I am probably slightly overrating this, but woohoo!  Finally had a decent dining experience here in Cedar Rapids.  This is what hubby and I have been searching for...a non-chain restaurant serving GOOD food, reasonable prices, and friendly service.
We went on a Saturday evening and it was busy, but we just sided up to the bar, got some great beers, and leaned against the bar chatting until our buzzer sounded.  The ambiance is awesome and I love the decor.  The giant props were very cool.  Our server was super friendly and helpful with suggestions on what to order.  At our table we had two steak salads (steak cooked perfectly), a Cuban with parmesan fries (dipping sauce was to die for), onion soup (best I had ever had dining out), and chicken marsala with vegetables.  Everything tasted fresh and was wonderfully tasty.  I was also impressed with the wines available and enjoyed my glass of white immensely.
If there was just one thing I would want, it would be that they would have one or two appetizers with a kick.  Something tangy or spicy would really go well with their beers on tap.

Wow. A total turnaround from our first visit to Zeppelin's, which was about a year or so ago. We arrived shortly after 5 and snagged one of the last tables. Happy hour extends to the dining room area and not just the bar (which was packed, btw) which of course, is great. We ordered a beer(s) and wine(s) and started looking over the menu. There were a lot of appetizers that sounded very tasty, and we decided to start with some Zeppelin Bites: homemade corned beef blended with cream cheese, breaded and fried, served with house sauce. The best way to describe the house sauce is horseradish, mayo, stone ground mustard...probably other stuff but those are the flavors I thought I could pick out. These little buggers were GOOD.
For the entrees we ordered Fish & Chips (him) and the Napa Valley Spinach Salad (me): spinach tossed with roasted cashews, red onion, smoked bacon, craisins, apples, hard boiled egg and Maytag bleu cheese crumbles. This salad comes with a maple vinaigrette for the dressing, and I highly recommend you do not deviate from that. I don't even like the taste of maple too much, and I thought this dressing was perfect for the salad. Very well done. I ate every bite and the best part was that they didn't skimp on the toppings. Isn't it frustrating when you get this big salad, but run out of the special toppings after a few bites? This salad was one of the best I've had.
We shared the Key Lime Cheesecake for dessert. Oh man. This was yummy. Tart, but not TOO tart, dense, but not TOO dense. I thought it was really great.
And to top it all off, our server was great. And they have waiter's assistants to help with pre-bussing, a very smart idea!!! Great atmosphere.
The best part: this is an independently owned restaurant!!
    We'll be back. Often.

In Cedar Rapids for business and it was decided that the group would go down to Zeppelin's for dinner.  We got there early enough to find out it was 2 for 1 happy hour.  YEAH!  Lots of choices for drinks.

As a large group, we ordered a bunch of appetizers.  Decent but not over the top.  I got a steak salad for dinner which was done to my satisfaction.

Lots of activity in this restaurant.  Lots of TV's to keep up on the action but not too loud.  Our group was actually able to hold onto the conversation without screaming.

This is my second trip to Zeppelin's and expect to go back the next time I'm in town.

Really good place to eat. The inside is decorated appropriately to the name and very pleasing. The house smoked onion ranch is really good so I get that with a salad every time. The prices are good for the portions and quality of food I was served and they have good happy hour (4-6) drink specials. The food came out fast, and the service was fast and friendly while I was there on their dinner rush.

Something for everyone.  Active, big bar with more taps than you can count.  Good happy hour offerings.  Excellent food, some healthy some not, at moderate prices.  It's so popular after work and weekend evenings that you will have to search a bit for a parking spot.  Not a high-end menu, but what it serves is 5 star.

Eh, I'm not impressed.  I want to be, I really do, but I'm not.

I really like the look of Zeppelin's, I think it has some serious potential, but it's being squandered.  The food makes me sad.  It not only didn't taste good, but it actually hurt my feelings by sounding good, and then being so not good.  What a tease.

The service was pretty bad too.  If I have my menu open, I'm pointing to it, and my mouth is moving, I probably want to order, please don't just walking away from me.  It's annoying.

