a simple potato, vegetarian dosa that comes with a sambar soup that I dip my dosa into because it has such an amazing flavor. The sambar is so good that I always have to order an extra bowl of it.

2/12/2012I went to Skoah when they first opened June 2011, loved the facial and wanted to buy everything Angela put on my face but I already had a cleanser, toner and moisturizer from Chanel so have had to bide my time before going back. Fast forward 8 mths and I booked in for brow star and skinfit treatment. Melissa got my brows straightened out which due to my celtic heritage have a mind of their own. Once I no longer looked like a neolithic cave girl I was introduced to Mable who would be doing my facial. For those of us who aren't so chatty when getting facials Mabel was awesome, she asked me a couple of questions before my facial and talked to me about my skin afterwards that was it. I'm sure if I had wanted to engage in conversation she would have been fine but I was quite happy to pretty much fall asleep while getting an oh so relaxing facial, arm and hand message. I have very fair sensitive skin which is dry due to Calgary's harsh climate. I have tried so many products to try and get some hydration back that I could probably setup my own Sephora Swap Shop! I love the feeling after a Skoah facial my skin is so soft and it glows for days afterwards. This time around I got the cleanser, moisturizer and serum so I am excited to see how my skin will look in 30 days (they have a 60 day return policy...you don't like how the product is working on your skin you can bring it back!!). I'm already booked in for my next facial and can't wait to go back :)

2/12/2012Excellent experience all around. On a Saturday evening, the place was about half full. Great quality food and special extra points for an extensive "vegetarian" menu page since I am the lone vegetarian in my family! My young daughter (3mos old) was with us and they were extremely accommodating ("Babies are welcome!!" they said). The server even went so far as to notice that I was unable to finish dinner because I was rocking the baby to sleep -- and offered to take care of that so I could enjoy my dinner! Extremely friendly staff and attentive service. My family and I intend to return here again soon.

2/12/2012I'm not a sushi eater, but this place had lots of options for someone who wants meat. The veggie tempura was really good with huge pieces, and my husband enjoyed some sushi, though said the pieces are bigger at globefish, but the prices are better here. The Ginger pork was really great, and we had a tasty beef appetizer, can't remember what it was called...served raw. The service was pretty good, though we had two waitresses who didn't seem to know they were both waiting on us. Also, the food came out at odd times, the timing wasn't great. Overall though, very good and we will go back!

2/12/2012Don't buy the remote control helicopters....they are nothing but crap, a big waste of money. I bought the $69.00 one, the gears are plastic and wore out/stripped the very first time I used it. Also the rotot blades break very easily. They have a no return policy on these so don't waste your money. All the stuff in that store is built with the cheapest materials possible....JUNK!!!

2/12/2012 1 photoI had a Dealfind voucher for Glory of India (Sunridge) that I used a few weeks ago. Overall, I was satisfied with the food we received, especially relative to the Dealfind price. It's nice to find restaurants with lunch buffets on the weekend, as my work schedule doesn't allow me to go out for lunch during the week. The Glory of India lunch buffet featured a fairly good selection of foods, including lots of salads, a few rice dishes, about four different vegetarian curries, a few meat dishes, pakoras, naan and desserts. As a vegetarian I felt that I had sufficient choice, and my meat-eating friends were happy as well. On our first trip to the buffet a number of dishes looked quite full, yet were only lukewarm when we got them to our table, but when we went back for second servings a number of dishes had been swapped out and replaced with something different, and all the new food was piping hot. Eat slowly at Glory of India and you'll probably get to try lots of new things each time you go back for more!
While we were there one of the Dealfind "cooking classes" was going on, and I was glad I hadn't bought one of those vouchers (I'd considered it). It was very much a demonstration, with most people not having a chance to do anything hands-on, and the instructor didn't seem very skilled at teaching cooking. He might have been great at preparing the food, but his delivery of the information was awkward and at times unclear.
Random comment: Why are there two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT drinks called "Glorious Monkey" on the menu? Could they not think of ANY other names?

2/12/2012I've only lived in my condo for 2 months and I'm finding that this management is terrible! The manager has been very uncommunicative on every subject I've brought up so far, and with the $150 key deposit (per key!!!) I feel more like I'm renting even though I own my place. All I can hope for is that the board swaps this property management for another one very soon!

2/12/2012This is an average quality Iranian restaurant. The way food is served and presented is authentic and traditional (huge portions of rice and big kababs) so it's a decent place for Iranians who are used to that kind of dining. But if you're not familiar with the menu and don't know how to order, you'll be disappointed by the lack of variety.
My suggestion is to share the food so you can get a good variety and don't forget to order some side dishes.
The food is also Halal.

