AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING! Everyone is the coolest and nicest and bestest. Salvador Darling was a neat intimate little venue with such a cool vibe! The sushi was yummy as was the M&M goodies! The bartender was hot! Good job Kat :)
If you're lucky enough to get invited definitely don't miss out on a Yelp Elite event. You'll regret it. -
Review from Hana B.
I loved the 1st yelp elite event! Got to meet so many fun and cool people i hadn't at events before. The food was great! Especially the white and brown icing brownies that were melt-in-your-mouth good. Yummm!
The postcard twin idea was brilliant! I got to talk to a lot of people through it, though alas! didn't find my soul-yelpbuddy :( Anyone here had a Hotdog with toothpaste picture?
I loved the venue, the ambiance was a perfect mix of eclectic and cool, tho sometimes the room got stuffy, the yelp hand-held fans were a life saver for many!
What a great, fun, memorable event! Hats off to you Kat! -
Review from Tammy Y.
Yeah yeah yeah.
The people were great, obviously.
The venue was juuuust right.
One of the few non-cheesy icebreaking games I've ever taken part in.
(I wanted to steal some people's postcards for my own personal use).
True, the food selection had some room for improvement, but who cares because...
can we say HELLOOOO MOJITOS?!
Well done Mr. Bartender-Who-Apparently-Bartends-Everywhere, PJ. That tub of drink was the perfect combination of punch in the gut and crispy-cool refreshing mint.
And aboveall, kudos to Kat. How'd you do it? Wait, I don't wanna know. Looking forward to seeing you Yelpy cats the next round. -

Nice vibe.
Terrific to put a face to the names.
Fun conversation.
Free food.
Free beer and drinks.
Excellent desserts.
What else can there be?
Keep yelping! -

Good times!! This was my first yelp event and I was happy to see that everyone was really friendly and supercool! I was nervous about attending an internet party but had a really good time. I eventually found my postcard match and now I feel complete inside.
Good job Kat! I will definately be attending some more events! -

Loved it!
I got a hoot out of matching people's first name and last initial to the real live Yelper. I also met new folks I didn't know were on Yelp. (Where are your reviews? How do I add you as friends?)
I even found my match for my creepy artcard: a plank-footed oriole with human arms by Dave Eggers. (Who knew he did art too? Heartbreaking Work of a Staggering Overachiever?)
Thanks Kat F. This was awesome. YOU are AWEsome!Listed in: Yelp Elite Events

Hey, this is a review right, why sugar coat things? Yeah, I'm gonna be "that guy" to rate this four stars -- though I had a good time meeting everyone and seeing familiar faces. Kat did a great job of course, so her job is safe (for now)...muhahahaha....
For all you Eliters, try making it out to some other events, they're pretty fun. We can even plan for some peanut free outings (inside joke).
-1 stars for:
1) My "Coke" was actually a PC Cola from a bottle. Not the real thing.
2) By the time I saw the food, sushi was gone. I wasn't hungry really, but had I have been, that would have been an issue. Desserts were nice.
3) Either the music was too loud or there were too many people screaming at each other. Either way, it was tough to carry a conversation without a megaphone. Luckily, I always carry mine with me.
Yeah, I'm kind of an ass....or maybe just heartbroken because I never found my postcard soul mate... -

I'll add another voice to the already unanimous chorus of appreciation for the great night coordinated by hostess extraordinaire Kat F.
Kat, you really are the most popular girl in school. Yelpically speaking.
Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is the music. Kat's meticulously prepared play list played perfectly and created the ideal ebb and flow for the evening.
My +1 had a great time and was unquestionably won over by Yelp, so big ups to everyone. -
Review from Sean B.
Apparently I timed my trip through Toronto well. Passing through while there was a Yelp Elite event going on, sweetness.
Props to:
1. Kat F coming up to me and saying, "You're from Virgina right?" Way to know your guest list!
2. The brownies. Wow.
3. The sashimi. When it comes to sashimi, I'm hardly hard core but my companion is rather picky about the stuff, and approved of the servings provided last night.
4. The bartender was very efficient and courteous. The other couple Yelp events I've been to, there was usually a long ass line to get drinks. This time? Could just walk on up and get your drink. Maybe this is merely a sign that American yelpers are alcoholics while their Canadian brethren aren't?
One minor complaint was the venue was crammed, and it was very hard to hear others talk. Oh well.. -

Here are 6 of the 11 things I love most in life:
1. Free drinks
2. Free brownies
3. Free sushi
4. Free(flowing) conversation
5. Free(flowing) good music
6. Free stickers
You may find this hard to believe, but the first Yelp Elite event HAD ALL OF THE ABOVE.
Don't you wish you were there?
But seriously, folks. Amazing turnout of fun people, fantastic twunes, a wee gem of a venue and enough snacks & dranks to fill your gullet. If this event was any indication, things are lookin' up for future Yelp adventures! -
Review from Daniel B.
An absolutely fantastic event.
When you think about it, It was really all about the people.
I've never met a more interesting group of people on a Tuesday evening. The rare few. The cultural Illuminati.
Of course, when you add a deliciously interesting venue, a super-fun postcard match icebreaker and a plethora of free Mojitos and sushi.... everything gets multiplied exponentially.
I think that the real thing that got me though, was the spectacularly handpicked music. Just a perfect ebb-and-flow of modern culture, one track at a time.
This could not possibly have been better. Those who were Elites, loved it. Those who were brought, wanted in and those who were unable to make it, were jealous.
Well done Kat. Thank you so much! -

