Port Moody, BC
This was worth the price of admission. It's expensive, but fantastic. We went on the mammoth tour. 10 ziplines with a lunch break at a cabin. The cost was $200. You zip back and forth across between Whistler and Blackcomb above Fitzimmons Creek.
It starts off with a short easy line and you work your way up into the longer steeper ones. The leaders are super friendly and very knowledgeable. The tree houses are neat, with the bridges between them. Ours was in the rain and I didn't feel like it would have been THAT much better in the sun. It was still a thrill.
Now I want to go back and do it in the winter, or maybe a twilight tour. I will definately be back. -

Ever want to soar like Superman across the sky, or dangle safely over a pristine river where bears come to feed? The good news is that this is all possible with a little help from the kind folks at Ziptrek Ecotours.
Last year for my birthday I decided to beat my fear of heights once and for all and treat myself to a zipline adventure. I registered for Ziptrek's bear tour with my dad, husband and friend, and the four of us ended up having the time of our lives. Our tour group was fairly small (about 8 or 9 in total), which is the perfect size -more would mean you'd have to wait ages for each person to cross each zipline.
After meeting with our group and strapping ourselves with all kinds of harnesses, we were piled into a van and taken deep into the wild. The tours take place among the trees, on these wooden platforms that make you feel as though you're travelling in an Ewok village. (Star Wars fans: you're welcome) The ziplines got longer and more exciting as the tour progressed, and on the final crossing we were shown how to flip ourselves upside down and soar across. It was great, and this is coming from someone who is afraid of heights!
Overall the experience was great, but it's too bad that the tiny practise zipline at the beginning counts as one of the crossings. Also, there's a lot of stair climbing and walking involved which I thought was nice, but it means it isn't an appropriate activity for those with mobility issues (hence why my mom didn't participate). The tour is a little pricey, but it's a lot of fun, and I imagine it would be especially exciting for tourists, or those visiting the area for the first time. This is beautiful British Columbia at its very best. -

I came up to Whistler with my girlfriend's family back in the day. It was the first time I had ever been in the summer because my family's time share is in the winter.
Whistler is just as beautiful in the summer as the winter.
I have never been on a ZipTrek before but I am an adrenaline junky so I was down!
I have to say that it was a lot of fun. I wasn't as Thrilling as I thought it would be. It's not like bungy jumping or riding a roller coaster where you get a told adrenaline rush. But it was definitely a cool experience to say you have done something like that before
Would I do it again here probably not. Would I do it somewhere else, absolutely. -
Review from D.J. Y.
OMG....SUCH A BLAST!!!
Let me preface this review, 1) I don't like heights, 2) I'm basically terrified of high places, 3) I don't climb ladders taller than myself....I'm 5'5" by the way...
Needless to say I wasn't really gung-ho for this family adventure, BUT, once I got out there standing on the viewing platform, with my knees knocking, there really wasn't much to do than join the rest of the crowd in the clouds! Actually there is a $50 cancellation fee if you feel faint....
Our 2 guides, one from Ireland, Darragh, and the other from New Zealand, Josh, were a hoot, they kept us in stitches and made me feel a lot better stepping off of a little wooden platform at 150ft in the air.
They both knew I wasn't that trilled to be out there, my body english was getting the best of me, Josh noted that when he saw me clinging for my life at the viewing platform, he'd have to watch out for me.... but both kept reassuring me that they would take good care of my family....I was thinking, wait... what? After I'm dead? The guides were chill, didn't lay on the "macho" attitude nor did they pressure anyone in our group of 10 to do more than what we felt we were capable or willing to do, i.e. hands off, upside down, etc....screaming at the top your lungs was per the norm...a lot of woof howling from our guide Darragh, he totally made the trip for us.
We opted for the "bear" tour, 5 lines with if memory serves the longest run was about 1200ft long and 150ft in the air, something like that, I didn't take very good notes as my hands were shaking most of the time...
Zip lines cross-crossed a creek and had us up where the eagles fly, well that's what it felt like. One of the older ladies in our group was a sky diving fan and trill seeker, she kept jumping up and down on the suspension bridges that linked the platforms together. I was tempted to toss her over board, but after turning around and seeing me pale as a ghost she was kind enough to stop acting like a 14yo...lol....
We had a great group, guides as well at members, all were clapping and cheering each other on, it made for a wonderful trip.
Granted I still hate heights, but I will say this trip, it was a B-L-A-S-T!!!! We'll be back for sure!!! I can't believe I just wrote that... -

