A true benefit of being in the Travel industry is the excellent perks. Staying here was one of those perks. I suppose you could call it "business", since it's part of your job to know the products you sell.
A true benefit of being on good terms with the Sales manager is getting booked into a Luxury Suite. A massively sized suite. You might even say it was a sweet suite. A suite with a jacuzzi and a flat screen TV...in the bathroom. In the bathroom with Bulgari toiletries. The same bathroom I intentionally walked around barefoot in to feel what Italian marble floors feel like on my feet. Felt pretty good. All of it.
The service was impeccable. We were welcomed into our room with a spread of fruit and chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle of red and some fancy bottles of water.
We had access to the Executive Club Lounge. They allow you one complimentary alcoholic beverage and anything more is from the Honor Bar. We made sure to take advantage of the evening hors d'oeuvres and continental breakfast.
We also took full advantage of the free espresso and tea and views.
The bed was huge, the linens were beautiful and soft and of a high thread count.
There was another flat big screen TV in the main room. We watched some funny Canadian shows.
We were able to turn the lights off by hitting a button next to the bed. We could close the curtains by hitting a button next to the bed. There were a lot of nifty buttons that did nifty things in our sweet suite.
Granted, our experience was not like what it may be for others, but it was enough of an excellent experience that I would be giddy to recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Vancouver.
