I probably wouldn't have ventured here unless it was attached to our hotel in the Pacific Palisades.

We've come here for drinks and fun before and gotten room service from them.  The room service is alright.  A little overpriced, of course, but convenient and a good meal.  I mean, I got an Inca berry with my french toast, that was a nice surprise!

Drinking here was actually fun.  We had a great bar tender, a huge list of martinis to try and no drunk kiddies.  Now I usually would assume anywhere with good martinis and an older crowd to be more snobby.  And it is.  But you can avoid all that by grabbing the chairs in front of the fireplace and having offensive conversations.  At least, that's what I do.

I was here for dinner and drinks after a meeting at the Pacific Palisades... love the hotel, but not the restaurant.

The vibe is nice and our group got to head to the penthouse which has a great view of the city.

But for food quality, it was very average.  I had the Warm Mushroom Crostinis to start which were quite tasty with the feta and mushrooms, but the baguette was cut in a way that was much too hard to maneuver as an appy.  I had a seafood pasta for my main and this was a disappointment - a few of our mains got held up for an unknown reason and the sauce was dry and bland.  I swear the pasta was sitting around while they were trying to locate stuff for the sauce since it was barely lukewarm when it arrived.  It was so slow that I skipped out on dessert - yes, it was THAT slow that I turned down dessert... not a good sign.

It's a bit too far down on Robson for my liking and given the experience, I wouldn't make a special effort to come.

There should be a star labeled 'weird' because that sums up my experience at Zin. I'll preface my review by stating that my only visit was a couple years ago and it was on my first date with my gf.

It was dine out Vancouver time, the menu looked interesting so we went. Upon walking in it felt gypsy-like. When we sat down it was like sitting on a sagging couch, quite weird to eat. I can't remember what I had but I do remember the presentation being cool, but the taste not so much. The waitress was clearly hitting on my girl which made for an interesting service.

Super trendy vibe right on Robson street. Although it is a little further down the street than most people venture on a given night, Zin is not a bad place at all to chill out and have a drink or 2. (they have a great martini selection).

It caters to an older crowd (so i did feel a little out of place when i went here, but nonetheless had lots of fun!). The decor is very posh, and i feel as though this is a place you would have to dress up to come to. I would probably come back here again - but maybe not for another few years!!

Terrible food, we had the French onion soup, Casear salad and lamb cheeks.  Suspect it all was from a can, truly awful.

Go somewhere else, any where else.

Couldn't resist their special lounge menu so I headed out to here one friday afternoon. With $2 a pop, I ordered one of every appetizer along with a white wine bellini. All of the food was alright and definitely preferable over any value meal you can get for the price. My drink however, tasted like a fruit can syrup on the rocks. Better stick to wine or beer here. Atmosphere was fine, service was fine, might come back here for drinks and food when I'm on a budget or if i am feeling like cheap munchies on Robson.

I tried Zin while staying at the Pacific Palisades hotel.  As hotel guest my boyfriend and I were offered a "wine tasting hour" from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm (apparently this is a new program) which is a little early for my taste, I would prefer an hour later or even 5 pm - 6 pm...oh well.  We could have 2 complimentary glasses each which was pretty cool and brought us to the restaurant two times during our four night stay.

The featured wines were ok, nothing to get too excited about, I did like the fact that they featured local wineries (love to support the locals!).  We tried a few things off of the $2 appy menu...short rib poutine and the naan pizza.  Our first night we opted to sit outside since is was such a nice evening.  Our waitress wasn't very attentive, I had to retrieve my own water from the bar, and the naan pizza we had that night was just okay.  I'm pretty sure they used a boiler to heat and brown the cheese on the pizza because the onion was still pretty raw making the "onion-y" taste overwhelming...but for two dollars?  How can you beat that. The following evening we had the poutine.  It had the makings of an epic little bite of food but unfortunately the french fries in the dish were stale (boo).  The rib meat, the cheese and the sauce were very yummy, if the fries were fresh it would be perfection.  We did order room service for breakfast which was rather good.  My boyfriend loved the oatmeal and I ordered the continental breakfast which came with really fresh fruit...yum.

I think the best thing about the time we spent there was talking to the bartenders.  Both of the bartenders we met were super nice and helpful.  Which is why it's getting two stars and how can you beat the two dollar appy menu...it's such a great deal but nothing special.

Odd restaurant but their happy hour is amazing. 5-7pm "appys" were delicious for $2.  The short rib poutine was a dinner size portion and very tasty.  The wings were also yum.
