Review from Nikki K.
Zefferelli's is a wonderful Italian restaurant right on Robson street. The food is reasonably priced and the service is wonderful. The portion size is also good. The food tastes fresh and smells wonderful. They also have a great decor with a wine wall.
Just remember it is on the 2nd floor so you may walk past the joint initially.
When we went we had the Tomato & Bocconcini Salad and the Penne & Salicce pasta. Both were excellent! -

I found the decor just right tastefully done. My favorite is the wall of wine.
I did not personally have the salad bar
But what I saw of it, it had a wide variety of choices from fresh muscles to marinated mushrooms, I had the spaghetti carbonara Wow! My partner had the linguine with crab looked great. The service was excellent and I found the prices to be fair for what you get. Great food, great service, Good prices, great decor
All in all a great experience. I will definitely be returning I highly recommend this place -

I came here for new year's eve dinner with a huge group and Zefferelli's was very accommodating and a great choice. Everyone had an awesome experience and thoroughly enjoyed sampling everyone else's food. By the end of the night almost everyone's plates were clean!
I love that this place is an alternative for restaurants like Cactus Club, Earls, etc. as it has great quality Italian fare at a convenient location on Robson. You have to walk up some stairs to get to the restaurant as it's right on top of Cactus Club. The interior's really nice with dimmed lights, a bar, and a nice view of Robson by the windows. This would be a nice date place in my opinion.
I ordered the Spaghetti e Polpete which is described on the menu as veal and ricotta meatballs braised with tomato and red wine. It was absolutely delicious! The meatballs were big, creamy, tender, and very tasty. Every bite melted in my mouth! Both the veal and ricotta were discernible yet neither was overpowering. Four different people sampled some of my meatballs and they all said that the meatballs were the best they ever had. They were definitely the best meatballs I've ever tasted. The spaghetti was cooked to perfection and the sauce was very good as well.
My boyfriend ordered the Osso Buco which is described as braised veal shank with risotto bianco. I tried some of his dish and the veal was extremely tender that it pulled apart easily. It also melted in my mouth and was cooked to perfection. My mouth is watering just typing up this review! It was accompanied by a sort of stew with some vegetables in it which topped a bed of risotto that was very flavourful with the perfect texture.
Everything was so good and everyone enjoyed their meals. The waiters were very friendly and professional and came frequently to bring more water to our tables. I highly highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone for any occasion.
Pros: quality of food, friendly service, price points, ambience, location, and pretty much everything
Cons: tricky parking downtown
Verdict: I'll be back, Zefferelli's! I'll be back for sure!!! -

Love this place. Every time I go. The room is warm, cozy and inviting. The service friendly, fast and efficient. Wine selection is impressive and the pasta dishes are so incredibly fresh, flavourful, and filling. This is my 'special celebration' location in the city - or even just when I am craving a rich plate of comfort food. Can't speak for the appies, salad bar, or desserts as i'm always way too full after their generous main course pastas. Hands down my favourite cozy and delicious hideaway in the city.

We really enjoyed the food and service at this place. My husband had a lovely pasta dish with seafood. I had a chicken dish that came with veggies and potates which were excellent.

Review from Dani C.
Came here for dinner with a friend after finding out it would be a half an hour wait at Guu on Thurlow. So while walking on Robson, we came across Zefferelli's and after we saw the menu outside, we decided to try it.
We ordered the bruschetta to share and I ordered the spaghetti carbonnara while my friend ordered the con vongole. The bruschetta was a bit spicy, but overall, I liked it very much. I absolutely love the carbonnara. The pasta was well cooked, there was quite a bit of panchetta, and there was enough cream without making it too much. I was also able to bring the leftover home and have it for lunch the next day.
Overall, the food was good and unless you're really hungry and didn't order an app, there should be some leftovers for you to take home. -

