So I was in desperate need of a new stylist, since where I'd been going before, I suddenly tired of playing phone tag...so I passed an eye-catching billboard on the way up Mountain Hwy in North Van and called Zazou. I'm glad I did. Really. I had Natasha cut and style my hair, she listened to what I wanted, offered up some advice and ideas and I happily gave her creative control. The atmosphere was funky and laid back; not at all pretentious like some downtown salons can feel like.
They do spa treatments there as well, and a private curtained area for pedicures was off to the side as well.
The stylists range in experience (and price). I called this morning and took one of the last 2 remaining spots and Natasha was ore of a junior stylist I guess you could say, but she was far from inexperienced.
I'll be back. Yeah. -

I love that I can get a downtown salon and spa experience in North Vancouver. Zazou is hip and professional, yet down to earth. I've had my haircut, my eyebrows waxed, a pedicure, a massage, and a facial at Zazou and it was all fabulous. Zazou has spa specials each month, so check their website to see what's new. Another great offer is that Zazou has a Refer-a-Friend discount where each time you refer a friend you get $20 towards your next spa visit and they get $20 off of theirs. Message me if you want to be friends ;)

Great salon. Fabulous atmosphere. I started going to Zazou when they were located in their previous locale across the street. It was small and cramped but even then it had a funky, trendy vibe about it. Now that they have all grown up and moved into this fabulous wide open space, that vibe is still there. You feel like you are in a chic downtown salon, except you look outside and you are surrounded by the mountain s of the North Shore.
When you walk in the salon they make you feel very welcome (not like some high end salons) and offer you a complimentary beverage (wine and scotch available!!) . The stylists are all very nice and talented. Depending on the popularity of a stylist and their seniority the price of a cut and style will vary.
It is not a cheap (ie inexpensive) salon but I have discovered the hard way with hair...cheap hair cuts just do not work...unless its a buzz cut you are going for. I always leave feeling really good about my hair and that is the result of having a great stylist (Kim).
If you are in the market for a new salon and stylist, check this place out. You will likely be pleased with the results. -

Terrible experience. Last Friday, I got my hair done @ Zazou Salon in North Vancouver. I requested a honey blonde colour (even sent in a picture 4 weeks before my visit) with the same stylist I've seen for over 2 years. She completely comprised my hair by over processing the roots, and I left with 2 strawberry blonde tones.I made an appointment the very next day to get it fixed (with a new stylist) only to find out that that my hair was too compromised for more colour. The solution, dark brown with a shorter hair cut. Upon leaving, when the stylist recommended over $100.00 worth of product (to restore my damaged hair) I wasn't willing to pay - I had the manager phoned and asked for my first appointment to be credited so I could pay for the product. Today the manager called and said that I'm not invited back to the salon (that a staff member got upset after my visit). Apparently the front of staff is not equipped to deal with an unsatisfied customer. Imagine yourself in my shoes. I'm extremely disappointed. This is unacceptable behavior for any respectable business.