As you can read from the other reviews, this is a MUST-DO in Whistler whenever you head up! I was a first time zipliner, and myself and the husband signed up for the eagle tour, the advanced tour. Mind you, I've never ziplined, so at first, I was a bit intimated by going on this level. I was so glad I took this particular tour!! 3 hours of fun with an intimate group and instructors.
Our 2 guides, one from Ireland and the other from UK, was so upbeat and ecstatic, which just means that we had tours that loved what they do. We went through a total of 5 ziplines and on one of them particular, you get up to ~50mph on the zipline over the river ravine--no joke! Just made me appreciate the greeness of Whistler/Blackcomb even more! In short, the eagle tour I took had 5 ziplines, 4 treetop bridges with one zipline that includes a 2000-foot monster that drops 20 stories!!!
Will definitely try it again when I return to Whistler. I think it'd be cool to do this during the wintertime! -
Review from Angela K.
SO MUCH FUN!! THIS IS A MUST-DO on a trip to Whistler! You get to zipline between Whistler and Blackcomb - amazing!
For about $100 you get to do 5 lines! And here's a tip, opt for a tour after 5pm you get the $100 price (non peak). Otherwise, it runs for about $120. And since sun doesn't set til 9:30pm in BC, no prob zip-lining in the evening.
Had some great tour guides on this line - including Irish guy Darrah. Very funny and kept our group laughing while we were zipping. -

As you can see from my profile picture, I did the Ziptrek Ecotour. Actually, this was 18-months ago, on the first snow day of Whistler 2009, and I thought I would add to the reviews here.
When you see 70-something's on here, you know that you're never too old to do it.
Great adrenaline rush. Great to be outdoors and to learn about the Whistler eco-system. You can tell the guides love what they do. I recommend this experience to everyone (aged 11 upwards, I suppose).
BTW, there was a man there, who confessed he was terribly scared of heights (even when climbing the stairs) but said he felt happy enough to do it, and said it was a fantastic experience. Suffice it to say... it's taken a while, but my husband is willing to join me next time! Hoorah! -

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!
I am still pumped up from the Eagle Tour that I took with my brother yesterday - it was an absolutely amazing experience!
Don't even hesitate - if you are visiting Whistler this MUST be on your itinerary. I know folks who have done it in the Summer and loved it, but taking the tour in a snow storm was phenomenal. The views, the great commentary from Mel and Marchy and the adrenaline rush are unparalleled in Whistler.
I upgraded at the last minute and am so glad I did! Take it from me, spend the extra 20 dollars and book the Eagle Tour - it's higher and longer than the Bear Tour - and absolutely worth it.
I recommend this experience to anyone - and don't forget to tip your guides! I was disappointed to see that I was the only one who gave them a bit at the end. As a fellow tour guide, I know how much it stings to have no one tip when you have done a GREAT job like these folks did. :DListed in: My Very Favourites

Ziptrek is a MUST when visiting Whistler. They have a great staff and it is a great tour. You can see every one working there enjoys their jobs. We did the Bear tour. It was 5 lines. The first one is a short training line. Then they take you up the bigger and longer zip lines from there. Between lines they tell you many things about the forest and area. Our guides made the trip a blast. They worked so well with some of the fears that came in the group and I know everyone in our group had a great time! The last line is one of the best. I will save the surpise for when you do it but I will say this, they will give you advise on the last line. Take their advise and do it!!!!!!!!!! We had so much fun that we almost did the Eagle tour the very next morning. We decided to save it and do it next year when we come back. We will be back and I can hardly wait!!!!!!!!!!
thanks for making our weekend Ziptrek! Cant wait to see you again soon!

I went on the mid level tour with them this summer and it was SOOO MUCH FUN!!!! (after you get past the first jump that is.. )
The 2 guides we had were ridiculously cheerful and very good at their job. I had a few foreigners with me, but they did their best at communicating with them and making sure they didn't feel lost or uncomfortable.
It definitely is an "Eco" tour, every where we go we stopped and learnt about something ecolious.
I WILL be going back in the winter to see what its like to zip through the forest covered in snow :)
-1 star for being on the fairly expensive side and having the "test run" track being 1 of the "5" lines that are included in the package.Listed in: Whistler, BC

You HAVE to do this! The Eagle tour is great. Don't be a pansy and go for the Bear tour unless you are really, truly super scared. The scenery is amazing and the guides are fantastic and funny. I felt completely comfortable, and I get a little scared of hights...just sayin'.