I've been to Zefferelli's twice now, and both times left with with nothing but praise for this Iconic Vancouver restaurant.
The menu is simple with all the traditional Italian fare you would expect, but for those of you that are on diets, or looking for something a bit lighter, your sure to find lots of options. My last visit I ordered the Chicken and Prawn dish, and wasn't disappointed.
The wine list is extensive, you have lots of choice between local favorites and world class winery's, and lots of choice price wise.
As for service, the staff at Zefferelli's is nothing but professional, attentive and knowledgeable. There is a true sense of pride and ownership that comes across in the teams impeccable service.
I highly recommend Zefferelli's for a nice evening out with a few friends, or a quite date where you want to get to know your dinner companion a bit better. The dining room emanates a warm charm that will be sure to create a memorable evening for years to come.
***Be sure to call ahead for reservations, those of you on a date try and get a spot at the window overlooking Robson. -

Having lived in Vancouver for close to a decade, I've walked by Zefferelli's countless times without actually going in. Last week a co-worker and I decided to try it out for lunch and I couldn't be more glad that we did.
Starting with fresh bread and dipping sauce, we quickly received our Caesar salads - made the right way. For our entrées we selected from a number of Zefferelli's signature pasta dishes, opting for a half-order. This turned out to be the smart choice because the hearty portions filled our bellies in no time. I chose the Penne Michaelangelo, smothered in grilled chicken and sundried tomatoes. For dessert we split a delectable tiramisu, layered with fresh cream cheese and a healthy dash of rum.
My only criticism might be the atmosphere. It's a bit "cold" and informal. Zefferelli's might be okay for a casual date but it wouldn't suit something romantic. However, the service was nothing less than outstanding and we even enjoyed the company of the owner for a few minutes of chatter. In a city that's overrun with the latest and greatest dining innovations, it's nice to see vestige of Vancouver's dining legacy still thriving on Robson Street. Zefferelli's is a must! -

Average and fine in just about every sense - but the price for the location is what tips the scale from a 3 to a 4. The pasta meals were huge, nicely flavoured and reasonably priced. The service was average. The desserts although made in house were not as good as you would think, their dessert special of the day was better than what was on the menu. The ambiance is nice, there were several groups of 6-8 people as well as several couples. If we were with people that liked a lot of food for the money we would go here again - but in terms of delicious food, we'll keep looking for a favorite pasta spot. For 4 people including wine, dessert and dinner the bill was under $200 which we found was reasonable, especially for Robson Street.

After reading all the reviews for Zefferelli's (and living up the street for years), my husband and I went for a late dinner on a Friday night. While it wasn't busy, there were more tables than I anticipated.
Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and quick. When I was debating between two different wines he brought me a taster of each. Definitely a nice touch for a fairly casual place.
He recommended the veal parm with pesto spaghetti so I went for it. I've never ordered veal in my life..it was delish! My husband had the the Spaghetti carbonara (as rec on here) and it didn't disappoint! If I had to complain about something it would be that there was no salt or pepper on the tables. That said, everything was fairly well seasoned and they did bring out fresh pepper without being asked.
Dinner was delish, service was fab...highly recommend this place!! Cute, homey decor, great food, great service, reasonable prices (2 drink each, caesar salad, 2 entrees was $88).
Cant wait to go back! -

Food: 4.5*
Ok maybe I am over enthusiastic because this is my very first review. But I LOVE pasta. I could have it every day, 3 times a day if I could (which I did when I was in Rome :p). This is probably my favorite Italian restaurant in Vancouver. I have never had a bad meal here. Granted, I've only ever had pasta there. Not sure about the other dishes. My fave dish is the Spaghetti Carbonara.
Ambiance: 3.5*
The restaurant is really open; one big rectangle. Lights are dimmed at dinner time. Fairly romantic. Especially if you sit by the window.
Service: 4*
No complains. Staff are friendly. You get a basket of bread and a bottle of water placed at your table at the beginning of service. Why can't all places do that?
Price: 4*
Pastas at dinner average ~$15. Now this is a good price to me because the portions are big enough that I always get leftovers (except it is really tough 'cause I always want to finish the whole thing since it's so yummy but i know I would have food coma after..) -

I went here with my husband and son before we had to pick his folks up from the airport. I am not even kidding the waiter dumped pasta all over my infant son. Imagine how happy I was. They comped us dessert, after we had to wait some time for them to refire our food (which was all over my kid). If you see me here, i'm a hostage or something.

