We had reserved tickets to see Noel Fielding's show. Traffic was horrible, so we were running behind. We phoned to let the box office know we might be a little late picking up the tickets. The lady we spoke to was very friendly and helpful, and she assured us we had nothing to worry about. Indeed, we did not.
When we arrived, there were only a few people in the line, and everything went smoothly. Soon, we were inside and being guided by a most cordial usher.
The theatre is very intimate. Everyone has a great view of the stage (even short persons, such as myself). We were seated behind the front-row of what look like little exam desks - each with two red buttons just begging to be pushed - as it was marked as reserved. After a few minutes, however, the aforementioned gracious guide came over, removed the reserved signs, and told us we could sit up front!
After a chance check of the website on the iPhone, we were unpleasantly surprised that the lineup for the night had been changed. Instead of panicking or getting angry, we simply went to the box office to ask what we should/could do.
After verifying that things had changed, the understanding staff and management happily refunded our money. We shook hands and told them we'd see them the next night
We reserved tickets for the following evening's show from the iPhone. The mobile version of the page works like a charm, and we soon had our confirmation email.
Saturday night found us split-sided, gut-busted, and thoroughly entertained. Our smiles could have been wider, but only if our ears had somehow been moved further back. We had an extremely Yuk-y time (that's a good thing, people)!
Came with a date on Friday night.
First three comics were funny Simeon, Dylan sorry can't remember third comic but was really funny.
Headliner Jean from Scotland wasn't too entertaining. She worked hard though & seemed apologetic.
Drinks are reasonable. Bar staff very eager. Seemed desperate to get repeat business.
I always have fun here. I will def go back'
Haha. I keep going places with my mom that I WISH I was going to with a first date. Seriously! If someone took me to Yuk Yuk's on a first date (after an awesome meal), they'd AT LEAST get some gratitude sex.
It's a comedy club. I don't know if there's much more to say. They serve food and alcohol. The comedic value of the speakers was fairly good, ranging from flippin' gut-rippin to that's-not-really-that-funny... One guy had a vulgar type of humor which I wasn't so into. But then again, another guy stuck his hand into a girls nachos because she kept talking during his skit. So it goes either way depending on what you're into. You're guaranteed to at least laugh at SOMETHING. And if you're that hard to get going, than perhaps you should spend MORE time here. Maybe some of the joy will rub off on you.
Didn't give it five stars because the bathrooms are way too far away from the seats, and when you're in heels, you don't want to have to climb two floors after rubbing yourself up against everyone as you pass them by in the aisles....
Nice clean venue, great entertainment and fair prices. I was very impressed and will be back for another show for sure. The manager was very friendly and accommodating. My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time, and wished we could stay for the late show too.
Except for some attention deprived girl in the front row and her comments, I really enjoyed my night here. The host was really funny and sweet and the comics were entertaining.
My date got us a booth in back so we could munch on some food while we watched the show. You have to pay extra for booth seating, but as he said, "It was worth it." We ordered a burger and fries and the burger was fantastic. Our server was also funny. There were no female comics. Is that normal? Hire the server to do a show maybe?
the comedy performed here is better than other clubs in the city but not necessarily astounding. I attribute this to a weeding out process that doesn't happen at all clubs in the city. However, black guys talk about being black, women talk about their cycle, bald guys about being bald and so on. The shows are affordable and so are the drinks. The food too is affordable, but terrible so avoid it. All in all it is a can't miss sort of place.
$3 Amateur nights on Tuesdays - you get what you pay for
But if you stay past 10PM you get the good acts.
But by then you might have spent like $30 on beer to keep you entertained. Or you could just show up at 10PM
After years of not going to Yuk Yuk's, I finally went here again for a good friend's birthday and was reminded of how wonderfully funny and entertaining a night out at a comedy club can be!
First off, my friend got a great corporate rate for his group who went out for his birthday. Each ticket was only $5 so it was definitely very affordable as an entry price.
Secondly, the comedic line up was amazing! To start, Yuk Yuk's had a hilarious host to get the crowd warmed up at the beginning and in between each comedian.
Thirdly, they had a line up for 4 different comics with very diverse styles when it comes to joke delivery and subject matters they wish to poke at!
The comedy overall was SO FUNNY. I laughed so hard that my abdominal muscles were killing!!!
As well, my friend had a great time at his birthday with all of the great drinks that were not too expensive at all.
Trust me, if you want something different for a night out aside from a club or a bar, try out Yuk Yuk's! You will not be dissapointed! You will be amused!
i been to most comedy clubs across the city, yak yak's is up there w/the best of them. My only 2 little issues were, 1 they don't serve pitchers which kinda sucks if there is a big group. 2 since im not a down town guy finding the place is not as easy as it looks (at night) but over all i really enjoyed the show, i would go again