This is a must do in Whistler. We went last week so yes it was cold and a little snowy but it was absolutely beautiful out there. You are high above the ground in the tree tops looking over the Fitzsimmons River and down to the Village. It was such an adrenaline rush and by the end of our Bear Tour I had wished we signed up for the Mammoth tour! We did just about everything there was to do in Whistler this time of year and this was our favourite!
Another great thing about the Ziptrek Eco Tour is that this organization takes care of the environment (Eco Friendly... obviously) as well as the proceeds are donated to charitable organizations around the world. Africa Aids, Assistance to farmers, etc. We would have paid for this regardless for the thrill of the ride itself but the fact that the money is put into great places makes it even more of a worthwhile cause. Also, the tour guides were very knowledgeable about the area and we learned alot! Who knew Whistler was a rain forest?!?
I LOVE THIS!!! If you have the opportunity I would DEFINITELY recommend it -

I believe I can fly/
I believe I can touch the sky/
I think about it every night and day/
Spread my wings and fly away.... on a zipline!
The "Bear" tour was an amazing experience. I loved, Loved, LOVED zipping between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and across Fitzsimmons Creek. Our guides, Ellie and Cathy, were wonderful-- knowledgeable, funny, supportive and professional. We felt safe the entire time and were well taken care of.
Ziptrek Ecotours did a fabulous job from beginning to end. Making reservations was a snap; checking-in went smoothly; getting harnessed and transported up to the ziplines went without a hitch.
Two tips:
1) There are no bathrooms during the tour so regulate your fluid intake and go potty before the tour.
2) You can bring your own camera, but I highly recommend not trying to take pictures or video while you are zipping. It goes by VERY fast and you want to savor the moment and enjoy the scenery. Don't spend the precious time fussing with your camera or looking through lens. Not worth it. They have a photographer taking action shots that are way better than anything you (or your traveling companion) will ever get and prices are reasonable ($25 for a CD, additional $15 per person added to the CD... my BF and I walked away with a couple dozen photos.) -
Review from Krista J.
I have been to Whistler in the summer a handful of time and really love it there. I had never done the zip-line before - mainly because I am afraid of heights.
This time I got up the courage to go for it.
Our guides were Derek and Dolce. They were super nice, friendly, and easygoing.
We do a small short practice one to get the feel of it and they explained everything very well and they made me feel at ease.
That was until I saw the first zip-line. It was way above the treetops and it was long - you could not even see where it ended on the other side. It was called Godzilla if that tells you anything.
OK, now I am scared. I can feel the panic starting to rise. I promise myself I am going to go through with it, but I am scared.
They clip me in and I make sure they have checked and doubled checked and then off I go.
There was loud screaming the first half of that line for me, but then I stopped and realized it was really fun. I was about 200 ft off the ground and I got up to about 40 miles per hour on that one.
There were 5 separate zip-lines on that tour - all varying in height and speed - but they all seemed very high and very fast to me.
Derek and Dolce were great guides.
It was totally worth it and I fully recommend it!Listed in: Unusual Entertainment

31st birthday + Eagle Tour = Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeee
The Ewok style treetop pathways were awesome.
The 2000 footer with a rescue retrieval was a definite highlight.
And the upside down finale was indeed the perfect ending.