Review from Christopher M.
We were there for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We shared a carafe of house red wine, a montelpuciano, which was great and definitely a good value. There were three of us; we ordered the halibut lunch special which was enjoyable. We also ordered the penne michelangelo, and the tortellini gorgonzola. Both of the pasta dishes were fantastic, particularly the tortellini. With all of the pasta dishes, you can order a smaller lunch-size portion for ~11.50, but if you are pretty hungry you should get the full order.
The restaurant serves bread with a cold pasta sauce on the side - it's pretty good. We found the service to be efficient and pleasant. The ambiance is authentic, like many modern restaurants in Italy. It's nice to sit by the window and enjoy the view of Robson street.
After lunch, I ordered espresso which wasn't good. Find a real cafe after your meal. -

I'm always surprised at how this place doesn't get crazy traffic, being situated on Robson St. and due to the great quality food & service! This is my go-to restaurant for the best pasta dishes in town. Spaghetti carbonara is a favourite: it's rich, silky and smoky all at the same time. If you have a salt craving, this is your dish. Along with a side caesar salad... sinful!

I totally forgot to write about this place.
I've been here many times before....years ago. and it was on one recent occasion that just prompted me to ask her out for dinner. I asked and she said sure. I have to admit, I was quite giddy at the prospect of having dinner with her, and at Zefferelli's.
The food was wonderfull. I enjoyed every bite. Service was terrific and it couldn't have been a better night for me. I sure hope that I'll get to do more of them in the future and that it also includes Zefferelli's.
What seemed like a dream for me (I probably bored her to death) made for a meal I won't forget. I sure hope I get the chance to do this again. Italian is one of my favourite foods. It's almost like a passion for me. -

Excellent second story restaurant on the main drag in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Food is good from spaghetti to osso bucco.
House wine tastes good and is reasonably priced.
Waiter was a kick in the ass!
Would eat there again.
Try it you will like it. -

One of my fav places to go when I crave for pasta. I frequent this place often, with its convenient location, it's a perfect wind down place after a day of shopping on Robson.
The place can get busy on weekend nights, so call ahead and make reservations. I love the decor of this place, large windows overlooking Robson street, dark hardwood floors, with accents of maroon and black. A large open room, with mirrors on the wall make this place unique, a nice juxtaposition to the bustling shoppers outside. My favourite table is right by the window, where the summer breeze complements a night of pasta and wine.
They always have savoury specials. So far, I have tried their steak-Center Cut Sirloin - with peppercorn sauce, blue cheese risotto & sauteed spinach. Suprisingly, the blue cheese risottoa and the steak is perfectly done. Juicy, yet flavourful.
Penne Salmone - B.C. smoked salmon & peas curry cream sauce- curry in pasta is my new fave thing. The combination of smoked salmon and curry just works.
Spaghetti con Vongole - clams, garlic, white wine & olive oil- not outstanding, clams were a little overcooked.
Spaghetti Carbonnara - pancetta bacon, egg yolk, black pepper & cream: Delicious! Just enough pancetta, just enough flavour...one of my favourite dishes!
Several times I went and they had a pasta special: Fettucine with prawns and a pesto cream sauce with black squid ink pasta. MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE!!
A good selection of wine. I usually get a rose or a pinot grigio to accompany my dish.
Service has always been great for me here. They place a bottle of ice water (water placed in an empty wine bottle) on your table, so there's no need to wait for them to fill your glasses-just do it yourself. I don't mind. They always serve you bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It's a nice addition.
Prices are resonable, as they serve quite a large portion. I can usually finish just a little over half, and save the rest for lunch the next day. It tastes just as good!
It's good to know that there's a place on Robson that can always serve good food, and not taking too much out of my wallet. Always a pleasant experience.
Their pastas have never failed me- always al dente, and the sauces never too heavy or light. It's always-perfect. -

This place is on my food crawl list. The chicken livers are ridiculous and I just go for them and the deliciously priced house wine. I got a little carried away and got a complete order for myself - they were too rich for an entire meal. Too much of a good thing - is true. If your dining partner wants to share a plate I recommend it. OUTSTANDING service as well. A little Robson gem. Shh!

