I could just start and end this review by taking about the squash blossoms and the cheese inside them, their lightly battered exterior and fresh corn salsa but it wouldn't be fair to the pizza. But..really...they get five stars all on their own. Trust me on this.
Ok - the marguerita pizza was pretty freaking amazing too. The crust was baked to the perfect thinness and just enough cheese but not too much that you get filled up. We were here last Monday and it was packed. Wow - Monday...that is cool. Luckily we had reservations but our waiter did say that they leave half the tables open for walk-ins.  Note to self - in case I forget to make reservations next time.
Service is excellent..no complaints. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and had his favorites on the menu which he shared.
We also had dessert - the ricotta stuffed donuts which honestly - i could have passed on. Just way too much sugar for me. I should have stopped at the pizza.
    Return visit? Absolutely!

The bf and I stopped in at Zero Zero before our MoMa date. It was a Saturday afternoon and we had zero (heh heh) problems getting seated without a reservation.

Who knew they offered a separate brunch menu!?? Not only can you get pizza but also biscuits with jam!! I was actually really tempted to order the biscuits because I kept hearing the kitchen people say that it was selling out! Snap, maybe next time.

We split the arancini and Castro pizza. The arancini were creamy and gooey inside and the outside was perfectly crispy. Yum! The balsamic sauce that accompanied them went so perfectly!  The Castro pizza was really tasty too - I really like their tomato sauce!

If I'm ever back for brunch I definitely want to try the brunch pizza.

This place is the real deal. Fantastic ambience, pinnochio-themed paintings all throughout the second floor, dark and romantic, and great food. I truly enjoyed just thriving in the environment and looking around. Zero Zero almost gives this disney feel where you feel happy just because you're there. Dreams come true?

And for the food. The lombard is fantastic. Artichoke and white sauce pizza. We also got the seasonal which was a sausage sweet corn pizza which i thought was riquisimo! We also got the castro which was quite normal w/ the pizza sauce, pepperoni, and some other goodies. I did not really like the crust which seemed burnt in areas and did not have any flavor. Round table does it well where the crust is still kinda garlicky. We also ended the night with some toffee pudding and ice cream with assorted flavors and addons such as chocolate bacon bark, olive oil and sea salt, sprinkles, etc. I suggest a vanilla ice cream with caramel and olive oil/sea salt combo. It is pricy for just ice cream...but nonetheless you're already paying a decent amount of money for the meal..minus well top it off with the dessert. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere despite a-ok pizza crust and expensive ice cream. ooo..and the meatballs....best thing on the menu for a starter! your welcomes!

Amazing food.  Not your typical restaurant.  Had the new peach soda, avocado bruschetta, arugula salad, margherita pizza, chocolate cake/chocolate and vanilla swirl ice cream w/ vanilla cherries.  Every bite from start to finish was an explosion of flavor!  I would definitely come back!!

    Service: good
    Food: amazing!
Ambiance: great for an after work dinner or catchup with a friend

Went for Easter Sunday brunch. Half my party was super late. It was Easter Sunday and thankfully our waitress kept the kitchen open for brunch until the very last minute so we could have the brunch menu. Otherwise it was pizza a salad. I enjoyed my sandwich (chicken thigh sandwich) but the slaw was too sour so it overpowered everything else.  Everyone who got french toast was happy. Those of us that got sandwiches felt like the meal was overpriced.

Our waitress was awesome like I said. Really patient. She even explained what an extra tax on our bill was for (employee health care, which we gladly supported).

The decor is cool. I just feel the food didn't quite live up to the price.

Started off okay with the usual greeting/salutations upon entering, decided to just order to-go rather than dine-in.

Ordered the seasonal pizza which came with white sauce, pieces of some kind of ham and greens as well as an order of their Castro pizza.

Castro was the clear favorite between the two, but sorry to say I wasn't blown away by the meal in general and it was unanimously agreed CPK would have been preferred... heresy?  Oh well.

