My good friend told me about Zennkoi Salon, saying that this was a great place to come for inexpensive hair products, in particular brushes. So I came here to purchase a round brush so I could start blow-drying my newly dyed hair. The sales assistant was very friendly and helped me choose a brush that would actually improve the quality of my hair as I used it and for only $16 I bought a large round brush with 100% boar hair. I'm not sure if a brush is going to improve my hair quality, but I'll give it a try.

I used to go to Zennkai Salon in Metrotown because there was a great hair stylist there who was awesome. I had my hair dyed many times at Zennkai at Metro before so one day I decided to hop into Zennkai on Granville just to get a quick bangs trimming and I was NOT expecting to pay $60 just to have my bangs trimmed! I was really disappointed while other places only charge $5 for bang trimming.
So not worth it..... it didn't even turn out that nice either. I could've saved that money and just cut my own bangs.. it wouldn't have even made a difference anyway. -

This is *not* for the salon part of the shop, because I have not used their services...but when I went around 7 on a weekday, there was only one woman trying to take care of the whole store. I asked for her opinion about something and she didn't really know what she was talking about...I told her I was using this product and she said it wasn't going to work for my thick, curly, long hair...even though it was holding up pretty well and I was just looking for something better. They do carry plenty of brands, and have okay prices.

This is for their West 4th location.
A few days ago, I stopped by to pick up some product. There was no one in the store except for the cashier and two shoppers. I'm assuming they knew each other since they were chatting profusely and not about hair products. There was no music playing so all you could hear is them talk. I walked around the store for awhile looking at different brands. I had a few questions, but no one (as in the only person working) offered help or even say "Hi, if you need help just let me know". So I walk around the whole store and decided to pick up what I normally use.
I stood behind the two people who continued to talk to the cashier about non-related topics... talking about Australia, I think. I stood there for awhile just waiting. I stood, and then stood some more. I stood there for 5 quiet minutes listening to them talk about... stuff... thinking, am I ever going to get served? Finally, the cashier says "come here and I'll help you on this side" and put the two other people's things to the side. So they weren't paying... or anything? Interesting. While I was paying, I was obviously annoyed. I had a few questions but didn't think I'd get a valuable response anyway, considering the circumstances. And the two other people joke about putting their items on my bill. I wasn't in a pleasant mood so I just smiled and said nothing. While the cashier started ringing in my things, she continued to talk to the other two people. Finally, I was done and paid and was waiting for the bag to be handed to me instead she just stuck out the containers of hairspray and said here you go.
Not a pleasant salon, but I guess that's what you get for getting a "discount" on brand name products (I really like the Pureology brand). It was around noon or 1 PM and the salon was dead. The lights were all dimmed in the back so I'm guessing they have no salon business. I'm not surprised if this is how customers are treated.
