I am a fairly new fro-yo lover, so I haven't been to other, similar cafe locations, but I will be going back to this one (and using my free loyalty card!).

+Immediately greeted by very friendly and helpful staff, who explained the way it works and let us try samples.
+ Lots of flavors along with the standard ones (I LOVED Tiramisu) and some non-dairy options
+Cool indoor seating and patio for warmer weather
+Lot of toppings to choose from, including vegan
+(Try the vegan chocolate chip cookie dough!)
+Not TOO bad in price.. a little expensive but not completely outrageous.
+The staff made me want to go back, because I was so impressed.
    +The yogurt is delicious!
+Nutritional facts clearly accessible and listed by each flavor.

The second time we went, my boyfriend commented that some of his toppings tasted a little old, as if they'd been sitting out for a while, but it didn't bother me. (I didn't get many toppings- my combination of tiramisu and chocolate kept me busy.)

I will be going here plenty this summer.

3.5 more precisely. Yogurth ice cream remain yoghurt... but this place is really OK and the large choice of topping (including the passion fruit and lychee bobbas - small juicy bubbles) can really turn your ice cream into a fabulous experience! and ice cream to be paid by the weight is really a cool idea for huge tummies like mine!

(and they have a loyalty card program!!!! yeahh!!)

Added later: much cleaner than Menchie's; staff much friendlier; ice cream much better and globally same toppings... so I made my choice!!

It's clean but that's all I'll say.  The first time I ever tried fro-yo was at this place and well let's just say I'd rather not.

I had to ask for a sample and it was pretty small.  The person working there really wasn't that helpful given that I told him I had never tried frozen yoghurt outside of what you get at the mall with the standard flavours.

Pretty pricey and I wouldn't be back.

I always come back to the classic tart flavour here. Not sure why but there's something about that pucker-up deliciousness that makes me come back. I live this place better than Menchies because there is more seating and it's got a nice patio and it's not too loud.

I really enjoy the quality of their product, the texture definitely beats out menchies and yogurty's.
They advocate that the quality bump is due to their use of liquid yogurt base rather than the powdered base that some other joints use. The toppings are comparable in quality to Menchies.

They have a set of 4 dispensers which serve 2 individual flavours with a fusion dispenser between the two.  3 of the dispensers are fixed flavours, but the fourth varies each week based on facebook input! This sets them apart from menchies which rotates flavours as well, but doesn't ask for customer input.

My only issue is that they don't carry a peanut butter flavour yet to match menchies. =( hopefully they start carrying it soon!

They have a loyalty card which I have yet to redeem.

If you've been to Menchies, Yo yo's is a lot similar. It is a self serve yogurt shop with only a few flavours to choose from. They do change up the flavours but only has 6 to choose from. you can test out the flavours before buying. The price varies depending on how much yogurt and extra stuff you put in the container because you pay by weight . the interior is small but nice. only a few seats but good place to just sit with a friend and chat away.

My favourite self-serve frozen yogurt place! I enjoy the actual taste of fro-yo and this place has it! There are many toppings to choose from as well and they have some amazing flavours - the original tart is so good! Plus, sometimes, they even have the green tea one!

The staffs are super friendly and love to start a conversation with you!

I have come back several of times now and will continue to do so!

So I tried out Yoyo's offering to see how it measures up to Toronto Froyo standards (which is not much, considering the sheer size and diversity).

The store is located in a cute remodeled home on Bloor and the interior is much better looking than competitors as they lack the overly bright fluorescent lighting. They also outdo Menchies. This is one place I'd stay in to have my froyo. Service is very friendly though the staff tends to hide in the back room, but pop out as soon as you approach the cash/topping area.

They've got a loyalty card which they jokingly said was for 'street cred only' but turns out to be worth something like a free cup when you hit $55 worth of froyo.

I really liked their froyo for itself, and the rotating flavours were fun to try out. The best flavours are their orginal tart and green tea. The chocolate flavour tastes no different than ice cream.

Decent array of toppings and Kudos for their offerings of Mochi, pineapple, mango, blackberries, and reese's peanut butter pieces.

Things to change: Sample cups are not on the table and you have to request them. This is probably for the abusers of the sampling privilege http://www.youtube.com... though a pain to the rest of us.
Also, I really feel there should be more fruit but demographics take precedence and the students nearby are probably more inclined to go for Cap'n Crunch and M&Ms for their munchies.