The lackluster-ness of the whole experience was tipped off after the employee who was taking the order and payment returned a couple of pennies my friend used to pay for the meal with, explaining as she handed the pennies back, "Yea, we don't do pennies here."

Umm last time I checked pennies were still considered money... if you collect 5 of them you can make a nickel, collect 10 you get what's equal to a dime, 25 is the same as having a quarter, 50 can get you one of those silver half dollars they give out in Vegas and 100 pennies are equal to one whole DOLLAR!  So in all essence of Stephanie Tanner of Full House, ExCuUuUuUuSe me!~

I'll take my business and my pennies elsewhere, most likely Golden Boy where you won't get any pretentious pish-poshness.

Like everything good in San Francisco, you must wait in line for a ridiculously long time to get your turn here.  I don't think it was quite worth the 90 minutes we camped out for a table but it was damn good.

I honestly think I liked our appetizers and dessert better than the pizza itself.  The avocado bruschetta was amazing, the field greens were excellent and the dessert was so much fun (you get to create your own using a checklist and a golf pencil).

Best thing we had by far: Ricotta donuts with caramel sauce as a topping.  Insanely yummy and not even that pricey (by comparison).

Not only was it a Mothers' Day brunch, but also my 30th birthday weekend - yes, it was a 4-day event ;) Zero Zero was an all-around excellent experience.

At (awesome)Diana's recommendation, we ordered entrees to share after starting with a light and fresh salad that allowed the peppery goodness of arugula to shine.

Pizza - Margherita and the Castro. Both were fresh out of the oven and had the perfect crust (with little bits of char here and there). Very solid showing for both.

Chicken and Waffles - Crispy (and light) waffles, crunchy fried chicken, smoked bacon, lightly sweet syrup...Great balance of salty and sweet that you want out of this dish. AND, they used dark meat very successfully.

Deep Fried French Toast - crispy on the outside, creamy custard-like instead. It melts in your mouth...did I mention the devilishly good whipped cream? Amazing that it's zero calories and fat free! ;)

I also heard that the horseradish in the bloodies was amazing. I stuck to the perfectly mixed mimosas. Oh, and the dessert...Ice cream, sticky toffee pudding with an olive oil and sea salt topping. STOP IT.  STOP.

From the sweet, real, attentive server (Diana, oh Diana, you are amazing) to the delicious food, Zero Zero made for a fantastic Mothers' Day brunch and the cherry on top of my 30th birthday sundae. Honestly one of the best experiences at an SF restaurant that I have had in a while. Thank You!

Weekend late lunch, not so busy.

Group of us ordered three pizzas (~$16ea). Margherita Extra, Lombard (artichoke, bacon, garlic), Fillmore (mushroom)

A pizza order is good for ~1.5 persons.

Thin crust, not greasy, tasty. Wish the flavor stood out more.

Good pizza place, but you didn't "wow" me.

    Street metered parking. ~$3.50/hr

Took my boyfriend here on a Wednesday night. We encountered a fairly-large, younger/trendy crowd. This place is ideal for a mid-week dinner date. Its dim-lit, romantic ambience sets the tone for a killer, modern-Italian menu. Try the pizzas! The thin-crust delights are soft, slightly chewy and lightly charred on the outside. Also, if you're in the mood for unique desserts, this gem offers a build-it-yourself ice cream sundae menu that's to die for. If you don't want ice cream, you can adorn doughnut holes with all of your favorite accessories, instead! I recommend the bing cherries and caramel! Mmmmm

I will, without a doubt, be recommending this place to my friends!

    WOW.

Got to come back here with more people! lol Came here with my boyfriend and was limited to ordering a salad and a pizza, when I wanted almost everything on the menu.

Romaine Cesar Salad was the best cesar salad I've ever had because they actually make their own dressing fresh. With real Parmesan cheese. SUPER DUPER CRUNCHY homemade CROUTONS!

