Review from Adelina W.
Richmond, BC
The only place to get decent bubble tea in Victoria. A typical bubble tea starts at $4.50 + .50 cents for any added in the drink (ie. pearls, coconut jelly, pudding, etc). Food is usually hit and miss. Some of the items are fairly decent. The combos are really great value - for $10 you get miso soup, choice of teriyaki with rice, salad, fruit, and fish fries and prawns. It is a Taiwanese establishment, so you can't go wrong with anything fried. I love popcorn chicken which they have labelled as Deep Fried Chicken Breast, and I usually get it with rice and it comes with 2 small side dishes for $8. I've also had some dishes that are truly terrible - spicy beef flank with rice? Don't get it - its really gross!
They also have Shabu Shabu, but I've never tried it. It has its own separate section of the restaurant.
Service is definitely a problem here. They are so understaffed and the place gets pretty busy at night. There is usually one person making the bubble tea, and the other is responsible for serving the whole restaurant from taking orders, getting the bill, cleaning up tables and bringing out food. Definitely way too much work for one person and makes service really slow - not to mention forgetful! My last visit, took 3 tries for them to get my order right because they kept forgetting and one of my dining companions requested water over and over again resulting in the server bring just one tiny cup of water.
Despite that, I still keep going back. Its really only the decent place and they have such a monopoly in Victoria. A new place needs to open! Friendly competition wouldn't hurt.
