Doyle Street proves itself with eclectic tidings. A side street for dining, drinks, treats and pet food, it only seems right that an art gallery should be added to the mix.

Zwicker's is another fantastic downtown addition that offers a variety of painting, graphics and sculpture by artists both living and of times past. A merging of contemporary work with the historically relevant is what gives Zwicker's an interesting edge, as the curated shows always seem to impact as a collective.

Its a less sterile environment- the evidence of work flow isn't hidden in at final viewing. Many rooms, many color palates, and customized decor create a warmth beyond the usual. Perhaps its the large staircase and unmentioned details, but Zwicker's provides an optimal environment for the actual art, but takes it closer to home.

This is an inviting spot to venture, with some guaranteed sweet peeks. A downtown pit-stop and a moment to marvel.

I am with you Ang M. I am completely an admirer of the art. Maybe in my next life I can actually purchase. This is a great gallery, it has a very warm feel to it and you feel very welcomed when you go in.

It is hard to believe this was Founded in 1886. It is one of the nicest galleries in town. Check out their website and yes it seems the cat is
definitely part of the family there and the gallery.

I can't afford to actually buy art (insert violins here), but I definitely appreciate it. This weekend I went into Zwicker's Gallery to pick up a program for Saturday night's Nocturne "Art at Night" event, and wound up looking around a bit and having the most interesting conversation with the gallery's proprietor. The place feels like a real artists' space - not a perfectly clean white space, but a cluttered and busy place for artists to showcase their work. A resident kittycat makes the gallery even more inviting, and she sometimes poses underneath the surrealist paintings in the main room, making them even more surreal.  Worth a visit.