2/12/2012Love, love, loved it....We came here on a cold winter's night and were warmed by the super friendly welcome by the server. This is some of the best service I have had in this city. The waiter took the time to explain the drinks and dishes and checked in with us often, but never too often. I was particularly impressed by how well timed our dishes were. I have never seen anything quite like this in a Japanese restaurant. Maybe I don't get out that much?
The ambience was very trendy, yet laid back. The quality of the sushi was exquisite. All ingredients fresh and prepared perfectly, but without the bells and whistles you would find at a place like globefish. Pricey? Yes... But we have spent more for way lower quality. I can't really think of anything negative to say about this place and that says a lot.

2/12/2012Boy oh boy! Whatever you do, DON'T ORDER THE LAMB!!! Unless you want to puke your guts out for 24 hours non-stop! The so called lamb kebab is hard as rock and their lamb medallions are just simply disgusting.
They charge you $18 for a plate of couscous! Seriously?!
The place is fancy and exotic so if you're into that kinda stuff and you don't mind burning some cash, give it a try!

2/12/2012Went here for my brother's Birthday party last night and had a blast. Being the super punctual one in the group, I naturally arrived well before everyone else and was a bit nervous because this was my first time there and the restaurant reserved us such a big section. As it turn out, I was welcomed within seconds by the manager who was super accommodating. He treated me as if I was a regular and filled me in on all of the details. ie. who was coming, what they were serving, and the most important part...what was in my bro's cake. Peanut Butter cups and lots of cherries...Yum.
The server was very kind and professional, even though our party and my brother were a bit out of hand after consuming a few beverages. The appies were tasty and they had a live band that night, which played very good tunes. I especially, liked the mechanical bull that hangs from the ceiling and blows smoke.
After talking to my sister in law, I discovered that this place is consistently good to visit at night. The food is usually good and the service always outstanding. The only time I would think twice about coming is for lunch. I hear the food isn't so good at that time. I would also think twice about bringing in children, its more of a pub atmosphere.

2/12/2012Quite disappointing really!
It's a nice little romantic place but that's the only good thing I can say about it. Average quality sushi (maybe above average for Calgary) and terrible service summarizes the whole experience. We had 7 orders and it took them 35 minutes between bringing the first and the last! How can you enjoy your meal when someone has to wait an additional 35 minutes for their plate?

2/12/2012This place is pretty amazing! Even the burger will surprise you!
You should absolutely try the "Italian Meats" and their "yam fries"! The staff are very friendly even when it's crazy busy (12 to 1 pm).
Not to mention that the prices are very reasonable!

2/12/2012What's not to like about a place where all the patrons inside think I am the owner of Habitat. Every few minutes I get a tap on the shoulder or a girl looking at me with a seductive smile only to be disappointed when she looks up at the stage and sees my exact double spinning on the ones and twos.
We came to Habitat last night for Sabz birthday and it was my second time back there in one night (technically inside only once) and Angelo's third time back inside there hahaha. Three times is the lucky number of tries right?
The place was fairly busy with people plastered out of their minds doing the hoedown throwdown. The music was pretty good although for me when it comes to the House genre I generally like it a little dirtier and a bit harder.
It was fairly easy to get drinks, not too big of lineups and if there was you can just squeeze yourself inbetween other people and skip the waiting part.
This place is not bad at all if you need your House fix on a weekend night. Just expect if you have a haircut like mine random girls are going to pet your hair. Weird, I know.

2/12/2012I've been going to this place since I was in my teens but I haven't been there in who knows how long. After Angelo and I had our great adventure for the evening hanging out with Sabz & Co. we decided to partake in a slice of pizza.
We decided to see if Awesome Kitchen was open and almost after leaving Angelo hollered at me to come back and so we went inside this hole in the wall pizza joint met by a bizzare variety of individuals.
Let me tell you, this dude that works inside there I will call him the Pizza Nazi. He is basically like Sukiyaki's (The CORE) Noodle Soup Nazi. He's going to yell at you and ask you what you want. When you pay him he's gonna throw your change at you so be ready or it'll be on the floor. Once you've ordered STFU and just wait for your pizza to come cause if you're talking to him while he's talking to someone else he's going to give you the HAND.
We had the Tandoori Chicken Pizza, it was mad delicious, nice and tangy and honestly just seeing the characters inside there make it all worth it.

2/12/2012I have never actually been a customer of Zeneba. I bought a Dealfind coupon for a car detailing business that happened to be operating out of the same building - or at least the parking lot. The receptionist worked in the Zeneba reception area. I had the unfortunate luck to have to wait 4 hours for my car to be detailed. I waited in the staff lunchroom of Zeneba and I did use their bathroom at one point.
DO NOT GO TO ZENEBA! The lunchroom was filthy - it was 10am when I arrived there and there were chicken bones all over the floor. It smelled. There was food stains on the walls, the chairs and crumbs and sticky crap all over the tables. Sure - it's just the lunchroom - but wait! When I went upstairs to use the bathroom that Zeneba customers would use it was filthy too! It was 11am so you would expect the bathroom to be clean but it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week.
Besides the cleanliness issues - this has the worst ambience for a day spa. It feels like a day spa set up for the day in a run down office building.