Fillmore pizza was reallyyyy good! Had a lot of meaty mushrooms so it doesn't feel so vegetarian. Had good crust, I would compare it to indian Naan.

MAKE RESERVATIONS! I went on a tuesday night and luckily we went early enough but it got packed quick!

Our server was SUPER nice, noticed my giants jacket and asked if we were going to the game and made sure we would get out on time.

Decor is very neat. They have a bar on the main level and another one on the upper level.

Prices are okay, I wouldn't say cheap but the overall value is pretty good here.

One thing about the location, there isn't much to do around that area at night.

ZOMG, LOVE. Picco, its sister resto in Marin, is one of my favorite places in the Bay Area, so it should be no surprise that I love ZZ as well -- but what is surprising are the complex flavors that a "simple" pizza place delivers.

We started with the crudo sampler -- it was a tuna w/ avo and a halibut w/ radish and jalapeno -- the tuna was slightly fishy for me, but the halibut was light and wondrous -- we then hit up the warm olives and the shroom bruschetta. The olives were tender, and the bruschetta, which I was not expecting to love, was an unctuous gem. I'll take 10 more orders, k thx bye. Oh, the arugula salad w/ strawberries was fruity and perfect, and the mozz + spring veg wasn't a bad bite either -- different than I expected, but not bad, just...different? Sorry, not helpful, I know.

For pizzas, we hit up the Fillmore and the Stockton -- both of which are veg -- the Fillmore (Hen of the Woods mushrooms, leeks, mozz, parm, pecorino, fontina, garlic, thyme) was fine -- the crisp, charred crust was the best part -- the shrooms were lost in a sea of cheese (which was perfectly melted, PS) -- the Stockton was the real winner -- with asparagus, caramelized onion, basil, crescenza, mozzarella, chili flake -- the asparagus added a wonderful layer of intrigue and the onions were perfect.

The DIY sundaes for dessert are worth the trip to ZZ alone. We went for lava cake w/ vanilla soft serve, olive oil, and sea salt (don't question, just put in your mouth) -- also awesome is the chocolate covered bacon and the sticky toffee pudding. Do yourself a favor and spend 3 hours at the gym pre-ZZ and then order 4 orders of sundaes. You will thank me.

Only complaint this time was that our server, while sweet, wasn't attentive -- a bit spacey -- I asked for bread, which was ignored (I love carbies, okay?), and she seemed to kind of creep in at inopportune times.

Din was abt $65/pp, incl appropriate amnts of wine for all.

Why 4 stars? Because the pizza was good, but the service was outstanding!

      ---   ---   ---

Table for 6 on a Thursday afternoon!  We went with four pie's: Margherita, Fillmore, Castro & the Daily Special (Bacon & Brussel Sprouts)

I enjoyed all of them, and I enjoyed all of them thoroughly.  Our server made a couple of errors, but quickly corrected them and could not have more friendly/helpful.

The best part of the meal was the dessert - that was some kind of epic.  You build your own ice cream concoction and boy howdy, it's a head turner at worst, life changer at best.  My Lord in heaven, you put cows on this Earth for that reason alone.

I believe my custom dessert was:

    Vanilla Ice Cream

    Ricotta Doughnuts Base

    Caramel Topping

Da Vero Olive Oil & Sea Salt********

    Vanilla Poached Bing Cherries

*******Don't you even think about walking past Zero Zero and not getting the Olive Oil & Sea Salt on your ice cream.  If you pass on this, you don't have me to blame for your lifetime of sadness.

This place is incredible!  I've been here twice, and both times have ordered an appetizer, pizza (margarita) and pasta to split with my ball n' chain.  On my most recent visit, I ordered the pasta with shitake mushrooms and fresh peas in truffle butter.  It was insane.  The pizza is also fantastic and made Napoli-style, thin and in a wood-fired oven.

The service is also top-notch, and for a Wednesday, I was able to make a reservation ahead of time and get seated within an hour of making the reservation (on Open Table.)  But beware: this place might ruin you for any other Italian food in the city...