Review from Molly W.
The food was decent, if not slightly overpriced - we both got fettucini con rappini with duck sausage. The service was pretty crappy though. The waitress gave almost preferential treatment to the two other customers near us (it was lunch hour) and she hardly gave us eye contact at all. She slopped water all over our table and didn't bother cleaning her own mess up, she was brusque and curt with us but very friendly to the other folks, and I can't help but feel that it's because we are college aged and dressed casual, but nowhere near shabby at all. It's like she thought we shouldn't have disgraced their establishment with our presence.
On top of that they don't accept debit at all, so we had to run across the street to get money from an ATM. Would have been nice if they had a notification somewhere about that, but oh well.
Their martinis are ridiculously overpriced for ridiculously small volumes, and the capri I got just flat out SUCKED.
I'm never going there again, which is sad because I really like Italian food. -
Review from Tim L.
Zefferelli's is a decent place to grab Italian food on Robson without shelling out too much dough.
The atmosphere is nice with the pricing being the strong point amongst other higher priced restaurants in the area. Typically between $10-$20 a person. The portions seem skewed towards being larger with the pasta dishes which is probably what I would suggest sticking with.
One part that was slightly disappointing was their desserts which I found were much better elsewhere, but that may be a matter of preference. I found the tiramisu overly dense and too sweet. Just a little over the top on every aspect, however if you like an uber rich dessert then it may serve you perfectly. -
Review from Anita T.
Toronto, ON
This place is ridiculously overpriced and the food isn't even that tasty! I went here thinking "Oh! Italian food! I love Italian food!" but I was unfortunately disappointed. Walking into the restaurant initially, I knew I had gotten myself into a situation. The atmosphere was very stuffy and I felt the servers look me up and down as if I wasn't good enough to be eating there.
Then I got the menu and there was not much selection and everything was priced quite over the top. Every now and again, you'd hear the door open from downstairs where you get catch a whiff of the Cactus Club which shared a bathroom with this Italian restaurant.
Do yourself a favor - if you're on Robson Street looking for Italian food - just go to the Cactus Club underneath Zeffirelli's and I assure you, you will be more satisfied that if you go to the latter. -

We ended a cruise in Vancouver and decided to stay a couple extra nights to explore the city. We were a pretty large group (6 of us) but walked in at 7:30 and were ushered to a table promptly. The food was, in a word, delicious! Portions are huge and easily split. We started off with various salads, all fresh and tasty. Most of my companions ordered pasta dishes and I enjoyed the chicken parmigiana so we were able to taste each others entrees and no one was disappointed. The pasta is cooked perfectly and the sauces have wonderful flavor. Nice wine list and the house red (a montepulciano) is a fabulous value at $25 / bottle. Service was excellent. Too bad we don't live in Vancouver, BC!!

