Review from Emily H.
A cozy little TPL situated in the cute neighborhood of Yorkville, right between the firehall and a small park. What a story book street!
The selection of books is limited due to the size of the branch, but there are four main sections: Media, Adult fiction, Children's and LGBTQ. There are a few tables throughout the library but it is usually full of parents and older folks reading newspapers. There are a few computer stations as well - pretty sure you have to book them in advance because there never is an opening. There are some quiet study rooms in the back of the library as well... if you can manage to score an empty table (saw a few empty ones this weekend!), you could have quite a pleasant study party... Oh, student days!
And have you checked out the self check-out kiosks at TPL these days? Boy, have they upgraded since my childhood library days!
Need to mention: shorter hours on Friday and Saturday, closed on Sundays.Listed in: Food-Free February Challenge!

Markham, ON
Historical, Heritage and free Wifi just a few word to describe Yorkville Library.
Great pit shop to ome in to check emails, use your Yelp App or whatever.
Washroom is decently clean.
The only complaint I have is no comfy sofa seating! This place definitely feels like a library!Listed in: Libraries!!

Review from Vivek S.
Yorkville has a rich history of dudes tossing money around. In 1903, the Chief Librarian in Toronto wrote to Andrew Carnegie (yes, that one) about an endowment. Being the consummate philanthropist, Carnegie flipped a cool $350 grand northward and the Yorkville library was born.
This library was designed by city architect Robert McCallum, who was known for this scepticism of "modern" construction technology like concrete. One step inside, and you might become nostalgic for his quaint sense of conservatism. It's quite beautiful, airy, and bright in the Yorkville library and it doesn't have the Municipal Stink I usually associate with city-owned buildings.
There aren't that many books in here and only a few communal tables for working. Typical patrons range from ages 2 to 92 with little in between. A gorgeous space but considering that you can see Toronto's largest library (Toronto Reference Library) from their front steps, one would come here to take part in their programming or to bask in the architectural ludditism of Robert McCallum, if just for a moment.
Obligatory Title Pun: This ain't not the Rosedale Library.
Menu Readability: If there were a thing called 'applicable' this is not it.
Need to mention: Pretty busy in the middle of the day, actually.
What this place teaches me about myself: I should write more letters to billionaires.Listed in: Yorkville and You, Take a look, it's in a book