Its my first time having self serve frozen yogurt recently at any froyo joint. The service at YoYo's was pretty good. I was asked if it was my first time there, the girl showed me how their system worked and gave me some samples. The yogurt tasted good as well. BUT it was hella expensive. Its a new and interesting concept to me but the price was too damn high. I got a heavy cup of yogurt that costed me close to $8 - I was surprised, I shouldn't have taken so much I guess but still for $8 I expected a lot more. Half a cup is about $5 eh? and for a good size cup its close to $8, holy shit.

Yes I am a price conscious guy. I'd rather not spend my money on fro-yo at YoYo's and would grab some real food for $8+ somewhere else.

It's taken far too long for Toronto to catch on to the frozen yogourt craze, but the wait has paid off as the city has suddenly exploded with fro yo options. After having dipped my spoon into many a cup, I now feel that it's my foodie duty to spread the word that YoYo's is by far the best.

It could be that I'm just really tired of getting all of my senses assaulted by the competition's amusement centre like decor lead by a mascot that looks like turd on acid. However, it's probably more simple than that. I love YoYo's because their fruit flavours don't taste like Kool-Aid mix, their fresh fruit toppings are not unripe (I'm looking at you, green bananas!), the entire experience is more civilized - tastings don't require fighting your way through a hoard of sample slurping folks, and their product is over all just a lot tastier.

My current favourite combination is country vanilla with non-dairy mango, but have heard great things about the orange creamsicle. The tangy green tea is a little too tangy for my taste, but I know people who really like it like that. The presence of all of the non-fat signage makes me want to initiate a Seinfeld inspired lab test, but frankly, even proof of it being unhealthy couldn't stop me from eating frozen yogourt. The availability of non-dairy options makes it an inclusive experience for lactose intolerant and vegan friends.

Upon my first quick visit, I found the decor too simple, but now that I've spent more time on both the enclosed sidewalk patio and inside, I have to admit that the vibrantly raspberry and lime coloured walls, varied seating options (clear backless stools along counter tops and a very interesting wooden structure for four) show how much thought was put into designing the place.

The staff are also always really friendly and personable. In place of free stickers, there are free candies by the till. They don't yet have mochi as a topping, but I've been told that it will be coming very soon. Hang tight!

The staff is real friendly at Yoyo's Yogurt Cafe. Unlike their competitors down the street -- where you're pretty much on your own -- at Yoyo's you are greeted as you as soon as you walk in. On my first visit a kindly staffer walked me through the entire process. You grab a tub, and select from one of the many yogurty flavours available. These rotate frequently, and are voted upon by users visiting their website!

Grab a mini cup if you want to sample any of the flavours. There's strawberry, vanilla, peanut butter and chocolate(!), original tart, green tea, and they even some dairy-free options. There are two flavours in a machine, so you can swirl them together if you like, but I prefer my flavours unswirled because I'm flavor-racist.

I tried original tart and the peanut butter and chocolate. I liked the flavoured yogurt a lot, it had a real nice consistency and PB and chocolate combine well (obviously). As for the original tart, I've had better; it was a bit melty actually, but that could have been an anomaly. Topping-wise they have a wide array of options, and a few creative picks that you can't get down the street. Like why not douse your creation with a scoop of real cookie dough? Or some crushed up Skor?

They also serve coffee (including beans!) and have free WiFi. Could be an interesting spot to get some work done. At the risk of becoming morbidly obese that is.

Obligatory Title Pun: It has its UPS and DOWNS.

Menu Readability: Everything is very well-labelled and I like the signage on the machines.

Need to mention: They have a patio out front, which is heated in the autumn.

What this place teaches me about myself: I don't know how to yo-yo. How did I miss that part of my childhood?

YoYo's is tucked away in a slightly awkward spot at Spadina/Bloor, but worth dropping in for a treat. Scoot on inside and you'll find yourself in a colourful little froyo cafe with a little seating and some friendly staff.

They have quite a lot of flavours, more than a couple of the other froyo places in Toronto that i've dropped into. What I love is that there's generally a couple of dairy-free flavours on offer, and you can make sure of this by checking the ingredients lists they have posted on each dispensing machine! Awesome. Also, their toppings bar is really well labelled with what the vegan options are there, so you can go to town without having to wonder at all, or stick to boring fruit toppings. AWESOME.

The only downside is that, if you don't watch yourself, you'll end up with a weighty treat that costs more than you'd like. Dang! It's already on the pricey side like most froyo places.