How it went down:
The Event: meeting an old roommate from first and second year uni to catch up on life.
Note: We've always had differing tastes when it comes to dinning - mine being more picky for the "right" but "sparse" combo of ingredients, a want for the freshest and most choice components - hers more about a familiar dish - think:, yam fries, wild salmon, "generally nice italian food."
My choice would have been Campagnolo, because when it comes to authentic Italian, I know that I'll get the BEST and MOST for my money there! However, I am always willing to try new places, and this one's a block from my house, so we went with hers: Zefferelli's.
I have to say, the food was delicious. I had the Linguini Putanesca, which has capers, olives and pre-de-tailed prawns in a spicy tomato sauce, not that it was so much on the spicy side, but the plate was piled with pasta and it was a seriously on-the-mark dish.
The vibe was great for a chat and some sipping; we sat by the window and tonight, thanks to daylight savings, we caught the last few hours of day from above Robson, feeling comfy with some deliciousness to cast a warm glow on the often mismatched ideas of what life is now, beyond our olden days. I loved the chairs!!!
We had dessert too, since I ordered a 1/2 litre of pinot grigio, and the waiter suggested the lemon tart, which I ate in about 2 minutes flat, while my friend prattled on about the new boys in her life.
It was more than I expected, and I'd take others there in the future, perhaps not my mom, since she's a sucker for fresh restos with a solid something to say, but this was a classic and delicious place, with good choices, and even at $60 for the whole meal, I felt quite satisfied that I got what I paid for. -

Some friends and I stopped by this place one late afternoon last Spring. We were the first people to arrive for the evening so the place was quiet.
I had a pasta dish that was amazing. My friends were also impressed with their meals.
I recall the menu having a bit of variety. The surroundings were modern and warm. We sat next to the window so we could see the trees on Robson St.
I highly recommend this place! -

Stumbled upon this place looking for a dinner restaurant for the family. We enjoyed it. My daughter and I had the Chicken Parmigiana. The sauce was a little heavy and the chicken was not as plump as I would have liked it but it was still good. My wife and son had the Spaghetti Carbonara and enjoyed it very much. I thought it was a little heavy with too much cream. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor looking over Robson street. Service was very good and they had a decent wine list.

Amazing bread with a chilled gazpacho like dip to start you off. Warm spinach salad with goat cheese and bacon. And of course, pasta. It's all good in a small comfortable setting overlooking a busy shopping street.

Review from Denis C.
With its walls lined up with wine bottles, this restaurant can serve as either a casual or romantic spot for dinner. While the inside feels dressy casual, many of the diners were certainly casual.
Service as prompt and the food was good. But the clear star of this restaurant came in the form of one of its appeitizers: the meatballs. How can one mess up meatballs? I've been to plenty of restaurants where I often ask myself why did I bother, but this dish was perfect. I could have just ordered two of these and another for dessert. For my main dish, I had a penne pasta with salmon and curry sauce which was good.
There is a good wine selection and mixed drinks are also available. We finished our night with a plate of tiramisu. Good, but not in my top 5.
Food: 4.5 stars
Service: 4.5 stars
Dessert: 4 stars

I've been here a half dozen times and have always been pleased with my meals. I find the prices reasonable, service good, nice atmosphere/location and most of all the food is good and satisfying.
It's a comfortable, casual dining experience. I readily admit it is not gourmet Italian dining but I prefer it to spending a lot in a pretentious so called gourmet Italian restaurant and leaving still hungry. -
Review from Becca C.
I really enjoyed my experience here. We had walked by a surf'n'turf place earlier and thought $50 for a steak? No thanks. I was craving some Italian anyway. Being upstairs, it feels removed from all the hustle and bustle of Robson St, a bit more intimate. Dark wood furniture, candlelit atmosphere, a wall of beautifully stacked wine bottles, and a huge chalkboard above the open kitchen outlining the specials all add to the ambiance.
The bread served was just fine, but oddly enough, it came with a tomato-based dipping sauce. No olive oil, or even balsamic were brought to the table...so I wasn't sure how the rest of the meal was going to turn out, but was very pleasantly surprised. The appetizer of mussels in a garlic cream sauce with rosemary and spicy sausage was delicious and flavorful. After ordering our entrees, we were informed (not by our server), that the regular side dish of potatoes were not available, so we subbed it for something else, no big deal. However, I thought at the last minute I wanted to switch it to mushroom risotto, so I told our server, who was confused (and maybe a bit mad) that no one from the kitchen had informed him potatoes weren't available. I chalk this upto his great attention to detail and desire to be professional and informed. I giggled at his seriousness while drinking my beautiful Chianti; all was good.
I had one of the specials, silver salmon in a balsamic demiglace with strawberries. The smokey flavor of the salmon matched the savory sweetness of the strawberries. The mushroom risotto was delicious and creamy, not too heavy with the sauce, and FULL of mushrooms, not just mushroom bits.
By the end of this, we were stuffed. Sadly, no room for tiramisu. Maybe next time....All in all, I really enjoyed my meal here, it was the best I experienced in my short first visit to Vancouver. The only thing I'm not crazy about was the rather expensive wine. The Chianti was delicious, but I'm not sure it was worth $30....maybe $20. The prosecco was perfect to whet my appetite, but at $9 a glass, it was pricey as well. The service was professional, helpful, and kind. As we were leaving, the staff wished us goodbye, which I always really appreciate. I'll be back someday. -

