There is no doubt about it that this is my favourite Chinese food restaurant. The food is amazing and it's defiantly a bang for your buck! Service is excellent except for one person who gets you order and then you have to wait forever for your food and forever for you bill and then forever to pay for it! One of the waiters never lets you glass go half empty, it awesome! When you go, you'll know who I'm talking about!!

I work in a place where sometimes we like to order in (delivery) , so by the persuasion of my co-worker we opted for Zen.
Calling in to place our order was an ordeal that's for sure. She wanted Beef and Broccoli and I wanted Pineapple Chicken, we were to share an order of house rice. We wanted the bill split equally, but this proved to be a feat to the employee on the phone, OK fine we'll split it ourselves.
Now I'm unsure if I've become accustomed to other place's Pineapple Chicken but what I received was not what I expected. I do not order chicken balls because they are too large and battery, but that's what I got (with the sauce on the side-which is fine). What I wanted was the smaller chicken pieces and this is what I always received from other places. Maybe I'm in the wrong?
The rice was OK, but not filled with the special "house" ingredients that we paid extra for. The egg roll was pasty.
I may try again, but will not order my favorite dishes - Pineapple, Orange or Lemon Chicken :( -

The best thing about this place is the free delivery.
It will be the 1st and last time I eat from here. Chicken chow mien is flavorless. Chicken fried rice is too( at least there wasn't peas in it). Egg rolls are filled with some blended meaty paste. Garlic ribs were alright...but nothing to write home about. Serving sieve for a 2 person meal was blah. Not saying that everything here is bland tasteless crap....maybe it is...maybe it isnt...ill never find out. -

Zen's pretty decent - it's my go-to place for Chinese takeaway, and I've never been disappointed. I don't go often to eat in but any time I have the service is reasonably good (I find one of the servers who I always seem to get a little ... well ... obnoxious is unfairly strong so I won't say that), and the food as good. Never have I felt rushed, nor have I had to wait when in a rush to leave.
Oh - they make what I think is my favourite hot and sour soup n Halifax. -

Went on a recent alcohol-fueled, late night Zen run. We ordered meals for six people and they kept all the orders straight. They told us 15 minutes and it was another 10 after we got there to get our food, but the hostess working was friendly and chatted with us. I was super pumped to get home and eat, but about 2 chicken balls in, my stomach told me to stop immediately. I have food sensitivies so its me more than the food! The spring rolls had shrimp and pork in them which made me have a panic attack, I don't eat seafood and have never in my life had a spring roll with shrimp bits in it. I was grateful that after one bite I handed it off to my manfriend to finish.
If you are looking for yummy, canadian-chinese, shrimp-full food then this is a good place to start. -

My fiancé and I went here tonight and it was so good! Hot, fresh, delicious and great service. The only thing I didn't like was the selection of music - dance music just doesn't add to the atmosphere.

Coming across Zen's from a friend of mine telling me I must try the noodles. So off we go. Decor is typical of a Chinese restaurant but I really don't get the whole fish tank thing in front kind of freaks me out.
Anyway great lunch time specials combo plates and get portion size between $7 - $10 which is great for the amount. Normally I end up taking some home as I can not consume that amount of food, I think they are the largest chicken balls in town.
If you have read my reviews before you know I have an addiction to spicy food so I had to try them. Singapore fired vermicelli noodles extra extra spicy no MSG no shrimp. Well they were not to bad actually to be could have used a bit more spice to them but they were tasty and I would go again. -

It's alright to eat in, but you order out and your food is super soggy... but that's how deep fried anything goes I guess.
I like it here. Eating in is kind of tacky, but whatever.. you'll get past that part. The Chicken Gai Ding and Chicken Sou Gai is yummy, the chicken balls (meh), the eggrolls are really good as well
Don't order water...(unless from a bottle) I swear they take it from the fish tank in the front... it's gross!
EDIT: I won't be going here anymore it seems....

I always feel really gross/sick after I eat here, so it's been awhile. -

We have eaten here numerous times and have the takeout a lot. Our standing order of Singapore Noodles (extra spicy, no shrimp), the egg rolls have a hint of curry, they are good. Their rice is excellent, chicken balls, great atmosphere, always busy, nice staff.