3.5 stars, bumped up to the 4 for their vegan-friendliness!

For fear of having a heat stroke, my friend and I decided to stop walking along Bloor and sought refuge in YoYo's. We weren't particularly in a 'froyo craving' mood, but it was the first place we saw when we decided our health was important to us.

I've been to Menchies a few blocks away, closer to Bathurst, quite a few times. In all honesty, I had no idea of this place's existence. Looking at the review dates, it's not like this establishment 'just' opened. They don't have as many flavors as their competition (... I *think* anyway), but there were enough ... I think there were 8 flavors when I went on Wednesday. The tart flavor was pretty yummy and was refreshing after I had wandered in 40 degree weather.

You can have the froyo in two ways - either in a cup or a shake. I had eaten just before so I was stuffed and didn't try the latter, but I think it'll have to be my excuse to go back.

What I liked the most about this place was that right beside your froyo dispenser, you could see the calorie count on what you were going to consume. I'm on a Lifestyle Change Journey (hate the word 'diet') so it was really helpful for a  calorie counter like myself.

I love the Menchies look, but I'm thinking that YoYo's will have to my 'go to place' for froyo from now on.

    A solid 4 star ~

So many Fro Yo dessert places popping up all Toronto.. and Yo Yo's just another one of those. Good but not amazing!

Tasted a few of their offerings, non fat, non dairy, low fat or what not. I find the original is the best as I love the tartness in it. The other fruity taste was a little disappointing.

YoYo's does have a large selection of toppings, but I prefer my fro yo plain and simple so cannot really comment on that. But for sure don't go crazy on the toppings.. you be in shock when you cashing out! :)

Staffs are super friendly... and if you want to taste any of the flavours just ask!

The front patio is nicely set up.. would be relaxing and enjoyable to enjoy your frozen treats and watch all the action along Bloor Street.

    Good job Yoyo's!

You have reaffirmed my faith that froyo can be a nice light dessert after my terrible experience at Menchie's

Yoyo's can easily be missed. Their building is set back from the sidewalk and is squished between the Metro and a dentist's office. Watch for the banner that hangs out over the sidewalk to spot them.

They have 8 options here. Tonight when I visited they were serving a mixed berry, mango, red velvet, green tea, traditional, raspberry, chocolate, and one other which eludes me at the moment.

I tried the raspberry, green tea, and red velvet. The red velvet was good, not too sweet. Both the green tea and the raspberry were just tart enough to make your lips pucker slightly but not overly tart so that you make that weird face. I loved that they had so many fruit flavours of froyo.

The topping station was good and had some options you don't normally see at places like this, like fuzzy peaches. The only shady looking thing in the station were the bananas. They had clearly been sitting in there for a while.

My only complaints are that they charge $0.55 per ounce, but I guess their location dictates the price a little, and the consistency of the froyo. I don't know if it's the machines they use or the brand of yogurt, but it seems like there is lots of air mixed into the yogurt. This made it seem to melt faster than most places I've been to.

I really love that you can pay per weight. That is an awesome idea for people who have some self-control.

For those of us that do NOT, this place costs so much money!!
The yogurt itself is good-but don't mix all the flavours like I did because then they all taste the same. All the flavours are fat-free which is good for those of us pretending to be dieting.
But, the toppings weigh  A LOT.  It's so overwhelming because there are SO MANY so you put one piece of everything and it ends up costing you 10$ for yogurt!!! So, only go if you are able to control yourself and decide on ONE or two flavours and ONE or two toppings.
Otherwise you'll just spend your weekly savings on yogurt.

Before you even read this review let me just put it out there and say stop, get off your computer and go get some frozen yogurt from this place.  By the way in the words of hometown musician Drake, "you can thank me now."

Basically here's how it goes at YoYo's, you'll walk in and see some self serve frozen yogurt machines. Grab your cup/bowl and just go for it.

Each station of frozen yogurt has signs above them letting you know what the flavour is.  Cool thing is there are 3 dispensers to one machine so you can have either one or you can have a "twist" which is the blend of the two flavours.  I should mention using these machines are a little bit daunting if you haven't used one before but the staff there are friendly and will help you out if necessary.  Also, the signs that indicate the flavour also have the nutritional facts listed if you like to know that information before hand.

