I love family diners and especially breakfast all day kind of places.  I'm not sure why Angela L. (previous reviewer) goes to breakfast diners if she has 'Wessyde' expectations of the Hyatt or 'nutritionally sound' organic & low calorie meals in the first place ??

Breakfast is breakfast, and eggs, hashbrowns, brown bread toast is a great way to start a weekend :-)  I hope to return to try the sushi, but I love the sandwiches & breakfasts so far!  The place is clean, and the husband/wife team are very efficient!

We're now regulars here, but only for the breakfast, not for the sushi.  They really should rebrand from 'Yummy Sushi' to 'Hidden Gem Cheap Breakfast'.

$2.99 for 5 pc bacon (or ham or sausage), 2 toast, 2 eggs, large serving of awesome hashbrowns (shredded, not deep fried home fries!), $1 coffee that is tasty, refilled every sip, and in cute teacups...

Pretty damn phenomenal service from husband/wife team, so friendly that you'll find yourself smiling ear-to-ear.  He cooks and comes out to remove your plate when you're done, she serves and takes care of the tidying and money.

This place is not dirty, it's just small, functional and they haven't put much money into decor.  Yes there's a fridge in the dining area, and yes you do feel like you're eating in some Vancouver special east side kitchen with your friends mom playing hostess, but isn't that what a great hangover should be about?

My beau wanted to try this place after reading about it on Yelp, as in, actually wanted to go to the effort of going there intentionally, so I indulged him. After having some difficulty finding it, we finally managed to locate this supposedly "yummy" "sushi" restaurant. I paused outside to peruse the menu that was posted in the window. I felt both shock and awe at the frighteningly low prices and the diverse menu options, and turned to my partner in apprehension, but it was too late.

Upon entering the deserted restaurant-slash-living room and being greeted enthusiastically, we sat down and placed our orders. While we waited for our food, my boyfriend vacillated between giggling and apologizing, whilst sipping his cup of what looked like coffee flavoured water. I stuck with my water flavoured water, which was topped up after every sip I took.

When our food finally arrived, I was confronted with a plate containing a grilled cheese sandwich made from a white, "french loaf", presumably, no name brand processed cheese singles, and a generous side of shredded potatoes. Please make of this what you will. I of course, used ketchup at the table as the finishing touch on this culinary masterpiece. My boyfriend enjoyed his breakfast plate, which was equally as negative-nutritional value as mine.

I'm not uppity by any means, and you really can't complain about the quality of the food given the price, but I have to say, I have one major gripe about this place...which is the totally misleading name of the restaurant! Maybe if we agreed to call it Cheap Breakfast instead...

As a first-timer to Vancouver, all I wanted was to start my Canadian experience with a grand breakfast at the Granville Public Market.  After a looooong walk from our downtown hotel, over the bridge, and way further south than we had hoped to end up, we started making our trek back towards the market.

Then we saw it: a sandwich board on the sidewalk advertising breakfast for $2.95.

    Suckas!

Now, I'm one of those dorks that thinks everything happens for a reason.  I mean, I see sandwich boards all the time, yet usually ignore them.  However, this one beckoned to me.  Moments later, were sitting inside a small, somewhat dark dining room perusing a bright yellow laminated menu, wondering if breakfast in Canada would differ greatly from that in the States (answer: no).

We ordered two plates of the basics: French toast, eggs, bacon, hash browns, wheat toast.  Nothing super fancy, but the service was great and the food arrived pretty quickly.

We didn't come back for the sushi, which is apparently their specialty.  I don't recall the price, but you definitely get a buttload of sushi for only a few loonies.

(Finally, a review using the words "buttload" AND "loonies"!)

This is a regular spot for me.  I love the owners, they're always running the place with quick service and a friendly attitude.

I gave this place 5 stars not for the sushi (which I have never tried) but more for their breakfast specials.  For $2.99 you get 2 pcs of toast, 2 eggs, a large helping of hashbrowns and your choice of 5 pc bacon, 4 pc sausage or 3 pc ham.  Now, if you have a little intuition about the food industry, you can guess that for $2.99 you will not be getting a sleek restaurant serving fresh, local ingredients.  This is a hangover place, where you can let the greasy food and cheap coffee soak up your sins from the night before.  Did I mention that I love the people who run this place?

Also try the milkshake and bacon cheeseburger w/ hash browns.