Awesome pizza, awesome atmosphere, awesome service, and awesome location if you're on the way to a Giants game.  Stopped in here for some dinner with a group of 4 before walking over to see the Giants vs. the Brewers.  The Giants lost, but that had no effect on my rating :)

My group shared three pizzas: a margherita, a Fillmore (mushrooms), and a Geary (clams).  It was a little more food than we really needed but it was so good we finished it all anyway.  Margherita was pretty standard but the Fillmore and Geary were very excellent.  Give this place a try for some great pizza!

Came here a while ago and ordered the fried chicken LOVED the fried chicken. Some of the best fried chicken I've had. Still waiting to go back for more! Also I really enjoyed the lamb sausage.

I didn't really enjoy the pastas or pizzas. Some reason I just didn't like the taste of them. It wasn't bad but not spectacular. I think the highlight of my meal here was the appetizers.

For dessert I ordered the vanilla ice cream with olive oil and sea salt. It was my second time having olive oil and sea salt on ice cream. I only ordered it because it sounded cool and wanted to give olive oil and sea salt on ice cream another try. Guess I'm not really a fan of olive oil and sea salt on ice cream.

    the decor is niiiiiiiiiice!

we went for lunch and first thing i noticed was the bars in the lower level and in the upper level.  i bet it goes down after dark!

liked the margherita and the fillmore pizzas but the thing that i really liked the most was these appetizers we got and i forgot what they were called but they were small rice balls and inside of these rice balls were cheesey meatballs.

desert was cool too.  they give you this sheet where you basically build your own dessert and you can choose different components like ice cream flavor, toppings, syrups, etc.

    This place is fantastic!!

I planned my bestie's bachelorette party and this is where we had dinner. They're great with big parties, offering packages so we could pre-order our foods so there wouldn't be any hassle or confusion in the end.

We started out with the Tomato Braised Chickpea Bruschetta (delicious) and the Caesar Salad (yum). As for pizzas, we got the Margherita, the Fillmore and the Castro. All were incredible! Then, best part, we got a "sundae bar" for dessert -- vanilla/chocolate ice cream and fudge/caramel sauce plus donuts and molten chocolate cake. TO DIE FOR.

    Will definitely DEFINITELY be back.

So my friend had Zero Zero on his bucket list for months, and after months about talking about planning to go, we finally got a group to go.  Between 5 of us, we ordered 3 pizzas and a salad.

The Fields Greens salad was amazing!  It seemed like it had a bit of everything (all of my salad favorites) in one dish!

For pizzas, we got: Margherita Extra, Lombard and Fillmore.  The first bite of the Lombard was amazing!  There was this smoky flavor, followed by the garlic and bacon.  Margherita pizzas in general are always good, but the "extra" with the buffalo mozzarella was a great addition!  The Fillmore was also tasty, but not particularly memorable.  I like mushroom pizzas, but I guess I'm not a huge fan of hen of the woods mushrooms on my pizza.  Overall, pizzas were good, but not really my favorite.  The first slice of all were tasty, but the longer you waited after they were served, the chewier the crusts got.  I guess some people like that, but I like my crusts crispy.

I wasn't planning to get dessert 'cuz we were going to have an ice cream excursion later in the afternoon, but 2 of the others ordered the Lavender Panna Cotta and Meyer Lemon Sorbet. The Sous Vide kumquats in the sorbet really made the entire dessert amazing!  I'm not a fan of panna cotta, but the Lavender Panna Cotta was definitely unique and worth trying. Both desserts were surprisingly good!

Although I didn't order it, it was exciting to find High West distillery liquors on the shelf!  I think this is only the 2nd place in the Bay Area that I've found that carries High West.

    Overall: 3.5 stars

I didn't know that most places in SF close a bit earlier than LA, so was surprised at how difficult it was to find good food near our hotel at 10ish pm. My friend found this place and though I wasn't as hungry as he was, I was down for a late-night snack.