You can fill you cup/bowl as much or as little as you like which is one of the reasons why I really like this place. It's in your hands so you don't feel like it wasn't enough or there's too much.  You can also ask the staff to try a flavour if you're unsure about it too. Which is super helpful if it's your first time or you're reluctant on trying a flavour.

Once this step is complete you can head over to the topping bar to dress your yogurt. They have everything from candy to fruit and everything in between. You don't have to put a topping but it kinda makes you feel like a kid again so I like it.

Now you may be thinking "but hey Victoria how much does it cost?!" Well here's the beauty of it all, you pay by weight. Depending on how much yogurt you want and amount of topping you put on it will translate into the cost.

They have this Yoyo card too and for every dollar you spend you get a point. Once you've reached 55 points/spent $55 you'll save $5.50 on your next visit. I guess this works out really well if you got there often or if you treat your friends when you go but you really have nothing to lose if you do get the card.

If you want a personal suggestion I had the Fruit Punch and Pink Lemonade.  The Fruit Punch wasn't my favourite of the two but it was good. I loved the Pink Lemonade though and would defiantly have it again.  I sprinkled coconut shavings on it and the two were surprisingly great together!

I'll be heading back to Yoyo's in the future!

I love this place. Having been on a bit of a Menchie's binge (three times a week for ... too many weeks) we decided to try this place because we felt bad assuming nothing could ever match up to Menchies.

This is self-serve too, so it's the same kind of set-up as Menchies, but with two minor bad points. First of all, the sample cups are locked away in a cabinet, so you still have to ask staff can you try each of the flavours. This is something I hate doing, because it makes me feel like a bit of a freeloader. However, this is likely because the machines seem to suffer from some unexpected spooging when you pull down the handle (the second bad point!). A little friendly advice would be to pull down the handle and let the melted yogurt left in the nozzle drip into the drip-tray before sticking your cup under. You'll skip the melted, watery yogurt and avoid the little crazy cough-splutter that the machines make before the flow of yogurt starts.

Those two little nitpicks aside, this place has a much, much healthier vibe than Menchies. Far fewer flavours (six, I think), but they're creamy and smooth. There's also less sweets on the toppings bar, which is awesome because I am like a 6-year-old around candy -- doesn't matter how wrong it is, it always feels so right. The yogurt is smooth and creamy (real dairy!!) and super, super tasty.

Price-wise it's a few cents more expensive than Menchies per ounce. 55c vs 49c if I remember correctly. I think it's worth it, considering they also have an option to make a smoothie and they actually throw in the juice for free (they weigh your yogurt and toppings as normal and then throw in the liquid and blend it for you).

In a selfish way, I'm really glad so many people seem to love Menchies. It's always crammed but there's always seats at YoYo's and the staff are super cheerful and attentive. Soon people will discover YoYo's and walking in there will be like walking into a sardine can. I guess I should enjoy it's relative unknownness while I can!

    It exceeded my expectation.

The place is cozy enough to sit down as you enjoy yogurt. Not ice cream but yogurt. Which is apparently healthier than ice cream.

    You scoop and they weigh.

It is completely self serve which adds to the the thrill and minimizes long line ups. The neighboring Greg ice cream has sometimes a line up of up to twenty minutes.

Your dessert is your own creation - mix two or three flavors, add almonds, chocolate chips, mangoes or bananas. You can have as many yogurt combinations you can think of.

Stawberry non fat is my favorite and mango sorbet comes a close second. My niece loves the non fat chocolate yogurt. I go crazy with toppings because it certainly adds to the flavor.

It's a small place so there isn't any seating for a group of more than six. There are two long tables with six stools each. Two single sofas. And a zen-like booth that seats four people.

Price is competitive compared to other dessert place.

The bell rings whenever someone enters and leaves the premises. It can be annoying after sitting there for half an hour.

You come back home... still hearing the bells in your head. Ding dong.

They've added more toppings, like: mochi (sooo good!), strawberry bobba (kind of like the tapioca in bubble tea but more squishy), and vegan cookie dough.

They also have a loyalty card now. You gets points for every dollar you spend, and I think when you get 50 points, you get $5 off or something like that (not a huge discount, works out to 10% off essentially).

The fro-yo craze is in full swing in the Annex, with not one, but two new, self-serve, frozen yogurt joints recently opening up. I was super stoked when Menchie's opened up, and I thought I'd give YoYo's a chance to see how they compare. They also had a buy one, get one off promotion, so why not?