I decided to try this place today after a grueling hike (long story short: the Baden-Powell trail is not well marked). I was immediately stuck by the drab interior; however, my experience was brightened by the two smiling staff at Yummy Sushi (presumably the owners, a couple). I ordered the 2.95 breakfast special, which comprised of 5 slices of bacon (or alternatively 4 sausage links), two eggs, two slices of toast, and an ample serving of hash browns. The food was good, nothing too special but well worth the price. I will definitely be visiting Yummy Sushi again.

    Note: they accept cash only.

It's tough to rate this place because although the food is probably less than sub-par, you can also get entire meals for the change you find under your couch cushions, in the bottom of your purse, or on the ground on they way  to restaurant itself. The service (the mom of this mom-and-pop) is also EXTREMELY nice. One could even say TOO nice (although one might seem like a jerk if one did).

Yummy Sushi is a hole in the wall, serving $2.99 breakfast til 6pm everyday. This is your run of the mill greasy spoon meal (2 eggs, toast, 4 sausage/5 bacon, hashbrown). FIVE bacons though? that's quite a few - granted it is, again, sub-par.

It's curious why they call it's Yummy Sushi since there is very little selection for sushi (or for yummy for that matter). What's even more curious is how Eva B had sashimi as they don't serve any type of fish product at all. Maybe that's why it tasted funny. Their 'sushi/japanese" selections are limited to anything that can be made with rice/veggies/artificial crab. The miso soup has a really stange taste, kind of sweet and seaweed filled. The avocado roll is probably the safest bet when it comes to Japanese fare - although it's probably best to stick to burgers or breakfast.

In sum: the food is borderline awful but the service and savings are out of this world - and to me, that deserves three stars.

Someone recently asked me what is the worst restaurant I have eaten at in Vancouver.  I have to say Yummy Sushi at Pine and 4th is it.
I will start by stating that this is not just an ordinary sushi establishment.  It's a sort of a Canadian and Japanese fusion restaurant. In addition to a fairly slim assortment of Japanese 'delicacies', Yummy Sushi also serves a basic bacon, eggs, toast and hashbrown breakfast which I am assuming is how they are able to keep the doors open.

My sister and I walked in off the street enticed by the name.  She ordered the tuna sashimi and I ordered the tuna roll and a California roll.  The tuna sashimi looked a bit grey.  My sister tried a bite and didn't feel safe swallowing, so politely spit it out in her napkin.  I decided to forgo the tuna roll as it had the same greyish hue.  The California roll was 'interesting'.  I believe they used Uncle Ben's butter flavoured converted rice.  I can honestly say instant butter flavoured rice does not go well with imitation crab and avocado.  Maybe they ran out of short grained white rice that day, but I won't be returning to find out.

I'm not a snob when it comes to decor.  If the food is good I really don't care as long as it's clean.  However, the ambiance here matches the food.  If I could give this place less than one star I would.

Breakfast at a sushi place - YES!!!!!  Very worth it - great bargain and good food. Fast service also...hard to find good bargains for your money in Vancouver but this is one of those places.

I dont know what cloud I was floating on when I ate here this summer, perhaps it was the weather and the company that had me coming back for pre-beach eats, but eating here today was lackluster at best. The bacon was hard and cold, the hashbrown almost entirely burnt together. The toast and eggs were top notch, but they seemed like the only thing that was actually cooked when we got there instead of the hour before. The service was still as fast and friendly as usual, and they try not to rush you out with the bill. Im not saying to completely avoid this place at all, but you definitely get what you pay for.

I must be mildly masochistic because I really have a soft spot for sketchy diners serving greasy breakfast food.. And this place really fits the bill. Babygirl and I decided to check this spot out today and entered what appeared to be a poorly decorated livingroom cluttered with tables and chairs. We were greeted warmly by the proprietors and the wife came over to serve us while the husband snuck off to the back. We collectively ordered a sausage breakfast, grilled cheese and coffee. The service was ridiculously friendly, and this eccentric woman would attempt to refill our coffee and water almost constantly. My breakfast was pretty solid. The portions were generous, even when not taking the $2.99 price tag into account. Four sausages, eggs, a bunch of shredded potato done up all crunchy and two pieces of toast. We tried to cop some hot sauce, but were handed a tube from the refrigerator (which is situated in the 'living room') which looked mad old and crusty - so we opted out. When all was said and done we were thanked 28 more times and were handed a bill for 7.83. How Eva's crew mustered up the courage to order sashimi is beyond me, but I'd mosdef return for the brekkies.