was here last night as a 'date' for my best friends work dinner.
i must say, the inside of the restaurant is quite pretty. when you walk in, you are greeted with a big ice display of a...buffet salad bar?? im not quite sure what it was..i didn't notice any people get up to get food from there so....?? hmmmm....but it was nice to look at?
zefferelli WINS:
me and my best friend ordered 3 dishes between us to share (yes, we are gluttons). we had the wild salmon with a strawberry sauce, risotto and asparagus. salmon was yummy, the strawberry sauce was very different! (unfortunately, the risotto was somewhat tasteless..FAIL) we also had the tortellini in a creamy sauce...mmmm, bacon bits..... and finally, the ravioli filled with mozzarella and spinach in a tomato meat sauce. THIS was the winner!! delish!!
we also went with the tiramisu for dessert....im not a huge fan of this particular dessert since ive had some REAL bad ones, but i read that they're made IN HOUSE..so i had to try it. it was SOooOooooOOOOOO good. the tiramisu alone can have 5 yelp stars! yumo!
zefferlli FAILS:
we also shared the polenta chocolate cake..although not horrible, it wasn't that great. a little on the heavy side..and just didn't hit the spot like the tiramisu.
service was lacking. our server was never around...we had to wait a very long time to order food...an even longer time to order dessert..and by the time we wanted our bills, we were all pretty impatient.
THEY DONT ACCEPT DEBIT CARD PAYMENTS?! who doesn't take debit cards nowadays?! especially slightly more 'upscale' restaurants like this?! on robson st?!? seriously?? not impressed with that. (we didn't pay by debit, but there were a couple people who had to run across the street to the bank machine...boo)
overall, the food was good...service was meh...don't know how soon i'd return. maybe for the tiramisu.Listed in: Mama Mia!

The best thing about Zeferelli's is without a doubt the dining room. Dark wooden furniture, an impressive wall of wine and hanging fairy lights surprisingly didn't appear tacky but added to the classic relaxed classy atmosphere. Definitely try and grab a spot by the window so you can gaze down over Robson street as you enjoy your plate of pasta. Food is ok but not outstanding and the restaurant is moderately priced. I have always found the service to be warm and friendly.

For feel good Italian at a nice price, I would go to Zefferelli's. The dishes are simple and taste good. You can find pasta dishes like spaghetti and rigatoni, but it's the more delicate chicken livers, or antipasti, breads, mussels and chicken parmesan that are really tasty. The room is very traditional Italian with a dark wood interior and carpet, the booth seating has black leather covers. The room has a musty smell and brings you back to Little Italy or to a spot where old mafiosos once might have hung-out. Kind of like in the movie, Goodfellas.

We come here when ever we are in town and we love it. Great ambiance and casual upscale style. The food is lovely, you'll love the antipasti and the spaghetti vongole. This time I had the oso bucco (the carrots seemed a tad out of place but didn't detract from the dish) quite a nice little wine selection. And the staff is more than willing to look up a cocktail recipe. The staff, you will find to be honest and genuinely kind. Yes we are talking about you Anna.

Nothing special about this place....except great location on Robson