The thing is it's an aesthetically pleasing place, and I'd like to be able to hang out and enjoy a meal or some drinks there.  But, alas, I cannot.  I will not.

My parents love this place and now I see why: great atmosphere, rocking cole slaw, and a lengthy craft beer selection from local and regional brewers. Our salads and sandwiches were tasty and obviously assembled with care and skill. The staff was competent, attentive without being intrusive, and my water glass never emptied. The atmosphere was warm with dark colors and an arrangement that allows privacy for those who want it.

    Would I return?  Most happily.

I don't normally review a restaurant after a single visit, but it seems I might not find myself in Cedar Rapids again for a while. So, to help those plugging "cocktail" into Yelp find this hidden gem...

How is it that the cocktail menu has not been mentioned? I suspect it's because most people don't know about it -- people asked the bartender about the things I was drinking. A shame, as this place has a wide assortment of unusual cocktails created by the bar staff themselves.

As a lover of good cocktails, I'd asked around town for places with good cocktails (and was referred to Zin's, R.G. Books, and Cibo -- all of which did not disappoint). However, when it comes to innovative cocktails in Cedar Rapids, Zeppelin's takes the cake.

I had a Bee Smoker (honey and smoky scotch, yum) and an Euphoria (best application of Bakon Vodka I've seen yet -- with a Guinness floater), and would have loved to explore the cocktail menu further on future visits. It does look like it's changed slightly since I visited per the website, but there are still a number of intriguing options.

The bartender was very friendly, chatting with me about my options and even offering to share recipes.

Food-wise, I ordered steak medallions to eat as I sat at the bar. It was very good for the price, but not the best filet ever.

I did hear the place was often quite busy -- now if more people would explore beyond Cosmopolitans and Martinis that are just sugar-vodka. The cocktail artistry here would be considered excellent in much larger cities -- so Cedar Rapids, take note!

I hate to blame a place for being overly busy, because it's a sign of success, but if you're not at Zeppelins early - you're going to wait for a spot.  The 2 for 1 specials are great and the wait staff is almost always extremely good.  The cheese wontons are excellent and the overall vibe of the bar is professional and laid back at the same time.

Stopped in for meet friends for drinks on a Friday night.  The parking area in this strip mall is way too insufficient. Arrived at 4:35 and every seat at the bar and table was occupied and a number of people just standing with their drinks.  They do 2 for 1 until 6:00 and really get a crowd.  A very nice place for a non-chain.  The service was decent for as busy as they were. We had the chicken nachos as recommended by someone we just met there.  A very good choice, it had a somewhat smokey flavor and was baked just right. My only issue was the noise level - you had to almost shout to be heard from more than 4 feet.

Food: A high food score does not always indicate it is a place for foodies. It is weighted based upon the establishment - thus bar food can receive a high score
Price: Price is graded based upon what I believe is fair value for the food you are receiving. A high score does not necessarily indicate the establishment is cheap.

I wouldn't say anything at Zeppelin's was mind blowing, but I was definitely satisfied with my experience there.

My family went here for my brother's birthday. It was a Saturday night and pretty busy. Still, we only had about a five minute wait before being seated in a comfortable booth. The ambiance is really nice; the furnishings, lighting, colors and layout all seem to be in concert with each other.

Our server (I think his name was Daniel) was polite, friendly, and efficient.

My brother and I shared the garlic Parmesan fries for an appetizer, and I had the chicken spendini for an entree. Neither was anything extremely special, but both were pulled of seamlessly and were really tasty. I WILL say I was impressed by how tender the chicken in my chicken spendini was. The flavor profile wasn't anything to really take notice of, but the tenderness of the chicken made the dish. The side vegetables were also cooked really well - I actually liked those more than my main dish!

I'd never been to Beckett's, but I have to say it's probably unfair to draw comparisons here. They sound like pretty different places. I would happily return to Zeppelin's!

This place literally has it all.Great  atmosphere, top notch wine list, funky cocktails, amazing food and the friendliest most experienced staff in Cedar Rapids.