I was surprised at how much I liked it there- from the atmosphere to the food. I started off with a Nightfall cocktail, which had blackberries covering most of the vodka taste. Pretty nice and still felt something.

We shared the Pork Belly appetizer with Roman-style dumplings, a poached egg, crispy Chinese broccoli and harissa. I though the pork belly was ok- maybe I wasn't feeling it, but I've had better pork belly. But the Roman-style dumplings tasted like little pieces of Heaven. I told my friend to get everything else and give me an extra dumpling haha. I was told I was genuinely happy. It tasted like these light little polenta cakes to me. Now I'm going to miss it because it's so far away from home.

The Castro pizza came out piping hot! I loved the thin slices sopressata and the mozzarella with hints of basil on the pizza. But my favorite thing was the tomato sauce. It was so sweet and tasted like they had made the sauce with fresh tomatoes earlier in the day. I've had pizza in Italy and all around-- the thin Naples style kind, and tasted lots of sauces and this is one of my favorites by far. It was a nice surprise to find such wonderful sauce here.

All in all, I'd love to come back and try their Fillmore pizza because I love mushrooms. Sadly, we couldn't do half-half on the pizzas and my friend was a typical carnivore (could you tell by what we shared?). Oh well. Time to come back with my best friend next time!

Neapolitan Pizzas, build-your-own-sundae, and great atmosphere :)

I'd been hearing about 00 for a while and it didn't disappoint!
Attentive service, more than you would expect from a pizza place, and you can tell they put load of thought from the details throughout the restaurant.
++ Hooks strategically placed throughout for purses and jackets
+ Great spaces for large groups and intimate meals
    + decor & design

    Food:
++ Fontina  Stuffed Arancini- I could eat these all day! Like balls of fried cheesy risotto
++ Spring salad- super satisfying, flavorful
++ Daily Pizza Special- I didn't catch what was on it... but it was my favorite!
+ Fillmore- 2nd fav. thin, but hardy
+ Geary- Not my fav, but the fav. of my friends
++ BYOS- this dessert it should be shared! Soft serve is thick creamy, and didn't melt quickly. Sticky toffee pudding hit the spot!

    TIPS:
~Add an egg (or two) to your pizza!
~If online/phone reservations are full, they keep space for walk-ins, but the best times are early

    I'll be back :D

Cute place for lunch!  It has taken over where Azie (Lulu's sister restaurant) used to be.

I came here with my best for her birthday lunch.  Due to some delays we had to push our lunch to 1:30.  We weren't the last ones to be seated, but we were close and we were the last to leave.  Our server Maricar (so says my receipt) was wonderful and didn't get all snoty and mad at us for staying late.  She was a very helpful server and made recommendations on wine and then let us have tastes to decide which one we wanted a carafe of.  She was full of smiles and tried not to rush us.  She was fairly prompt with the clearing of dishes and refilling of drinks.

    Lets move onto the food..
Taleggio Stuffed Arancini, Black Garlic Aioli:  These in layman's terms are little risotto balls suffed with melty delicious cheese.  YUM!  I think Barbacco's balls have some competition.  I am definitely getting this again when I come back.

Avocado Bruschetta, Manadori Balsamic, Spicy Coppa:  Crunchy crust, soft middle, ripe avocado, spicy coppa.. Delish

Lombard Pizza: Baby Artichokes, Bacon, Roasted Garlic, Mozzarella,
Grana Padano, Lemon-Parsley Cream:  I quite enjoyed this thin crust pizza.  I prefer this pizza over Flour + Water.

Arugula, Yerena Farm Strawberries, Torn Basil, Hazelnuts, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Feta:  Eh.  I would skip this salad and try another.  The vinaigrette was tasty.  The strawberries were not very good though (granted they are out of season right now) and the feta had a strong goat cheese like flavor- I love feta but I hate goat cheese.

