    More of a 2.5

My review of this store is pretty much the same for all of the stores.  I've been to 3 of them (Robson, Richmond and Metrotown) and this is the one I frequent the most.  This is the only location where the mens and womens is in separate stores.  These are the things I notice from all 3:

    1.  Nobody greets you, which may or may not be a bad thing,
    2.  Nobody comes up to you to say, "Just to let you know..........."  Again, may or may not be a bad thing,
    3.  You have to ask someone to help you,
    4. Only once did someone go out of their way to help,
    5.  The staff is generally cold in their personality. Nobody smiles - very hands off for customer service.  If you don't want to get hassled, this is your place!
    6.  When you pay, the (cold personality) cashier will not ask if anybody helped you. Tells me ONE thing and ONE thing only.  NO SALES INCENTIVES for employees, although I could be wrong.

That said, I do like SOME of the clothing.  I have only purchased shirts from Zara.  Nothing else.  The clothing is generally aimed at 19-24 year olds, and maybe older hipsters.  I am out of that age demographic, and I don't want to be walking around looking geek chic.  The mens suit jackets and blazers at Zara are made for night-clubbing, not for a serious professional.

I personally, would not buy a suit from here.  I've examined the suits and they are not my style - too trendy, and quality wise, terrible.  Fit and cut is too hipsterish.  Is that a even a word?

Pay the bucks if you want a well fitted and proper suit.  Go to the HR's (Harry Rosen or Holt Renfrew), or even the West Side Room at the Bay.  A well made and well fitted suit goes a long way and elevates a well groomed gentleman, not a boy.

I agree with all the previous reviews, I really love Zara clothing, but the customer service here is the worst! You feel humiliated as soon as you address any one of the sales agents. They give you short, snappy responses while rolling their eyes. I couldn't believe it!
If I really want to buy something there, I just try not to deal with sales people inside. Just try it on, pay and get the hell out!

First off, let me state, I'm a fan of Zara clothing.  Shopped there with the wife a lot when we lived in Bangkok, but the Robson store in Vancouver......SUCKS!

I stopped in with my wife and sister and watched my wife get yelled at, sister get ignored and I was told not to lean on the racks "Because they're very sensitive".  Since when did inanimate objects develop feelings??

The staff is some of the worst in any clothing store I've been in (and growing up with sisters...i've been in an helluva lot).  I'm actually kind of glad that this store doesn't carry the men's line, as I have a better excuse never to go in again.

Too bad, because like I said, I like the clothing.

A lot of the stores are having these ridiculous sales so I was able to get three awesome sweaters for about $25 each. There is a huge table with a lot of clothes just piled on so you have to dig through but you will find some gems.

Next time I come up here, I am going to bring $300 with me and add more clothes to my wardrobe.

    Mi Favorito mon cheri

What do you mean you have this in a size small? wow that's a first to find something I liked, and to have a store carry it in my size. I am not trying to say that the asians in canada are shopaholics, but wherever I go that there are alot of asians, or people of my size.(4'11.100 pds. with curves) I am shit out of luck;  no where to be found. It's like finding a's in your alphabet soup, it's there but near impossible to find. :) I am not complaining but it sucks to find cute clothes, and then having the sales people tell you that it's out of stock.. what do you mean out of stock.. well restock it then bitches!!!!!!!!!! NOW!!! hahahaah jk... I wish I were that mean, and had that much authority..... but no..... better luck next time....

    anyhow, back to the review

I heart Zara, I am glad that it is in sf and it's at my disposal in the states. However, it doesn't compare to the first Zara's that I've been too (Robson street). But regardless,  I love it here because the clothes are business/trendy/fashion forward and the sales people are eager to help you with anything you need.

When ever in the need of a really good outfit that's current..fashionable and not to $$$, Zara is a great place to get such an item.

I do have one problem though...on a recent trip I was delighted to see "SALE" signs in the window..upon entering the store my delight quickly turned to dread as it was a mass of tables piled will sweaters and t-shirts all unfolded..crumpled..and left for dead...I was so over whelmed at the mass chaos of tourists raping the tables that I had to turn and leave...very sad...a day at Zara without a purchase is like a day without sunshine..okay maybe that's a little dramatic..anyway.. I recommend that you skip the sales..it's too much of a shit show..and wait for the new collection as it will rarely disappoint.

Without Zara, I wouldn't be able to clothe myself! Great clothes. You HAVE to try everything on though. 1 out of 5 things you choose will fit the way you want it to. Pretty decent prices for what you are getting. They are super fast at copying trends right off the runway. And new items arrive every week. This is not the store you go to and expect great customer service. That's why the prices are low! If there is another place that offers great current clothes at these prices AND very attentive service, let me know, cause I haven't found it.

If you are in search of the latest knock-off of a trendy item you've seen in a fashion magazine, look no further that Zara!

While finding anything in this store is a bit of a crap-shoot, you just have to breathe and find calm in the uber-afforable prices and good quality pieces.  Not only does Zara carry great trendy wear, but also awesome staple pieces from sweaters and t-shirts to stilettos and coats, and everything in between.  The wee ones in your life will thank you for taking them to such a fashionable store and they will surely be the envy of their school mates in adorable mini-me outfits.

I've bought a thing or two from here but I actually like Zara more for men's basics.  The t-shirts and button-ups are affordable and come in a million different seasonal colours.  This is a great place for the man in your life who doesn't enjoy shopping as much as you do, as the men's side of the store is always less busy and also much smaller.  At least one of you can go home feeling less worse for shopping - wear!

