Perfect strangers keep telling me how much they like my haircut.

I am normally almost pathologically strict about who I let cut my hair - I've spent years with the same (very good) stylist, but I took a chance and went to see Tricia at Zinc. Because she spent almost ten years with Vidal Sassoon, I figured she had to know what she was doing.

Her technical cut is amazing, for one thing. And her understanding of how to work with your head shape and hair type combined with her awesome sense of style make her stand out. She was honest with me and I decided to let her do whatever she wanted, which was absolutely the right decision. I also loved that she explained what she was doing at almost every step of the cut.

Zinc is a funky salon - all the stylists have incredible cuts themselves; super fun and fashion-forward.

So for seriously great hair, go see Tricia!

Went there as a result of a Groupon for a haircut. Groupon cost $35 or so, and was for a hair cut valued up to $65. I originally booked with someone whose services were apparently valued at less than the $65, but they said they'd throw in some deep conditioning treatment. I agreed. I then had to change the time, though, and ended up with a stylist who apparently cost $100. OUCH. In any case, I was very happy because they didn't charge me a penny more than my Groupon (although obviously didn't give me the conditioning treatment). So - in terms of customer services, I was definitely happy.

In terms of my actual cut, I can't say I was overjoyed. She did a fine job, and perhaps it's because I was just asking for a trim and tidy of my long hair, but it wasn't anything worth writing home about. Also, I got bangs, but was slightly dissapointed because after getting home and washing them, it turns out they were lopsided both in terms of length, and in terms of amount on the left vs. the right.

I probably won't go back for two reasons:
    1) I will never, ever pay $100 for a hair cut, and
    2) I've had better cuts for less in my life.
Oh. And I'm kind of a groupon-type voucher junkie so I already have my next hair cut lined up elsewhere...

I guess it was my own fault for assuming men's hair cut prices were more or less the same.

My last cut was from Zinc, and while the fellow was polite enough, it was the longest (in time) cut I've received and cost $60. For a simple men's "make it shorter" hair cut. Worse, it was far too short -- wasn't given any of those "how about THIS length?" breakpoints until I finally had to say that was enough.

To summarize: Cut took too long, the hair was too short, and it cost much more than prices for a similar cut elsewhere (around $30).