Like the folks are saying, everything was great. Really liked the low-key postcard twinning icebreaker (I got TWO matches!) and the venue was a nice size for the group. Maybe you never forget your first elite event, but, apparently, I do forget the subject of my first review!
Well done Kat! -

I gotta say this was a pretty fun evening... good food... GREAT DESSERTS... fun peeps. The venue was amazing and totally kick ass. I deem this first every Toronto Elite event to be a big winner. I (like many others) did not manage to find my post card twin, but if you also had a toothpaste hotdog I salute you.
Can't wait for the next one... -

No one will be forgetting their first. The food was great, the drinks were great, and it was great to meet everyone. By the sounds of things everyone had a great time.
See you all at the next event and maybe see some of you Elite's at other non-elite events.
Thanks for organizing a superb evening Kat!Listed in: Since the beginning

The first Elite event was a great success. Then again, how can you go wrong with free drinks, free food and a gaggle of yelpers? (That was a rhetorical question.)
The ice breaking game was fun. I must state for the record (Kate) that I only received one card. Promise!
I'm looking forward to the next event. Keep yelping one and all.Listed in: Elite Events I have Reviewed

WOW Thanks Kat! I had a great time putting faces to all the online Yelper's I'd only "half" met. Unfortunately I didn't have time to stuff myself with the food as I was constantly in conversation but great open venue with great drinks (those Mojitos were addictive! Luckily Jay and I managed to grab the last ones being served!)
As with everyone else, I'm looking forward to meeting more Yelpers at the next event! -

I enjoyed myself immensely at Yelp Toronto's "You Never Forget Your First Elite Event". The food, the mojitos... all yummy. Plus I've always wanted to check out Salvador Darling so what a great venue to host such an event.
I didn't find my card-mate either: leave it up to them to decide to not show up that night. But meeting my fellow Yelpers made up for it.
Thanks to Kat F. for organizing this. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures, and to the next event.
Nice meeting all of you!Listed in: Showing off my badge

Kat, you make the world go round.
Great night, great drinks, great peeps.
But I didn't meet my card-mate! WHERE ARE YOU?! WHO ARE YOU?! WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME?!?!
And why did I not sit in that suspended chair?! WHY?!
[and the whining session ends now]
Thanks again, and fab meetin' y'all! -

Had a blast at Salvador Darling's last night! Way to go Kat! SD's was a perfect spot for the first official Yelp Elite event, just a hub of fun. :) Cool to meet up face to face with so many other yelpers.
Hey Jay....Texas rules! :) Hook 'em high honey.
Count me in for the next one.
p.s. txs to Salvador Darlings for opening up their place for our soiree, loved it. :) PJ the bar keep, you are 'da man. -

Even though my psyco george bush post card paired me up with the paparrazzi, i was surrounded by a bunch of the most hospitable critics in Toronto, First off i'd like to that Kat and the yelp crew for hosting such a great event, the cozy charm of salvador darling with the missing sign for the mens room made for some laughs.. the gourmet pairing of sushi, mojitos and brownies brought back memories of Japan mixed with taco bell and Dufflets pastry...
if i find out the significance of the red chair with the tall back i'll let you all know.. -

This was a great event! It was great seeing a lot of the familiar faces in the community and also meeting some new people.
Thanks to everyone, including Kat, for making this a success.

I woke up with a small hangover, Yelp stickers on my arm, and a beer Styrofoam cooler thingy in my pocket....What a fun night.
Cool venue, even cooler people, and cold drinks, that's all I need to get me in a good mood. -

Great event as always Kat!
Salvador Darling was a perfect spot for some Yelpers and drinks. This Elite even was totally a success. Great to meet you all and see you guys soon. Thanks Kate for the help sticking name tags on everyone, I would forget my own name if it wasn't for those. Props to Bijan for joining me in grabbing the last of those killer mojitos.
BTW Andre, I think Hana B was your toothpaste hotdog match. -

Free booze. I think that's all I have to say.
Found my postcard match/soul mate, asked him to marry me, he said yes, never heard from him again...
TOTALLY loving the fact that I am in the main event's picture and again loving the free booze.
Great night, met soo many people and most of them seemed very sober! Didn't get to talk to everyone but I did make an honest effort.
Food was a bit scarce and for some reason was under the one red "heat lamp" looking light. Candles smelled like crayons...reminded me of my childhood...
Got a chapstick, got a nail file, luckily as I broke a nail earlier in the day but forgot my brand new elite status tshirt on the way out!
Thanks Kat, see you at the next event! -

Free booze is a good way to get people out. Clearly. Salvador Darling was packed. It was a fun night out for sure. It's interesting to match real-live people to usernames. I also found my yelp postcard twin, so the event was extra successful. Salvador Darling is a nice bar. The furniture is killer.

This was tons of fun! Salvador Darling was the perfect little venue for such an event, funky, good location, great staff and of course the mojitos were delicious...mmm. As for the event the signage outside was clearly Yelp-y, the postcard mixer was a good idea to get people mixing and the food and drinks were great. Thanks Kat and Yelp for a great event!!