In poor economic times like these, what do you do?  Shop, of course.

The dollar is stronger (not strong) in Canada.  That's more than enough reason for me to indulge.

Oh Zara. If you can look past the messiness and choas, you are bound to find some great pieces at some even greater prices!

I often come here to get work clothes - because that's something you usually don't want to spend too much money on... They usually have a great selection of sweaters that are in and around $20!!! Seriously. You never see that anymore. And they're just regular plain sweaters - from V-necks to Crew necks to Cardigans - you'll love it!

I just returned from a fabulous six-week trip to Spain, home of Zara, the chain-retail store we Canadians know and love for its trendy, thrifty rip-offs of all the latest and hottest men's and women's European runway fashions.

In Spain, there was an imposing six-or-more-storey Zara on just about every street corner, so there was (almost) no shortage of stock for us to choose from. In Vancouver, we're not so lucky. So here's all you really need to know: Zara receives new stock every Tuesday and Friday. Some styles make one shipment only. Act swiftly. Styles go fast, and once a new shipment's been picked over by hungry fashionistas hoping for a deal, you're outta luck.

If in search for a calm, relaxing retail experience, this is the last place you'll want to visit. By mid-morning, things have been thrown helter-skelter on table tops, coats have been picked over and misplaced, shoes have lost their pair, and women are already fuming impatiently as they wait for their turn in the claustrophobia-inducing fitting rooms.

That said, at times Zara is still worth a gander. Hip, stylish and affordable. Whether you're looking for something to prettify or wear to work, the styles available here can be easily molded to suit any lifestyle.

I love Zara.  Fashionable, quality and affordable clothing that's somewhat like a nicer, upscale H&M.  Based in Spain, Zara has a range of classic items for men and women, to really wild, trendy pieces.  It's definitely a destination when I come to Vancouver.

This last visit I scored the cutest, hottest, coolest black leather jacket and it's pretty much the best thing since sliced bread.

I don't even want to give this store in Vancouver one star but no choice.
I totally agree with Scott and R.M. Avoid this store--there are much better stores to not only try clothing on but also to avoid uncomfortable feelings you get from the workers.

I have visited this location 2 weeks ago. I was looking for clothing and even if they looked at me and my friend, two men ignored. They could not stop talking shit about their personal stuff. I feel like this store only belongs to their own family or VIP customers.
We did not feel welcomed. In fact they kinda wanted us to go away. They just chatted and looked around. I left the store without buying anything. I cannot just go to the store just because I like the clothing. I also expect store clerks to at least say hi or not to make customers feel awkward and uncomfortable looking for clothing. I will likely shop at A/X.

I like going to Zara from time to time to see whats hot and whats not.  Over the past two weeks I have been fantasizing about  this leather bomber, and I told myself I would play the fate game and scour the city to see if there was anything better... well there wasn't.  So today off I went to see if my coveted jacket was still there and low and behold it was!  so I tried it on again to see if is was still the one, and it was!  With my treasure in hand I went to the till to pay and this is where it all went downhill!

I was the ONLY person in line and the whole transaction took about 20 mins! (no kidding) First off I waited for 10 mins before someone could actually come help me and when someone did they came sauntering out of the stock room in absolutely no hurry. I felt like Meryl Streep in the movie The devil wears Prada when all her assistants are not moving fast enough and she blurts out "By all means move at a glacial pace... you know how that thrills me."  .... I almost blurted this sentiment out to my cashier but I felt I might offend and it might slow him down even more (if this is possible)  He finally rung me in and processed my payment and then proceeded to fold my jacket sleeeeeeeeeeve.... by sleeeeeeeeeeeeve.... and foooooooooooold it in half ......ZZZZZZZ  I think this is where I nodded off.  Finally with purchase in hand I exited the store in haste excited about my new purchase but dissatisfied with my service!

"By all means move at a glacial pace.  You know how that thrills me."

I have been a Zara fan for years, and in Europe I experienced this store on a whole new level. In Europe the prices are brill, the store is immaculate, the merchanising makes sense, the whole experience is just great - plus i could always walk in and want to purchase half the store. Here - not so much. It is like a clearance center in there - if you actually have the patience to dig through the racks and table tops, things just aren't as great. it's cheaper here, but just too annoying to shop. I have found things there, but rarely buy - found a dress I loved in there once but the entire zipper was just busted to bits. I avoid it now, compared to its European glory it just makes me sad to go in there here.

Personally I think Zara is slightly overrated, it's a cool store to check out from time-to-time, but I think there are better places for an even better value. I definitely don't shop at this location for the service. I understand that the store is quite busy, but I never get acknowledged by the staff working there. I don't need assistance with my shopping, but it's still nice to be greeted in a store. I did find a pretty summer dress on my last visit that I couldn't resist, so I think Zara is still "A-OK".

I fell in love with Zara in Spain before it ever came to Canada.  Although I still like to go to Zara when I need a t-shirt or a trendy pieces that will for sure go out of style but won't break the bank, I find the Canadian line half as inspiring or creative as the European one. The clothes don't fit as well either. The Robson store is very impressive, the all glass window display is very chic. But to pay $200 for a leather bag that's made in Tunisia or Croatia and looks really cheap is not worth it. If I had to pick a store between H and M and Zara, I would go with H and M.  And avoid going on Saturdays, holidays and weekends.  The crowds, change rooms and messy clothing shelves are hard to deal with.  What I do like is that they have a basic line that kind of shows you what the must-get or starting item is in the outfit and then you build on from there.  The Zara collection pieces are also lovely.