The dessert menu was cute.  It listed the soft serves and various toppings that you can check off.  The soft serve was good.  It's kind of hard to go wrong with vanilla and chocolate soft serve though.  The olive oil and sea salt were okay.  They definitely paired better with the vanilla.  I would skip it next time thought.  But the candied Cocoa nibs.. DAMN!!!  I love cocoa nibs already and these candied ones which had a smokey flavor since they were cooked paired well with the ice cream.

500 reviews for me. Some effort this year!!!! How appropriate. 5 star for zero zero = 500.

This place seems real popular and you need to reserve each night it seems. I do agree that it's more hype than amazing food. Having said that, we had a great experience here. When you walk in, you notice it's very dark and loud inside which seems appropriate for these type of places. We were seated upstairs and a lot of the restaurant has a very bar type feel with a few tables dotted around.

We had the chickpea bruschetta and pork belly with poached egg and potato which was deconstructed so you had to mix the stuff together yourself. Both of those antipasti's were good. Very much a fancy restaurant style here.

Onto the pizza's, we ordered 3, the Lombard, the Castro and the special for the day which was 3 blends of cheese. They were all very different and each had its own particular taste. The only slight gripe is that when you try and take a slice from the plate, the toppings slide right off the Castro which is a little odd but taste wise I didn't have any complaints at all.

Overall, for the type of food this place serves, it's on the pricey side and probably on the upper limit for this type of fayre. I'd come back again but it would require persuading the wife. If you're a pizza fan then it's worth a gander.

I went here for dinner on a Monday night and it was surprisingly crowded. We were a group of three and we ordered two pies - the Margherita and the Seasonal, the ricotta and English pea bruschetta and the chicken ties. OMG - delicious.

Ricotta and English pea bruschetta was very good and light. I would argue it needed a little salt but overall I was happy.

Next, came the chicken thighs. So amazing in all it's fried glory. Most likely the best fried chicken I've ever had, it was that good. And I love the spicy yogurt sauce it came with.

Our pizzas were great. The seasonal had an arugula pesto, with three cheeses and mushrooms. Though the star was the Margherita pizza. I finally found good pizza!! Crust was perfectly crisp but chewy and the bottom was nicely burned. You could really tell the high quality of the cheese and tomato sauce. It was magnificent.

Lastly, we made our own customized sundae and got vanilla soft serve with fudge and macaroons. The soft serve is so creamy and to-die-for.

I can't wait to go back!

Great prices, excellent food, great drinks and wine options.  Service is hit or miss.  Love the dark wood and dim lighting.  I would compare this to Flour and Water, except with slightly larger portions, easier on the wallet, and wine is served FOR you (not digging the trend of self service models at high end restaurants).

I've been here about 4 times now and each time I've walked away raving about the pizza, pasta, and of course, the ice cream.

Always a decent meal, I enjoyed my latest dinner there. The pizza is thin and crispy, and there are a few surprises on the menu each time I visit. I also thoroughly enjoyed the dessert this time around.

    PROS
    - Cocktails are tasty and creative, although they can be a little sweet
    - Pizzas are solid
    - Wines are served by the carafe from a keg, and they aren't bad!

    CONS
    - Valet parking is $12
    - Can get crowded, especially during a show - reservations are a must

    TIPS
    - The pork belly antipasto is delicious and great for sharing between 3 people

3 stars for the pizza, but 4 for the dessert! Love love love the build-your-own ice cream and one is more than enough to share (we split one between 3 people and still didn't finish it). I HIGHLY recommend the candied coffee nibs, caramel, and sea salt (no oil) as toppings over vanilla or vanilla/choc ice cream and warm chocolate cake. Seriously, heaven in each bite. I would go back just for dessert!

I like to keep it traditional when I try pizza in a new spot so I went for the "Margherita Extra" which was unreal in a good way. I struggled to finish it, actually I didn't finish it.

It had tomato sauce, basil, annabella (named after me) buffalo mozzarella, parmesan,
de Padova extra virgin (not named after me) olive oil.