Review from Jenny B.
I was disappointed at the service, therefore deduction of one star. I was a tourist from CA (California in this case, not Canada) and yes, I admitted I was late for 15mins, however, the tour was just beginning to go when we got there, yet they said that our space was taken by others who's on Standby and we're almost not allowed to go at all and lost the money just like that.
Apparently after my friend there patiently talked to them, we're allowed to get into the other tour that had shorter length zipline, 1100 feet, instead of 2000 feet that we signed up for. Cost wise not much difference $110 and $120, so I figured, we're already here, we take whatever we can rite?
Everything else was amazing, we're ziplining through the forest, up above the river gorge, it's gorgeous. We had like 5 ziplines to go through and as you went on each one, the guide would teach you how to do "cannon-ball" to get to the other side faster and on the last one, she told us that we could flip back upside-down if you want and I did it, it's freakin' awesome.
Other than ziplining you're also walking up the trees to get to the zipline, so it was pretty fun and not boring at all, and smell of fresh air of the forest, just simply amazing. Something that can't be missed out if you're in Vancouver area, based on my research, this zipline trek supposed to be better than the one in Grouse Mountain.
There's a photographer took your picture while you're crossing the longest zipline in this tour, which is about 1100feet, pretty memorable to get and those of you who has plenty of secured pockets, bring your camera. I didn't know we could bring our own and apparently none in our group even brought one, so now I tell you the newcomers please bring a camera!!! You'll regret if you don't! =)
Will I come back? Yes, I will come back to do the Eagle tour! Hopefully very soon, the fare and visa going there isn't easy for me :) Wish me luck!Listed in: Bucket List of an Adrenaline…

Review from Jen K.
Don't we all have dreams where we imagine we can fly? Well, if you're not afraid of heights then you should give this a try. The funny part is I'm very safety conscious, but once I knew I was in good hands and they have all the safety controls in place, I totally let go and just loved the whole experience.
They operate their tours 365 days a year and you take a van from the village up to their location in the trees. On the way you get a little ecology lesson, since this is an eco-tour, and also pass some of the Olympic venues they'll be using in 2010.
I did the Ziptrek Eagle Tour and there were about 12 people from ages 10 to 70. For most it was their first zipline experience. What was interesting is the more you weigh the faster you go, so those that are under 115 pounds are more likely to get stuck on the line (this doesn't happen often). You can start at age 6, but kids under a certain weight ride tandem.
You get basic instruction about how to go faster or slower based on your comfort level, brake at the end of the line, and flip upside down or do more acrobatic moves if that's your thing. By the end I was zooming down the lines upside down with no hands and was begging for more.Listed in: Whistler-in Dixie

I'm so glad that we splurged for the Eagle Run! 5 different lines took us back and forth offering fantastic views of the ancient rainforest. Included is the world's longest zipline at 2000 feet. Our guides Jessica and David were very thorough when it came to safety. I forgot to feel nervous as soon as I'd completed the first line. At the beginning of each line they took turns talking about the plant life and sustainability. It was a bit rehearsed but nonetheless added to our experience. Our group included teenagers to seniors and everyone was having fun. On the last line the guides encouraged upside-down starfish moves and even the most nervous of our group attempted it. I couldn't believe I ran the whole last line upside down!!
The Eagle Run is $120 pp and takes about 3 hours. If you're looking for some safe exhilaration I'd definitely recommend this trip! -