The last time I dined here,it was on a Friday Night at about 5pm,the parking lot was incredibly full and I almost turned my car around but found a spot and was a bit shocked to find that while the bar area was standing room only,I had no problems get a table on the dining room side!

I've only eaten at Zeppelin's a handful of times but somehow my waitress recognized my face and greeted me warmly as if I was regular!!On her suggestion I decided to give the Prime Rib a shot, she told me it was more then likely going to be the best Prime Rib I had ever eaten and boy was she right!! Topped with garlic, herbs and butter, cooked just perfectly,it literally melted in my mouth!!

I also,a little squeemishly went with her wine suggestion of the Milbrandt Merlot. Merlots are not usually my first choice as far as red wines go,but she seemed to really know what she was talking about and assured me that this wine would change the way I looked at Merlot.I love that the staff here is educated on wines, there is nothing worse then going out to spend some money on dinner at a nice place and asking a server a wine question and getting that deer in the headlights look!! I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the merlot, and actually wrote down the name of it so i can try to find it in the store.

I have nothing bad to say about Zeppelin's,its quickly become my favorite place to eat in town!

The food is excellent, ambiance appealing, and service very personable.  The Maytag Mushroom Burger is perfect for any beef and mushroom lover, the Cuban is great, and try the Sullivan.  The one issue I had was that I ordered the Key Lime Cheesecake (best dessert) to go, but the waitress brought me the bread pudding.  She was apologetic and fixed the mistake so I didn't feel the need to take off a full star.  Zeppelin's is a keeper.

Formally Becketts (more of an irish themed menu/pub), this place has been remodeled all together and looks realxed and inviting. Nestled back in a strip-mall, you would think different, but upon entering the foyer and the double big doors changes everything. Rich warm colors and dark woods, nice usage of large space, a huge long oval bar.

Menu has a wide array of choices and everything I saw walk by our table  looked well presented and just another thing I wanted a taste of.

We went there for lunch so I could get my hands on a cuban sandwich (since they are so hard to find in CR) and a bloody mary (since I always have to try one where ever I go new). The cuban came on a pretzel bread/bun (sweet, soft, nice) and had more of the "gourmet" twist to the cuban. It was good, but I guess I am just used to that more "authentic" street cuban panini style I crave in FL and the Keys. The fries were good, the cole slaw was good (not all mayo) and the Book Master (something like that it was callled--a thick sliced steak sandwich with an awesome sauce) was very good as well. The bloody mary's were average, good, but not a 'wow factor'.

Would I go here again, absolutely. There are many more things that caught my eye on the menu I had to try. And the burgers looked real good too. Plus it would be a great place to come in and grab an appetizer and some drinks and hang around the bar area.

This is the first time I have been to Zeppelin's. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The decor is very modern and has a high class look. Dim lighting and a comfortable feel adds to the appeal. We ordered the Zeppelin bites for an appetizer, really good. I had the Ruben for dinner. This was better than any other Ruben I have had. The corned beef wasn't sliced thin but large chunks. Prices for burgers/sandwiches are around $9-10. Entrees were anywhere from $13-20.  The Zeppelin Irish Ale was pretty good, a little high in price at $4.50/pint.  Our waiter was nice and attentive. Overall a good first experience. I will defiantly go back to try a full dinner entree.

I've been here several times.  Some with a large group and also as a small couple or just a few people.

The service is always prompt and courteous.  Though it does not house the same menu items as the former Beckett's it does have some great items that you'll find at The Irish Democrat (same owners), but with a twist.  The selection of food is vast and the price points are great.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a semi-adventurous eater who knows what they like.

I was in town for business with a large group. We went to Zeppelin's after work for happy hour and dinner. We were seated right away at a large table and were just under the wire for 2 for 1 drinks at happy hour. The restaurant and bar were both very crowded, but I can't complain about the speed of service. Food was plentiful and very tasty. I would certainly return to this restaurant if ever in Cedar Rapids again.