A delicious ginger beer served by a very hospitable bartender made the whole experience very satisfying. To top it off I had a coffee and sorbet. Wonderful, simply wonderful.

It's great when you eat out and feel refreshed from your food instead of groggy.

The cassarcia pasta with prosciutto and arugula was amazing!!!! The Fillmore pizza was pretty good but could have used more sauce or something. I liked the atmosphere- very lively and trendy. I would go back for the pasta definitely!

Great pizza, holds own against any pizza from anywhere.  That means you New York guy and Chicago transplant.

    Service was outstanding.

Decent Pizza, have had much better.

We went to this place on a Saturday evening, very excited that we don't have to wait AND finally get to check out the famous Zero Zero.
This place might have been just too hyped-up for me, but I thought the pizza was just ok. However I did like the crust a lot .

We ordered the Margherita Extra and Lombard, I thought the Margherita's sauce needed some more spices and the Lombard was too heavy and a little plain.
We also got the soft serve and ricotta donuts, pretty good, nothing mind blowing.

I've been to Pauline's pizza many times , and have ordered different pizzas everytime and every time I loved it, Zero Zero however I dont' think is closely as good as Pauline's .

After what could only be described as a "rough night," we woke up and decided we were hungry, it was about 1 in the afternoon.  So we went to Zero Zero because it was close by.  One of the best last minute picks ever!

We were he for the Brunch menu and because it was fairly late it was pretty empty.  We got the Castro Pizza, the Crispy Duck and Soft Polenta, and the Casareccia, Prosciutto, Arugula, Grana Padano (as we were told it was "one of the best pastas i've ever had).

They were all strong selections.  The Casareccia lived up to teh hype.  Cooked perfectly, all the flavors combined for a "pinki" raised sophisticated "dancing on the ceiling" type of party in your mouth!  Probably not the greatest pasta ever, but pretty darn close in my book.  The Crispy Duck is everything would expect.  The duck full of flavor, although a bit overcooked.  However, I was surprised at how good the polenta was!   The combination was very good.

As good as the other two dishes were, the Pizza was the star of the show.  At first I was worried that the pizza wouldn't hold up because the middle was a bit soggy.  However, after you get passed that initial bite, you realize taht there is something serisouly RIGHT about the pizza!!!  Toppings were good and went together well, but the crust was amazing!!!  Soft, chewy, crisp, flavorful!!!  I was tempted to say it might be ONE OF THE BEST PIZZAS I'VE EVER HAD!

Zero Zero is not a scoreless draw by any means.  In fact its more of a WIN WIN!  (Food was a tad bit on the salty side, but thats how I like it!)

I had a great time at Zero Zero for dinner. The place was packed by 6:30.

Hard to really find anything that I could complain about. Some thoughts and comments:
-Our meal was crudo, antipasti, antipasti, bruschetta, dessert, so no pasta or pizza this time around, unfortunately. Those are definitely a must-try for next time.
-The food was all very tasty and nicely plated. The halibut crudo was a little overly salty. The arancini and panna cotta were probably my favorite courses and they deserve major kudos; the pork belly and the chickpea bruschetta were passable.
-The service was VERY good. I never had to ask for water or ever felt I needed to find our server for anything. She was really on point and checked up on us at well-timed intervals. She was extremely friendly and professional. Another really nice touch: the plates and utensils were changed out and the table was wiped down after each course.

A tiny annoyance was that my reservation was for 5:30 but we had to wait until 5:45 to be seated because "the kitchen isn't ready." I don't see the correlation between the kitchen not being ready and the wait staff's ability to seat us, but I digress-the rest of the meal more than made up for that minor inconvenience.

    Solid pizza place.

We ordered both the Margherita and the Castro. The Marghuerita was so amazingly tasty (the crust was great, the flavors were tasty - we highly highly recommend it). I'd skip the Castro.

