I recommend this place for lunch for simple Japanese cuisine as everything is well priced and tastes fine. Everything in their dinner menu is over priced period (~50% mark up from lunch for the same thing). I've only seen this place 1/2 full and I've been here dozens of times when i was in my teens. The decor is great and the service is awesome for me - the main hostess always remembers me.

Lunch = give it a try, Dinner = resist. That's it.

If you've never had Tempanyaki, it's delicious and extremely filling, so good for the big-eaters in your life. Good options and they'll customize it some to your tastes (he added extra garlic for my family. We've stinky people, I guess). He made my steak perfectly (medium-rare) and as far as I know, all the lobster and whatnot for the rest of the table was delicious.

My only issue with the restaurant is how horrible the service is. It was Boxing Day and they only had one waitress on hand. This poor girl was run off her feet with a packed restaurant. I guess they didn't expect to have so many people there. It was hard to relax when every request I wanted to make seemed to be an extra burden on her shoulders.

The fireball the chef made almost made up for it. Or was it the pyro face my niece made when she saw it? If you can, ask for a bigger fireball. More fire is always preferable.

i have to do this. i have to warn every one of you on here NOT to come here.

This dinner was so memorable, it still resonates even a year to this date.  How do I remember it so clearly? It was my birthday.

I went to this restaurant with my family to try out their "specials" on their """"kobe"""" beef teppanyaki.  FAIL. FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL!!!!!

THEY SERVE YOU A PIECE OF "KOBE" BEEF THAT'S THE SIZE OF HALF A PLAYING CARD, AND THEY CUT IT INTO PIECES SMALLER THAN A DIE!

Absolutely ridiculous, absolutely OVERPRICED. what a RIP OFF.  They stuffed us up on BEANSPROUTS and FRIED RICE.  you heard that right.  Think twice, even thrice before even spending a dime in this dime of a piece.  It's definitely here to trick the tourists who think this is the legit kind of teppanyaki! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!

Ps: now that i rethink about it, I vaguely remember the chef who cooked our meals consistently telling us how horrible his job is and it's his only means of survival. I felt so bad for him the entire meal!!!!

My best friend and I got into Richmond late at night looking for a bite. Everything else along the wharf was closed, but when we walked by Yokohama they were still packed.

After 8 hours on the road we just wanted something cheap and filling. We went for the Maki Combo. 20 pieces of sushi and miso soup for $7!

Growing up in New York City and living in San Francisco for 3 years--you come across some pretty decent sushi. We didn't have big expectations for this place, but Yokohama certainly went above and beyond. The Maki combo came with 8 California rolls (the crab meat was way better than what most places traditionally use), 6 cucumber rolls (simple and refreshing), and 6 of my new favorite--tempura batter rolls (which I've never even heard of before!) they had a nice texture and went well with the other flavors.

It seemed like everyone working there was family, the wait-staff was super friendly and accomodating--we stayed for almost an hour after they officially closed, chatting with the staff and sipping on complementary green tea. And when we received our check, the manager gave us a discount card, good for a buy-one-get-one-free $20 dinner!!

Needless to say-- we'll be coming here again to take advantage of the offer and the tasty food.

Okay for my first review I'm gonna go out on a limb here. Don't do it, don't let your friends your parents your parents friends even your enemies near this place. Well maybe your enemies. Took me a long time to get over the last visit we ever made there. McDonalds could make better sushi.