My boyfriend and I had our first ziptrekking experience above Robson Square during the Olympics, and received a 10% off coupon that we were going to try to use before summer was over.
We started our Labour Day long weekend by driving up to Whistler and doing the Bear tour, which is the 'original' ecotour that is recommended for beginners and families. We had two guides, who first had us do a test run on a short 100m. zipline beside the Whistler-Blackcomb gondola. Then after a 10-minute drive, we were in the middle of the rainforest (I didn't know Whistler was considered rainforest territory) and ready for our first real zip across to Whistler mountain, over Fitzsimmons Creek.
What I didn't realize about the tour was that you really learn a lot about the ecology of the forest, including the wildlife in the area. Our guide said there are about 80 black bears (the mild kind), 2,500 cougars, and then a number of grizzly bears (the aggressive kind) that you don't want to mess with. Ziptrek also adheres to the 5 'Natural Steps' about how people can be sustainable, which are explained at different stops of the tour.
It's a good thing I didn't make a habit of looking down at how high we were. Otherwise it would have been much harder to leave the platform like it was up top of Robson Street. We were 120 m. above creek level, I believe. Our 3rd zipline was longer - about 1,000 m. where we got to pose for the camera. I went hands free then. The 4th line was the longest and I took some crazy video footage of the height. I was slow to reach the end so I had to get towed in by Carrie. whew.
This tour has some amazing photo opps of the view and of nature. We didn't spot any bears but it was a sunny, cloud-free day so I can't complain.
Our 5th and last zipline was the 'freestyle' line where they taught us how to go upside down. I channeled my inner acrobatic child and crossed my ankles over the harness while dropping my hands down for "the full 10 points."
It was the most thrilling 2 hours of my life, and totally worth it for the $100 we paid each. Ziptrekking is great thing to do on a sunny weekend to get away from the city and explore the nature of Whistler. We still have one discount coupon left, so we can use it for the more challenging Eagle tour, maybe in Winter before or after a day of snowboarding. We were told that people actually do that. And we thought we were the thrill-seekers!
The only thing I would have liked was to avoid the wedgies you get every time you leave and arrive on the platform between zipping. But you can't really fight gravity, can you.
Bravo to Ziptrek Ecotours for giving us an exciting and educational experience! -
Review from Denis C.
We "Bear Toured" with Ziptrek for our first ziplining experience. We had an awesome time. Our guides were two young Australian gals that made the entire fun.
We did five lines, the first one was a practice line--with most of us doing some upside-down tricks by the end of the tour. There is a photographer up in the trees, waiting to take pictures on the third zipline. Do something crazy for your pics--try going upside down.
While moving from line to line, the guides will give you short talks on the ecology of the forest--which as a global citizen, I can appreciate.
After your tour, hit up the village for some grub. All of that excitement will make you hungry.
If you have a small camera, bring a cord or a scrunchy (sp?) to tie you camera to your harness. My only regret is that I forget to record one of the lines on my camera.
Got kids? Take them! -
Review from Skylar L.
I highly recommend taking a Ziptrek tour while in Whistler. Safety seems paramount as is a better understanding of the ecology of Whistler. I regrettably only went once, but I had a great time. I've always loved ziplines, and these did not disappoint. Sure, on the last one I ripped my favorite jeans, but that was a small price to pay. The guides were funny and knowledgeable and made the most reluctant person at ease.
Open both summer and winter, the beauty Ziptrek allows you to see is breathtaking.
And did I mention the hot chocolate at the end? Yummers.Listed in: Active Whistler

Fly like a pie in the Sky!
I have Ziplined 3 with 3 different companies. Ziptrek was my first, then another near revelstoke and lastly in Costa Rica.
Since Ziptrek was my virgin ziplining experience, I was very pleased with the thrill it gave me. It was a great beginners guide to ziplining. However, I gave this company 4 stars because after doing 3 different lines, Ziptrek was by far the wimpiest of them all.
The costa rican ziplines were out of this world fun! and way more thrilling. There were differences in gear and set up between the different zipline companies. I feel that Ziptrek had the most secure and safest lines. their staff was very knowledgable and friendly.
It's always a good choice to go ziptreking! guaranteed fun :) -

I screamed like a big girl and almost pooped my pants but it was so fun!
The Eagle Run is the best. You do 5 different zips with the longest one zipping you down at least 50mph and 20 story drop. The guides were amazing and the group size was perfect. This is worth the $126. You will not forget it for sometime to come and it will be the closest you will come to flying like an Eagle...hence the name!
WARNING: Men you may become a soprano for the three hours you are on this tour. The boys get snugly pushed inside with the tight fitting attire. Just grin and bare it for a bit.Listed in: Favorite Canadian Haunts

This was a great event but not worth the price. We did the canopy walk with our children. The cost for our family of four was $157. The tour lasted only 1hour 25 minutes. Was it really cool? YES! Was it worth the total cost? Nope.

This is extremely fun. The hardest part is stepping off for the first time. I volunteered to go first so I would not lose my nerve...it was exhilerating. By the time you do two or three of them you lose all fear. On one of the last ones I went upside down with no hands. A must do.
It is beautiful out there too. -

So much fun! This was our first experience on a ziptrek but it wasn't our last! We go now wherever we can! The staff is very knowledgeable about the habitat in which you are zipping and the walkways through the trees are very surreal and make you feel like you've left the modern world behind for a little bit. I felt that they really took great care with safety and the course and walkways were very well-maintained. Zipping over the river at high speed is so much fun! I would come back and do this again for sure. This is a very neat thing to do and the nature walk itself is worth it.