We also ordered the vanilla soft serve with olive oil and sea salt. Unfortunately, olive oil and sea salt with dessert is in these days, and so we've recently tried much better olive oil / sea salt / vanilla soft serve / ice cream concoctions (namely the Milkshake at Radius and the Panna Gelato at Beretta). This dessert, unfortunately, disappointed when compared with those two. Anyway - would skip this as well next time.

However there will be a next time - just for the Margherita!

After a hot tip from the one they call Kat. Myself and my favorite cynical irish gal pal descended upon this joint with hungry bellies and shit to shoot.

Let's keep this one simple eh?

Pizzas were just great. Very simple, but the flavours (check out my exotic U inclusion!) were so fresh, so strong. Perfect. Service was swift and despite having to sit at the bar (book a table? I'm sorry, we're european and far too old country for that kinda thang!), we never felt ignored or forgotten about.

Ambiance was just right. Which is actually a big deal for me having spent most of my time in SF shouting over the music in every (EVERY) shop, coffee shop, bar, hotel (aye, flippin' hotel!) I visited. Do I have über hearing or is America a wee bit deaf? (please post your answers to the Glasgow Talk thread).

OK, so everything so far hit's the mark. Service top notch, pizza (some sort of meaty love fest) perfect, music at normal level... and here comes the cherry.

Desert looked and felt like a step too far, despite the menu offering some stupidly enticing options. My eyes however were drawn to this: Vanilla ice cream, drizzled with olive oil and sea salt. Despite it sounding like a misprint, I was assured by the server that this was a must try. I tried. I must of liked it as I've been raving about it ever since.

If I was a local, I'd eat here regularly. It's simple, easy, reasonably priced and ticks so many other boxes.... plus they have this awesome dessert... it's vanilla ice crea... yeah.

This review is for lounge only:

I have been wondering about this place for YEARS and I finally got the chance to come here with some friends. We met up with a group that was already eating there (we had eaten previously). It was the day that it POURED rain and the hostess offered to take our umbrellas! How thoughtful. We were in the loft area and could see and hear mother nature's rainy day. I had the Blood and Sand then switched to the Kentucky Buck. Both were delicious! If you're trying to get into whiskey and only like fruity drinks have a Kentucky Buck. Oh and they're VERY SERIOUS about their ice cubes! lol. The Blood and Sand was good also.

I think the best part of the event was when I checked in on Yelp I got free ZeroZero temporary tattoos! hahaha. Kinda lame for a check in offer but fun! I'll have to come back for their pizza, it looked and smelled delicious!

They have 2 bars, one upstairs and one downstairs. Even on a Thursday night, you'll have to make reservations because this place is packed at 7pm. Hostess was nice as I called in ahead to mention that I'll be about 5 minutes late (They can hold your table for up to 15 minutes if you call in advance)

Had the Diablito, which left a nice spicy aftertaste. Tried the ginger beer and the Hefeweizen, solid and tasty with the Margherita pizza. The slow-cooked pork belly is amazing with the Roman-style dumplings and poached egg. Also had the skillet fried chicken thighs. Great flavor with the yogurt and chili sauce! Lastly, the panna cotta desert was amazing! Love the citrus-tangy sauce and the crunchy flakes.

My wife and I went there before the Giants game, on a reccommendation from our son.  We started with the arancini, split a salad with house made mozzarella and pistacios, spaghettini with pancetta and finally the Castro pizza. Everything was great. We wanted to try the soft serve, but needed to get to the Giants game. Based on the outcome of the Giants game, we should have stayed for the desert. We don't get into the city often, but we will certainly be back.

We came here because of their reputation making pizzas.   If I were to factor in ambiance, the fast service, and reasonable drinks, then I could up the rating.  But we were hungry and came for food.  Our pizza was very OK at best.  The sauce was good, the toppings were well selected, but everything else was substandard, including the crust and consistency.  (I just made homemade pizza two weeks ago that was significantly better)  Don't go here for the pizza (and yes I've been to Italy and had excellent Neapolitan style pizzas).  DO go here for the dessert, and friendly people in a very hip and loud spot.
