Review from Geoff B.
I originally went to York Pizza on a lazy Sunday afternoon and ordered a slice of the cheese. A quick note on this before we continue; cheese pizza is how I rate a pizza place initially. Since every place serves cheese it makes a good baseline for comparison among different pizzerias and it allows me to assess the most basic ingredients (sauce, cheese, crust) to decide if exploring their fancier options is actually worth it. Anyways, to my dismay, they had no slices of cheese pizza laying about. So I ordered whatever looked good. I don't really remember what it was, but it wasn't very impressive. It was obviously not fresh, despite the name of the joint.
Which brings us to tonight at 9pm when I decided that I was going to pass out unless I got some food in me. So I figured I would give York a shot on a pizza that really is fresh. I called them up and ordered a small cheese then proceed to hike up to Dunbar and 16th. Upon arriving I discovered that they were actually closed when I originally called them. I walked in apologizing profusely to the small bespectacled man behind the counter, but he didn't seem fazed in the least. I took my pizza and ran, basically.
But what about the pizza? It was pretty good. Much better than my initial survey. Like all the other places near Dunbar (so far) they went a little lighter on the sauce than I like, but what I tasted was good stuff. Not too sweet but very herby. Any failings due to the quantity of sauce was mitigated by the quantity of cheese. They couldn't have fit more melted mozzarella on without putting it under the sauce (which is great, by the way). The crust was fairly thin (but not thin crust style) and cooked to a golden brown. Delicious!
This is also the only place I've encountered Jones Soda for sale in Vancouver. Overall, order yourself a whole pie or go in when they're busy so you don't get a stale slice. Top marks for customer service.Listed in: Vancouver Pizza

Review from Edward L.
Tiny holes in the wall like York are sprinkled all over the city. The trick to finding them is to keep your eyes peeled as you are zipping around the city, and make mental notes. Or notes in a pad.
Parking is available on the street here. As it is in a quiet neighbourhood, you won't have problems here.
The place is run by an Asian woman, so this place isn't the most authentic. But it is decent in terms of the "filling you up" and "quantity of toppings" factors.
The inside looks seriously ghetto, with peeling paint and lime-green interior. The building is old and it shows. There's a display with reheated warm (read: not hot) pizzas. I do have a soft spot for these for some reason.
The deluxe pizza I had was quite tasty. They didn't skimp on the cheese, and the toppings were good. Nom nom nom.