Unfortunately, YoYo's pales in comparison and is really lacking in many departments. For starters, we arrived around 7:30 PM and it was a dead zone! Not only that, but the cafe was somewhat dimly lit, and didn't really project that feeling of excitement whenever I go out for fro-yo.

We were greeted enthusiastically by the one employee who seemed to be working alone for her shift, and offered us a sample of any of their flavours. The downside to this was that the employee managed these samples herself, from a secret stash of samples cups, and there were hesitations to ask for another sample, as we didn't want to impose.

I sampled the green tea, but opted for their country vanilla and cappuccino, and was mildly disappointed. Even customers who came in afterwards made comments of disappointment as well, as they sampled the other flavours. It was also difficult to control the levers to portion out how much fro-yo I wanted. A simple pull quickly dispersed tons of fro-yo, more than I wanted. Also, there must have been some poor quality control on the temperature since the texture and consistency was runny, became even runnier as I made my way to the topping station, cash register, and finally to our seats.

Lastly, the toppings weren't that great. They had the standard selection of fruits, crushed chocolate bars, and other goodies. I added cookie dough (as always), caramel balls, and butterscotch chips. I cookie dough was more like cookie crumbs, and the caramel balls and butterscotch were rock-hard like jaw breakers.

Overall, I give them 2 stars out of 5, and probably won't come back. I'll stick with Menchie's as my go-to fro-yo joint or Greg's Ice Cream as a backup. To those interested in their pricing, their rate is $0.55 per oz, and it appears like they tend to have specials on a regular basis.

Went to YoYo's awhile back.  I wasn't blown away by the experience.  Self-serve yogurt is a tricky thing, because it's left to the customer to experiment flavour combinations on your own.  This is ok, if the toppings were fresh and if the yogurt was good.

Problem at YoYo's was that there were too many flavours and too many toppings.  The yogurt was kind of melty and not that tasty.  Then adding the toppings, in combination - no flavour stands out at all.

It's also more expensive then other self-serve yogurts that I've had.  Given how much a yogurt cup can cost,, I prefer going to a fro-yo place where sized and pulled for you, and the toppings are fresher.

I only tried the Pink Lemonade flavour with Reese PB chunks but it was so good it made me angry! Angry I didn't get more!

misleading January promotions (especially if you just walk pass by the shop)... I just felt like I got ripped off!!

anyways, the frozen yogurt is OK, I like menchie's better because I get to try some of the flavors before I buy...helping myself.... without asking the staff to give me samples...

Will I be going there again? - If I get crazy craving for frozen yogurt and dont feel like walking 3minutes more for menchie's.... yes, maybe.

YoYos first rolled into London, Ontario and it has been a big hit here ever since.  I tasted Menchies in Toronto, and I must say there is NO COMPARISON. Menchies Yogurt is powder based whereas YoYos is made from real yogurt and boy can you taste the difference. Far better quality and delicious all around. It will not be long until people's loyalties will switch. Quality always wins.

Yoyo's is definitely my favourite fro-yo place in the city - and I've tried a lot, including Menchie's! I'll compare the two since they seem to be serving a lot of the same market.

In a nutshell, here's why I love Yoyo's [so much more]:
    1. The yogurt is of great quality both in terms of health (hello, probiotic live and active cultures!) and taste. While Menchie's uses powder + water as their recipe, Yoyo's yogurt is made with real dairy and, save for the country vanilla flavour, no artificial stuff! The result? A consistent creamy yum that feels healthy and satisfying. (And, a note: I don't find the machines to run at a bad speed..)
2a. Flavours are good and strong, but not overwhelming.
2b. Flavours don't rotate nearly as much as Menchie's; therefore, if I like something, I'll come back and be almost-guaranteed they're still selling it.
    3. The toppings are great - there's definitely a wide selection available, and they're all, like the standard chocolate chips, of equal quality to those served at Menchie's, or, like the box of smooth, unique vegan cinnamon/chocolate cookie dough, much better than the crunchy balls of cookie dough found at the bustling shop down the street.
    4. While the atmosphere is more mellow, there are always people around. The vibe is calmer, the staff (in my experience) are friendlier, there's a heated patio "for those chilly nights," and you don't feel rushed or overcrowded.

Okay, that's much longer than I intended to be, so I apologize.
Yes, Yoyo's may be a few cents more costly per ounce, but I find it far more pleasant and know it's doing my body loads more good.

Overall, a very enjoyable experience time after time.