What an awesome time. We went on the Eagle Tour, which includes the 2200 ft line. You're on it for more than 30 seconds and it is incredible flying through the trees so fast.
You HAVE to try hanging upside down with no hands. Makes you feel so free! -
Review from Purnima M.
This is a really great deal considering the variety of ziplines you get to experience (especially on the Eagle tour), the panoramic views, the suspension bridges, and the informative guide to the rainforest ecosystem. There are few other places that make you feel so breathlessly knowledgeable. Literally.
Also, don't pass up the opportunity to hang upside down like a bat at least once on the course. The guides highly encourage it, and you think they're crazy, until you find yourself coaxed into it somehow and then can't imagine why you'd ever want to see the world right side up again. -
Review from Cara Q.
OK, we were supposed to go to this with my dad while they were visiting from CA, but he forgot his passport and it was just me and my husband for the day. We tried calling them that morning to get out of my dad's reservation but they have a 24 hour cancellation policy and they said they wouldn't be able to do anything about it. But when we got there the woman we checked in with went to someone and came back to tell us they would not charge us for his reservation. I thought that was really nice. I would have preferred that they at least let us reschedule for a future visit when we called earlier but this was better than nothing. I was aware of the policy, but i was hoping for some sympathy here, it costs more than $120 per reservation and that's not chump change for us.
So we get there, the clouds are moving in (this was labor day weekend) and I am afraid of heights. But I really wanted to try this. I am very comfortable and familiar with the equipment as well so that helped me. We did the Eagle tour and our guides we Jen and Rusty (I think? cute Australian dude).
We started with a drive up to the top of the course, passing by the luge track for the Olympics and getting a complete history from our guides. The first zip was shorter than the rest, and not too scary for me. You don't even have to climb a high platform for this one. You go kinda fast, that is what spooked me the most, but you get used to it. The break line always slows you down at the end. The platforms aren't nearly as scary as they look on the website, the ones we were on were usually on a slope of a hill so you aren't really just sitting up high out in the open like i assumed.
The next two lines got longer progressively and we have to cross a short suspension bridge (yes there are slats between the wood and holes! but it's very stable and safe). I actually get creeped out by these little bridges more than the zipline. But the 3rd was spooky, longer than "all three of the previous if you put them together. As long as two Eiffle towers" and it's HIGH up and you go down down down, for about 60 seconds. I was really missing my xanax, but this ten year old girl was with us who was fearless so i couldn't be too freaked out! But I was. It took me a minute, but Rusty distracted me with some camera talk and I finally jumped off the stairs. It was thrilling to say the least but fun.
The last run they let you hang upside down or do whatever you want, every person in the group did that except me. I don't mind, it's thrilling enough, but my husband went upside down, so did the 10 year old, all the way.
You do get a rundown on the ecology, some environmental education that's all very friendly and not condescending in any way. I am an earth-friendly gal so none of it was news to me, but i appreciate that they donate some of their profits to environmental causes and that they try to spread awareness.
I didn't realize our guides accepted tips or i would have been prepared to give them each one. They deserve it, do a great job and make sure everyone is having fun. I did think the cost was high, but when we were done we thought it was totally worth the money. I recommend it, just prepare yourself for the crowds at Whistler and bring your own food so you don't have to eat their overpriced restaurants up there. -

During a recent Whistler trip, my friend and I decided to go on the "Eagle" zip line trip. This trip was not only worth ever penny but I wish I would have paid the extra money and gone on the Mammoth tour. This was my first time "zipping" and I felt totally safe. Our guides were excellent, funny and made the trip even better than if we were just zipping. I would recommend this as a must do in Whistler.

This was our family's (two adults, two children 12 and 14) first time zip lining and it was an experience to always remember. You never want it to end.
You definitely have to pay a little extra and go for the Eagle tour which includes a memorable 2000 ft long ride. The guides were very thorough with the gear before each ride, and also included a short speech about the ecosystem at Whistler, hence the name EcoTour.
My younger daughter even got stuck when her line didn't catch at the end of the run and she went backwards for a short while, and was stuck for a minute hanging hundreds of feet over the river. She never panicked and the guide was able to go out and bring my daughter in without any issues. Part of the memory.
A definite do not miss at Whistler! -

Very cool. We opted for the Eagle tour and found it to be worthwhile. Our guides were funny, entertaining and knowledgeable. It didn't hurt that we went on an amazing day in June. It was chilly so dressing warmly is important and they take pains to warn you that if it's raining you need to bring proper attire. There are no food stops or bathroom breaks, so though you may be tempted, it's probably best to avoid the pre-trek coffee unless you can comfortably hold your water for 3 hours.
The minimum age for kids is 6, so if you have an age span in your progeny, be prepared for that.
